When Danny walked away from the surgery, Tom didn't look up, ask a question, didn't even acknowledge them. Kinda like he knew they were leaving. Then when he radios him, he specifically asks him, "Are you near the cages?" How would he know that?

Not sure how it ties into everything else but that jumped out at me while I was watching...

I think Pickett was waiting until Ben was out until he went to kill Sawyer. In my theory, Ben and Alex (and possibly some other people we don't know of, Mrs. Klugh perhaps) are on one side and Juliette and Pickett etc. are on the other.

Juliette obviously knows that Pickett will kill Sawyer but he never makes any moves toward that motive when Ben is around. Juliette wants Ben dead so she keeps that tidbit to herself. I think the "other Others" has been right in front of us but every episode we get a bit of a clearer picture of where that line is drawn.

So yeah, I think Tom knew. Either he is with Ben and Sawyer getting killed wasn't as important as watching over Ben's operation and Jack, or he is with Juliette and wanted to make sure he was there to be a witness to Ben's "accidental" death if there should ever be question.

I think Mr. Friendly is totally dedicated to Ben. His character is being developed in a very interesting way. I get the feeling he realizes that Pickett has gone off the deep end -- and perhaps was going there even before Colleen was killed. So, Tom's totally focused on seeing his friend (Ben) through this surgery.

If you have ever been in the waiting room for a friend or loved one who is having surgery, you understand that your total focus is in that moment. Waiting for the surgery to be done is terribly nerve-wracking. You are worried and anxious.

Pickett doesn't give a rip, so he's off taking advantage of the down time. Tom cares, so he stays.

I don't like the new side of Tom. When we first saw hiw in his beard and rags he came across as an arrongant tough guy, but now they have made him into a almost sensitive guy. He shows concern for Kate and Ben, and almost comes across as a wimp.

the others know the danny wants to hurt someone for the death of collean. and i think that they know that know matter what they say to danny, he wants to take it out on sawyer because they know that sawyer isn't that great of a person anyway.

Maybe I missed something, but why did Pickett single Sawyer out to be killed? I understand that he sort of went nuts after Colleen was killed (not by Sawyer, I might add) but when did he decide to kill Sawyer? and when did everyone else, including Kate, decide to just accept it without question? It just seemed a little artificial to all of a sudden have Pickett pick this fight with Sawyer and keep threatening to kill him without pretext and have it go unquestioned. Obviously it was a plot device in the episode, but Juliet seemed totally okay telling Kate, he's gonna kill your friend but if you do this maybe he won't... Like it makes perfect sense that Pickett would want to kill Sawyer. Anyone else have the same reaction?

IMO Sawyer happens to be the person he can direct his rage/grief towards. Jack's obviously out of the question and I don't think even Pickett has it in him to execute a woman. He's acting as a lone wolf in this scenario, igoring protocol and admonishments, not to mention waiting until Ben was incapacited to make his move.

Ummm, Tom knew. Hence, telling Ben in EMFH, "You know Danny wants to kill him." And Ben responds, "Danny can wait."
