I'm thinking that Ben may not be the leader, maybe it's this guy Jacob?

I don't know but Tom seemed real scared about letting Ben die. And who is Jacob?

I think Jacob may be Jacob Goodwin like they call Pickett both Danny and Pickett

But Goodwin had nothing to do with them. He was with the tailies the whole time.

But during Maternity Leave even Ben talked about "him" being mad. I still don't think Ben is the leader.

But I will give you the fact that Tom (or Pickett-I'm so bad with all the new names) was stopped dead in his tracks by the walkie talkie when he was told Jack would let Ben die.

IMO, Ben's got some sort of dead man's switch on the rest of them. If he dies...or doesn't die a certain way (ie Juliet's video)...then they all suffer somehow.

Jacob could be the link off the island...ben is still leader on it,..

Ben is the leader. Juliet is starting a rebellion. Whoever Jacob is, he's not on scene with means at least Ben is the one in charge of the site.

Jacob made a list. That's all we know. We know that Goodwin and Ethan made lists and they TOOK orders from Ben. So Ben must ORDER the lists to be made, so Ben is Jacob's boss too.

that being said herk...i also think jacob is NOT non the island with them. I think that he is their off island contact...imho not having read others opinions yet to reformulate my ideas...lol...I still think the group of others that we see are very much afraid of ben and the reason for that is because he is their leader...

Agreed. In the Ben thread, there's discussion about his name and one of the meanings of Benjamin is "Son of my right hand", i.e. a second in command. We know the writers use names very carefully, so that makes sense.

There's a Jacob that was mentioned in the Lost Experience, he's a big shot at the Hanso Foundation so MVM's speculation that "I think that he is their off island contact" makes sense.

The leader is referred to as "Him". I think there is a lot of power and fear associated with the image and it doesn't quite jive with what I've seen with Benry. Ben has some problems keeping the authority.

In the last few minutes...I have since been convinvced that Jacob is ben's father that is off the island...
Jacob is HIM off the island.....someone who ben is afraid of (enough to call him HIM) and Ben is the leader on the island....who is responsible to tell HIM (Jacob) what is going on

Well, if Ben is actually the leader, then it was enthralling to see him so utterly helpless when Jack says he wont operate on him... "Maybe this is the proverbial nail in the coffin"... I guess only Jack could make a leader look so hapless.

I listened to an interview a couple days ago with Michael Emerson and he said that he thinks that Ben is the leader, at least on the ground.
