Anyone notice the connections between this episode and the movie Escape from New York? Surely anyone who has seen that or even Escape from LA would know what I'm talking about. I wonder if the writers are fans of that movie, because I doubt that it was a coincidence.

There is a chance there is some connection there. The preview for the next epy had an older guy in a hatch or room with a patch on his eye. Two Islands now? I wonder.... I think this is just a big ole mind mess.

Didn't they make a video game out of Escape from New York? I seem to remember something like that. This episode actually reminded me more of that game than the movie. :undecide:

Uh oh, I hope that wasn't Snake Plisskin in the eyepatch!!

Some of you guys are thinking of the metal gear solid games, which have a main character that is inspired by Snake Plisken, the "hero" of Escape from New York. As far as I know there's no game directly based off it.... yet.

For those who don't know what Escape from New York was about I'll spoil it for you. In the future, New York is a giant maximum security prison. The president's plane crashes there and he is captured by the prisoners. Snake Plisken is this bad *** who hates the government, and they injected him with a virus that will kill him in a certain amount of time if he doesn't do what they want. They send him on a suicide mission into New York to rescue the president. He does so, and then it turns out the virus wasn't even real, they conned him. Seriously if you haven't seen this movie, go and rent it. I would stay away from Escape from LA though.
