Im mean, he should carry a first aid kit or something

LOL!! I totally agree! I'm getting tired of all the Sawyer beatings. Maybe we should start a Sawyer anti-abuse organization. Stop punching Sawyer all the time!!

Seriously though, it's getting old. I want it to stop... and I'm not even a big Sawyer fan.

You know, it's interesting how much he has been kicked around and beaten... Makes me wonder again about his childhood. I think he was probably physicially abused in his tour of Foster Homes. I keep thinking, "it's like he's used to being kicked around". Almost like he expects it.

One would think with all that punching, his face would swell up a bit.

They tried to make his eye look a bit swollen when Ben came to get him for their walk, but it didn't look nearly as if he'd been beat the way he had been. Not too realistic, but at least he still looked good!

I just think it's hysterical that he's supposed to be this tough guy and EVERYONE is beating the crap out of him. I was giggling insanely when Ben was thrashing him inside the cage.

I'm tired of seeing Sawyer getting beating for things that he didnt even do. In one episide, Sawyers shocked because of something that Kate said. In this episode, Sawyer gets beaten because Sun shot and killed Colleen. Seriously, what the heck?? It is okay to beat the crap out of a man because of something that women are doing?

He DOES get beat up a lot. But I think it actually makes sense in a wierd way.

Sawyer is the kind of guy that people take their aggression out on. Because he's a jerk. Or so he appears. He's the kind of guy who'll get in your face and make all the sarcastic comments. So when people are looking for the first person to kick because they just have to kick someone...he's always the first person they think of.

In Confidence Man...he was stubbon and obstintate with Jack (even though he never had the medication). Jack was frustrated because he couldn't help Shannon. Sayid was frustrated because his equipment and possible chance of getting off the island was destroyed. And Sawyer was being belligerent...so he was a likely target for all that frustration.

With Ana-Lucia...she was nervous because of the newcomers, but still trying to assert her authority. To make sure they knew who was boss. And Sawyer was the one asking questions and being a little snarky. So she just let loose on him.

And with 'the others'...he was the one who was trying to shake things up...actively trying to escape...refusing to sit down and shut up. So he took a few punches for that. And when Colleen died...Pickett needed someone to hurt. And Sawyer was the one who was the biggest smart-*expletive* to him. So he just beat him to release his pain.

Even with Hurley last year...When Hurley was going a little nuts...Sawyer was the one mocking him.

Sawyer makes a good punching bag for several reasons. He presents himself as one almost because he's so snarky, and so sarcastic and he has a real problem with authority. Therefore anyone in authority feels like they need to beat him down to keep order. Also he comes across as such a jerk that when people are feeling frustrated in this stressful situation and they just need to hurt someone, they take it out on him. They can almost tell themselves that they're not hitting him because their wife died, or they can't fix everything, or they're just angry at the world. They tell themselves it's because he's a bad guy and he deserves it. And it's much more believable to them than if he were a nice, calm, respectful person.

Now that by no means makes it right. Just because he has attitude doesn't mean he deserves to be attacked. But I do understand why he's a target for people.
