Rain is what happens in Hawaii, usually in the afternoon. I think sometimes the cameras just keep rolling while it rains, or that take is the one they use (out of several). I also think sometimes the crew has to create artificial rain, to keep continuity with other scenes. Did you notice that the sun was shining during the rain outburst?

rain was definitely not unintentional, it added drama to the scene, as it always does.

to me it is like the rain on the island is a character itself.

It was also raining when her husband was sitting in his squad car & talking to her on the phone. Not that it means anything but just another rain scene.

Hey does anyone remember Season 1 and Locke's - "It's going to start raining in 60 seconds"? (to Boone? Charlie? Can't remember...). Did something bad happen after that? Because if so, then it's another sign of Locke's connection to the Island and maybe some Desmond-like prophecy skills.... Who knows....

In the same vein, does anyone know if all the rain occurences are collected somewhere?

It was to Boone, during the trek for Charlie and Claire. I think that Ethan came and beat up Jack during that rainstorm.
