I wonder just what it is they're working on. Hm. That four-toed statue is big. Perhaps they're busting up rock for that fifth toe.

Yes, I like that one. A giant sarcophagus for his enormous ego. And tumor.

Yep.. they're makin something. I like the pyramid idea

But at least this confirms that they were actually making something instead of just working for no reason. At least that's what Kate seems to think.

Nice idea...but Starbucks aren't that big. My guess would be a Wal Mart.

This thread gets my vote for being the funniest yet. One answer is better than the next. I couldn't possibly pick a favorite. :rotflmao2:

A runway?

That is what my money is on. Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking on those lines.

At first I thought the construction project was just a ruse. A simple way to break Kate and Sawyer down physical while they also worked on them mentally. But after Kate's exclamation that the project is "big", I had to wonder if maybe it is actually for real and the "others" are getting some free labor out of Kate and Sawyer.

But then that leads to the question, what is it? It can't be a building. The other's are using manual labor to construct it. That means they probably don't have the materials or equipment to build something permenant. And besides there seems to be no shortage of bunkers on the two islands and if they needed a building they could simply use one of them.

Also the reference "two weeks" keeps popping up. Ben had about two weeks until his tumor would become inoperable. Ben tells Kate that the next two weeks will be "difficult". And I vaguely recall a conversation between Juliette and somebody else that went along the lines that they had two weeks to go but the time line has been changed.

So whatever this construction project is, it is something they can build with the resources available in this "two week" window. And although a runway would not be perfect, in two weeks I think they could get it done enough to the point where a plane could land and take off again.

Ben has promised Jack that he will get him off the island and send him home. He just didn't tell him how he would do it. And also we have had no evidence that "old smokey's" presence extends to the second island which our three Losties currently reside. Put these things together and I think a plane is coming to pick up Ben in two weeks to take him for his operation. Only with Jack on the island, Ben has decided to try the surgery there first.

The problem is (1) the "others" have already mentioned that they have lost communictions since the "sky turned purple". (When the Swan bunker blew up). So that means they can't tell whoever is on the other end that they are doing the surgery on island so not to come. And (2) the plane was coming in two weeks. Which from what we learned from Jack is a week to long to have any success with removing the tumor.

Well, somebody had to build that decoy camp, perhaps they are doing something like that for a future con or decoy.

I don't think what they are building is doing there is going to prove to be all that important, I think it will end up being a very small part of a bigger project that will be revealed much later.

I was fairly certain they were working on nothing. Just grueling busy-work to break their spirits. This is what the Nazis made people do in concentration camps.
