View Full Version : Tampa Connection?
mooze 11-08-2006, 11:11 PM So Kate's husband (Kevin) is working on a case that has to do with Tampa. Could this possibly be related to Sawyer's "Tampa job"?
Kevin is also wearing a Miami Heat t-shirt. The Miami Heat are a basketball team in Miami, FL.
Edit: Apparently Kevin is a Miami-Dade county cop, too.
alkatraz 11-08-2006, 11:18 PM Also I noticed in the shot that Kevin is getting into the police car, I think it said Miami-Dade Police, But without a screen cap I can't be sure.
cuek21 11-08-2006, 11:21 PM It was a miami-dade cop car, I see them everyday :)
KyleSBeaver 11-08-2006, 11:46 PM Kevin was going through files on some incident in Tampa. Could this be the same "Tampa Job" that Sawyer will never forgive Hibbs for?
Ladybug_ocean 11-08-2006, 11:54 PM I totally didn't catch that! I would say that's a safe bet. Great catch!
GettinLost 11-08-2006, 11:59 PM Caught that!! Could very well be the Tampa Job that Sawyer was involved with!! Wonder if we are ever going to know what it was all about or will they just "talk around" it till the show ends!!!
"There they will be - all the Losties on a boat sailing away to home, looking back at the Island blow up into a cloud of vapor, ash and lava and sink into the ocean." And here we will be at the Fuse going -
'What the He _ _ was the Tampa Job!?!?"
KyleSBeaver 11-09-2006, 12:03 AM Oh, I'm sure that the Tampa job will be Sawyer's next flashback. And I can't wait to see Robert Patrick again!
I caught that too, because, since I live in Tampa, I usually hear it when that name is mentioned. I couldn't help but think that it was possibly yet another way that the characters are "connected"--even if Kate didn't actually see Sawyer at the time.
I'm really curious as to what the Tampa job was, since I've lived here for several years!
100%

LOL...I sure hope you're wrong, GettinLost! :)
There is another Florida connection:
Juliet's flashback is going to be in Florida
Also, there's that whole thing with the oranges - like the one locke had in his mouth when he smiled at kate in season 1.
I'm here in Tampa too...and couldn't believe another Tampa reference surfaced!!
Did Kevin say: "Just finishing up some IR's on that fugitive recovery in Tampa. Bein' a cop is just endless paper work".
or...
"Just finishing up some IR's on that fugitive recovery at Tampa. Bein' a cop is just endless paper work".?
He kinda slurred thru that part.
Kevin was wearing a Miami Heat T-Shirt...anybody get a look at his cop uniform? Also, Kate was in a Palmetto phone booth.
GettinLost 11-09-2006, 01:46 AM COOL!!! Missed The Heat t-shirt - I was too busy looking at Nathan... *AHHH*
Jefferton 11-09-2006, 02:27 AM I have a strong feeling Sawyer and Kevin have a cross to be revealed later this season.
Pete Best 11-09-2006, 02:37 AM First, the Heat are not just some NBA team. They are the reigning World Champions baby. Further proof that Shaq is Him.
On a lighter note, miami, the glades, tampa kate saywer, something....
baylady 11-09-2006, 02:49 AM Also I noticed in the shot that Kevin is getting into the police car, I think it said Miami-Dade Police, But without a screen cap I can't be sure.
I was trying to read it too, but my stupid cat jumped up in front of the screen. I thought I saw Mills something but Miami would do it for me.

The wonders of Hi def. Totall a miami/dade cruiser. Go Heat. So, no one thinks Shaq daddy is him. How bout D wade. As a guy who was born in boston but raised in so fla, i've gotta say, this was the best season. Shout out to the Heat and Red Sox. Ha.
Looking for work.
Pete Best.
Lockefan 11-09-2006, 09:23 AM Well, the search function has been temporarily disabled, so I apologize in advance if anyone else has already posted on this topic, but Kate's husband mentioned tracking a fugitive in Tampa. Remember when Sawyer talked about "the Tampa job" in one of his flashbacks, as in: "What could possibly make up for the Tampa job?". Well, maybe he was the fugitive that Kate's hub was tracking. The LOST team just loves the whole six-degrees-of-separation thing.

P.S. Mods: I see now that there is indeedy-do another thread on this topic, called "Tampa Connection". Fine by me if you wish to merge the two.
Lockefan 11-09-2006, 09:29 AM Caught that, too, and just posted on it! I tried to search to see if there were previous threads on it, but the search function is temporarily disabled. So then I went through manually and sure enough, I'm not the only one who caught that reference (I'm here in the Tampa Bay area, too *lol*...we have our ears pricked for hometown references, huh?).
Yeah, just what was "the Tampa job", anyway? Curiouser and curiouser.

Good catch.....I must have been in the ozone layer because the connection did not register.

I might have missed it myself if not for the fact that I live in the Tampa Bay area and I naturally catch references to it. I remember distinctly when Sawyer said "What could possibly make up for the Tampa job?". And it would make sense that he could be the fugitive to whom Kate's hub referred.
Whew--taco night sounds a lot better to me than the way Katie and Sawyer had to live while on the run. Too much cortisol, too little shredded cheese *lol*. Seriously, though, when you think about it, Kate and Sawyer do have a LOT in common. They have both had to be in pure survival mode for much of their lives.
asim1701 11-09-2006, 10:01 AM oh yeahhhhhh, n then we know he gets caught also, thats y he was so angry at hibbs
danmo 11-09-2006, 12:11 PM could kevin be the one who catches sawyer and has him put in jail?
Well...if it was a "fugitive recovery"...I think we can safely assume whatever Hibbs did to Sawyer landed him in police custody.
If you remember correctly...Hibbs kinda said..."Does this make us even?" (paraphrasing)...and Sawyer responded, rather perturbed..."what makes you think this could possibly make up for the Tampa job?"...
Me thinks he and Hibbs were conducting a con in Tampa...and Hibbs ended up with all the cash...and Sawyer ended up with a bunch of cops knockin down his door.
There's like 10 "Florida reference" threads brewing...I wish mods would merge them into one.
So, Lockefan and Lija...what part of Tampa are you in? I'm about 2 miles north of Ray Jay.
spookyb18 11-10-2006, 04:38 AM So, here's what's funny to me- kevin was wearing a City of Miami police uniform (you can clearly see the patch when he talking to Kate about taco night) but when he leaves the house he gets into a Miami-Dade County police car. Those are two competely separate police forces. I know its an innocent goof up, but since I live in the area I noticed it right away. :)
