Ok, Jack seems to have turned the tables, putting Ben on the line to save Kate and Sawyer, but it leaves a couple of questions....

Why did Juliet seem so surprised? She "suggested" Jack screw up the surgery. Was she just acting surprised, or did she genuinely believe Jack would do the surgery?

Where can they run? Even if they do, Kate and Sawyer now know that there's nowhere to go.

Also, what was with Eko's 'Jesus Stick'? The inscription about looking north.. was that in reference to the other's island being north of the main island, or something else? (And how would Eko know about it?)

I think Jack caught Juliet off guard because yes, she wanted him to mess the surgery up...but she didn't realize that the whole group of others could be taken hostage in that way. She wasnted Jack to think only for himself and not about Sawyer or Kate. But he thought of them anyways.
