View Full Version : Existence of submarine confirmation in tonight's ep?

Didn't Ben, when entering the room with Jack and Juliet in a panic, say "they are back with the sub - there is a problem?" I will post the audio once I get the episode off my DVR, but I swear the sub has been confirmed.

Did anyone else hear this or am I hearing the wrong word or what?

ETA: I have converted the episode on my DVR to AVI, then ripped the audio with BSweet and converted that to an mp3 file in Soundforge:

http://media.putfile.com/Lost---Sub

He does say "sub".

Here is a direct link (http://uploadfile.putfile.com/getfile/11618slash32d7261dhc-0-973990video83-h4sslash29810383044.mp3) to the mp3 on that page. If that doesn't work, click the link above. Sometimes they block direct linking.

I heard the same thing. Would make sense considering the separate island reveal.

Yes, I heard it, too. I thought maybe I had heard incorrectly, and they had meant "sailboat", but then again, how did the "Others" get to the sailboat undetected by Sayid and Jin in the first place?

I agree. "Juliette, I need you ... the sub is back, we have a situation"

Is this how Hurley got back to the other island? When last season ended it seemed that Hurley was sent off on his own, but that couldn't have happened.

Would this also be why the Pala Ferry is so long?

"Juliette, I need you ... the sub is back, we have a situation" Exactly.:)

No, Hurley came back from the Pala dock, which is on Lostie island. And yeah, a sub would need deeper water, so it would need a long dock.

This would also imply that the island that Jack, Kate and Sawyer are on is Pala.

This is confusing. Is the Pala Ferry on the big island or the one that's 2 times the size of Alcatraz?

After this eppy I thought it was on the little island, but now that I think about it, when Sayid found it he didn't mention they were on one of the outer islands.

I took it as sub meaning a code word for Desmond's boat. Course, I'm still not convinced there really are two islands because as much as the Losties and Tailies have covered the main island, you would have thought they could see the other island...unless there is a shield keeping it from view and the hatch implosion changed things?

I think it just means that they had gotten back from a trip to Subway and were bringing everyone their lunch.

An anagram for Jared is DARE J (ack)

It all makes sense now...

No seriously, a sub (I'm sure it's a mini-sub) explains a lot about how they are able to get everywhere so secretly and quietly.

I have been thinking that they have a sub as well, but I seriously could not make out what he said during the episode. I'll have to watch it again. I thought I heard him say "Juliette, I need you... Jason is back, we have a situation". I am probably totally wrong though!

I heard sub too. That would definitely make sense.

The dock is connected to the original island. I'm assuming that the pala ferry takes you to the other island. That is when they still had the pala ferry.

The losties may not have seen the other island because they haven't been to the part of the island where you can see it yet. Or maybe it's quite a bit smaller so it's harder to see than the main island.

I have stated last May that there was possibly a submarine on or around the Island. I saw a periscope in the Dharma Psychology video stills. People laughed at me back then...Here's the pic...It's number 15....

Next that was laughed at was my Alien theory...Think the man we saw in next week's preview is human??? Here's the guy up close.

I want to go on record as being the first person to predict that Sawyer is going to call someone "Captain Nemo" once action moves to the sub.

Yeah, a submarine makes a lot of sense, but I didn't register it when I first heard it. I thought it was just military slang for the team. subcommand or something? But it would explain how they got to the sailboat undetected.

The sub ties in with season one when the girl drowned, people speculated that there was something in the water and there was the diary on ABC that hinted at this.

Good catch, and I completely agree on the sub. I've thought you along time that they had to have one.

I thought the exact same thing...., I would say it has to be a smaller explorer type sub. Nothing to fance, but able to get around the islands fast. I'm sure she was a easy catch in the water too. Hoever I'm not sure if they went to actually capture one of the Losties, or if they saw her in trouble and rescued her. After the rescue, they couldn't just let her go.

good point, also in season one when Sceve was killed they stated they came from the water, although Im not sure the others are all about breaking every bone in someones body.

That is one hell of a find on the periscope. And for all the naysayers to what this man had to say, who is laughing now? The alien thing though, we'll just have to see. I guess aliens can have eyepatches...

Just wanted to remind everyone that previews are considered spoilers. Please remember to spoiler font any discussion that pertains to previews for next week's eppy. Thanks

It is probably the Galaga, Colleen mentioned in "lass Ballerina".

I think you guys are reading to much into the sub remark. Maybe Benry was hungry and asked Zeke to stop by at Subway on his way back to pick up a nice, juicy sub for him.

It makes perfect sense, since I doubt they have a McDonald's on the Island.

But seriously, kudos Eric Gunn.

After reading this thread and considering what happened to Colleen, I may have to re-think Ben's intention of his "sub statement, but I will say that when I first heard him make the comment, my immediate thought was:
"Sub?! Is this about the two Portugese guys we saw in Antarctica?!" I thought maybe the guys , once they had discovered their Electromagnetic anomoly thing, they had taken off in search of it! And since Ben said the sub is back, that implied that the sub had been there before--maybe back when Desmond didn't throw the switch 71 days ago maybe?!?! Dunno, just throwing it out there as an alternate theory....

I'll recognize that I am not the first to voice the theory of a sub, but, without knowing the theory was out there, I posted this in the Glass Ballerina discussion (scroll to the bottom of the page): http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=60684

So I feel entitled to a litte "I told you so" dance... Whoooohoooooo! :happy_bounce:

Maybe it's just me but considering it was snowing where the Portuguese researchers were located I'm guessing it would take more than a day for them to get to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But I like where your head's at, we've gotta be willing to think crazy things in order to comprehend this show.

I thought the Others having a submarine transport was the only logical way for them to sneak aboard Desmond's sail boat during Glass Ballerina. I'm actually kind of relieved because now that the "sub" has been confirmed it makes Sayid and Jin looks "less dumb" for not seeing them board the sailboat.;)

The girl in the diary, Janelle, mentioned a sub, and it does tie back to that girl caught in the rip tide and to Steve's death. Though, it's interesting that they killed Steve to get Claire back and Benry insists they aren't killers. Ethan killed Steve, the guy with the Tailies killed that guy in the pit. They aren't above beating the crap out of their captives, separating children forcibly from their parents (walt & michael), shooting a person and leaving them to die in the ocean (sawyer), or straight up kidnapping (cindy amoung others). I don't see how they can think that their actions would be percieved as anything other than hostile and killer.
