Ok, the last time I made a thread on this topic was the "saddest moment on Lost" poll/thread, and I have to say it was very popular. The only thing that didnt work out well was the poll. A lot of people said that their choice of saddest moment wasnt up there so they didnt vote.

So this time there will BE NO POLL. Hope thats what pleases the most people. :) .

So.............................for you, what was the most touching, emotional moment of season three thus far?

I hate to say it...but there hasn't been one. I was hoping to feel moved and emotional over Eko's death, but the burial was so rushed and uncaring.

The characters all seem emotionally stunted at the moment - apart from Kate who is sooo weepy and whimpery in almost every scene that I wanna slap the hysterical woman. For gawds sake get a grip, girl! You used to be cool.

I reckon Desmonds ep might be sad though.

Well from the little bits and pieces I saw the scene where Jack and Kate finally got to see each other again, were pretty emotional.

Yeah, I agree. Jack and Kate's scene was touching and subtle. I got most emotional during that one. Everything else has either been over-emotional or under-emotional.

Jack/Kate Hydra scene was the best with subtley (sp?).

But most emotional, my vote would go for the scene after Colleen dies, and Pickett is destroying Sawyer. And Kate is just in shambles.

I reckon Desmonds ep might be sad though.

I've seen the promos and pics and I can't wait to see it - I think we'll learn a lot from this one. Is it supposed to be ep8? Not sure if it's a Des or Charlie centric ep though.

Ep8 is Desmond centric, but (without spoiling anything) Charlie looks to have a very significant role in this one too. It sounds like it could be one of the best eps ever.

And let's do our best to stay on the OPs topic of most emotional moment so far...:)

Well, I'm not "shipping" but I have really thought the scenes of Kate and Sawyer to be very emotional. But mostly for what is happening to Sawyer. Kate just happens to be the one involved in the scenes.

I've really hated him being beaten - I hate physical violence; can't watch boxing. Also, I feel like he was probably physically abused as a chlld and it just gives me the creeps.

However, I love the evolution of the character to care about someone other than himself and I applaud Josh Holloway for helping us to understand the "humaness" of what Sawyer is going through.

I lay down the challenge to the creators/writers to continue this evolution, all the while keeping Sawyer the "complex guy". Find the Balance.

The only thing in season 3 that actually got me moving emotionally was Pickett crushed after Colleen died and going to beat the crap out of Sawyer. I almost got misty-eyed from the intensity.

There hasn't been an emotional moment in season 3 yet. I thought the flashback of eko walking with his brother as he was dying was kinda sad but beside that no emotional bits as of yet. IMO

I agree. You could feel Pickett's rage, and Kate just sitting in her cage helpless while she saw a man she loved being beaten down was harsh. And for Sawyer not being able to fight back was devastating, especially in front of the women he loves.

Sawyer was about to get shot that was intense. The music was amazing.

I also was very emotional when Jin was screaming for Sun in the water after she got thrown off the boat.

Ok maybe not sad, but I was very emotional when Benry was shaking the bunny cage!

BUT I agree with other people because my MOST emotional scene was the Kate/Jack scene. They had not seen eachother since she blinked her eyes at him on the dock. Jack had been in isolation for the entire time without ever seeing his friends. Then Kate was there; right in front of him. They were so close and yet they couldn't even touch. So tragic!

I agree about the scene with Jin and Sun in the water and Sawyer gettin bitten. As for Ecko' s death... didn't feel a thing. I was surprised because i liked the character. He was such an interesting character at first and he was the strong guy/leader of the tailies but it seems that there were too many strong guys/leaders and they had to get rid of one.

I was crying when Kate was getting it on with Sawyer!:20:

:hissy:

I also find the whole captivity to be emotional.

Ooh I find it so hard to pick just one moment... I think EMFH was quite an emotional episode, when Pickett was beating up Sawyer right by Kate's cage & there was nothing either of them could do about it & they seemed so helpless, but so sweet, it was a bit of an emotion mixer for me.
But also the looks on their faces when Kate got out of her cage & tried to get Sawyer free but he wouldn't go & then she retracted the 'I love him' but still got back in her cage, showing just how much louder actions speak than words... They just both looked so hurt & scared and then both so close to tears and it was just so...Aaaw!
*cough*

And as for Eko's death/burial, it was sad, Locke's speech & the clip of young Eko & Yemi as Eko was dying both brought a tear to my eye, but neither of them were long enough to be really emotional. I think the deaths on Lost need to be more, sort of drawn out, to make them more emotional. Like Boone's death. :rip:

Oh and when Jin & Sun call each other in the water = Kawaii (Damn, that's japanese, if only i knew the Korean for cute...)
Um, I have to go now and I'm going on a bit so I'll stop,.

(Wow what a mixed emotion post...)

What about the last scene of the season when he's radioing Kate and basically holding Ben hostage.. that was pretty emotional.

When Sawyer got the gun over his head, and the look of resignation on his face touched me a lot. For a second, I was convinced that the Other would pull the trigger ... and that would be the dramatic moment of the mini-season.

For me, the most emotional moment (nice alliteration!) was the last scene between Jack and Sarah in A Tale of Two Cities. Sarah's tearful but spot-on comments to Jack were heartbreaking to watch.

In ToTC when Jack asks "Is she...happy?" to Juliet's "what would you like to find out?" It was Jack's 'let go' moment, I didn't expect him to say something like that and it brought tears to my eyes for some reason.

I was kind of stunned by Ben in ep6 when he was talking to Jack about the operation.

Usually he's so in charge, confident, superior even. It's the first time we've seen him vulnerable and scared ... he really let his guard down.

OK, he had recovered himself enough by the next scene when he surprised Jack looking at the TV screens ... but just for a minute there he was truly vulnerable.

I found that pretty moving. :thud:

I was in tears the first time I watched the Jack/Kate reunion, although I thought it was much more intense in the sneak peak.

I also thought it was quite sad when Sawyer finally found out there wasn't much chance of escape left anymore, and you could just see the hope fade from his eyes.

And Jack crying alot in the first episode, you just want to give him a hug lol

There were a lot of sad Sawyer moments for me so far in this mini-series.

haha! Everyone felt bad for Jack!

I think that one of the most emotional moments was the scene in the first episode where kate and sawyer see each other in captivity for the first time. From the look on Kate's face when she's walking in and sees Sawyer to him throwing her the fish biscuit, it was just beautifully done.

This was also really the first time that we'd seen Sawyer reveal his concern and love for Kate, or for anyone, really.

Yeah, Sawyer being harmed every two seconds wasn't too pleasant, the only thing was as much as it makes you sad, its also cringing with the fact hes being smacked in the face so much, especially with the metal stick, and its like eeeww that has to hurt.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but whenever I see Jack crying yet again, it just completely turns me off. He does it too much.

Yeah Jack is a bit of a crybaby. I mean, I feel for him and all but he had too many emotional scenes this season so far. Way too many. And only one or two of those really "sad" scenes actually got me.

I can only name one instance when Jack shouldn't have been brought to tears. During all of the other times, it was very understandable why he cried and I imagine that most people would have done the same thing in a similar situation. Give the guy a break. :)

As for what I think the most emotional moment has been so far, I would have to say Kate being reunited with Jack for the first time since they were captured.

Last 5 minutes or so of "I Do" without question. Lots of different emotions going through me during that ending.

I did find it pretty sad how unmoved I was by Eko dying, but that probably doesnt count. Just badly executed.

Yeah, OK, I did enjoy that scene.
We see Jack's true feelings for Kate, which is what motivates him to pull the stunt on Ben.

I was watching the Exodus episodes last night, and I think my most moving Jack moment is when Sawyer is telling him how he met Christian in Sydney.

It's more moving with hindsight because we know so much more about the Jack/Christian relationship now - yeah, that was really intense ... I was filling up there for a moment :sob:

You know Leyosura, I have another thread in the Lost Talk section about the S1 and S2 saddest moments. If you can't find it just go through my profile in the threads I started.

And I don't think the scene between Jack and Kate was the first where Jack revealed his true feelings for Kate:

Episode 219- Around the campfire

Kate "I'm sorry I kissed you"

Jack "I'm not"

Then Michael comes and interrupts them.

And there are many other examples too.

This scene in I Do might've been much more emotional if this was the first time Jack proposed his love for her, but it wasn't, so the scene wasn't as powerful

My most emotional moment was definately Eko's death. I was so angry- he's one of my most favorite characters, and now he is gone. There is so much more I wanted to know about him and his relationship with his brother! I'm so mad that they killed him off! The whole thing with Jack/Kate/Sawyer is interesting- but getting old. Start showing some other cast members!

I'd say the most emotional moment for me is when Ben asks Jack if he believes in God in episode 5. There are actually tears in his eyes. It's sort of stunning.

Lost, to me though, isn't that emotional of a show. The only time I've ever gotten choked up is when Michael, Walt, Sun, and Jin leave on the raft and everyone is saying good-bye. The music is pretty. :)

Looking back, I'd have to say no scene really compares in terms of emotional intensity to the one where Sawyer is being beaten almost to death, and Kate is shrieking in confusion and terror and trying to somehow protect him with her bare arms. Great acting by Evie. At the end when it is over she is a total wreck, crying hysterically against his bloody head. A hard scene to rewatch, too intense and real.

for me it was either Eko's death, or the part where Jack watches the video of the Red Sox winning the world series - because we knew he grew up hearing and thinking that would never happen, it really worked for me on an emotional level...

Dezdemona
11-30-2006, 08:16 PM
Lots of worthy contenders in this category because it was a very emotional arc and I really felt for the characters all through it. There were times I was touched by just an expression on someone's face: Kate when she first saw Sawyer in the cage; Sawyer when he first saw Kate and again when he registered how weary and emotionally worn down she was wielding that pick ax; later on Jack when he first saw Kate; Sawyer looking across the water at "home" with such a longing look, Kate reeling as she turned to climb back into her cage in EMFH; Eko when he realized that the "man" in front of him wasn't really Yemi at all; Jin watching the boat with Sun on it pull away from the dock and disappear into the dark, exactly the way the raft had done.

There were whole scenes that touched me as well: Jack breaking down completely at the end of ATOTC; Kate's defiance at breakfast with Ben; Sawyer striding over to kiss her because she needed a break and a distraction, knowing damn well he was going to get a beating for it; later on the love scenes between Sawyer and Kate; and of course the scene with Jin and Sun calling to each other in the dark ocean, desperate to find each other. Then there was that amazing scene with a terrified and confused Kate reaching through the bars trying to protect Sawyer from Pickett, and Sawyer not lifting so much as a finger to defend himself for fear of the threats Ben had made against Kate. There were several other scenes too, but those are the first that come to mind.

Having said all that, however, the scenes that stand out the most for me emotionally, that moved me the most deeply, were the scenes with Kate and Sawyer in the rain juxtaposed alongside the scenes with Jack all alone in the operating room trying to pull off a coup. Watching these three people laying their lives on the line for love really affected me because it represented such amazing growth for each of them, and to me, such a perfect culmination of their story arc in the mini-series. We had seen how each of them had loved someone before, but had still put themselves first. Jack's marriage took second place to his career, and when Sarah left his obsession and inability to let her go was again about his needs, not her happiness. Kate loved Kevin, but she was the taker in that relationship because she lived a total lie and her selfishness in marrying him under false pretences set him up for betrayal and shame when she left. Sawyer cared about Cassidy enough to try to call off the con, but when the chips were down he conned her and left her anyhow. In the case of his daughter, he provided financially but refused to acknowledge her emotionally.

And now here they are, all of them willing to give up their very lives for the sake of the person they love, Sawyer for Kate and she for him, and Jack for both of them for Kate's sake. Television characters have rarely felt so real to me as these three people did in those scenes. I found them all beautiful in their sincerity, resolve, courage and vulnerability. It felt like perhaps their finest moment for each of them and it may sound strange, but I felt really proud of them and uplifted by their example.

yeah that was pretty intense. That episode (Every Man For Himself) had some really disturbing moments. Shaking the bunny, Sawyer getting beaten on by Pickett, Ben with the nightstick thing beating Sawyer, Pickett asking Kate if she loved Sawyer. A very emotionally charged and intense episode for me.

The main one for me, is Eko's death...the bit where you see a flashback of Eko and his brother walking up that dusty road. To me that so very poignant, and it gets me everytime. Also Sawyer on his knees in the mud, with the gun pointed at his head-that was such a powerful scene, and the build up to that was just so intense.

I found the end of EMFH really moving, when Benry quotes Of Mice to Men to Sawyer on the cliff. The quote summed up the desperate loneliness at the heart of this character so beautifully. ME's moving/creepy delivery was perfect and Sawyer's expression was heartbreaking, recognising the truth in it, however reluctantly.

Kate's desperation and Sawyer's stoic self-sacrifice at the end of I Do was also very emotional.

I'd say near the end of "I Do," when Kate was telling Sawyer to fight while unsuccessfully holding back tears...and when Sawyer was telling Kate to turn away, and Kate refused.

Also, when Tom/Zeke was on the verge of tears, telling Pickett over the walkie-talkie that Jack was going to let Benry Gale die - - that nearly brought tears to MY eyes.

Eko's Death. Specifically, a little before he died, when he kneels before his "brother" and makes that little speech, I had goosegumps and I shed a tear when we last see Eko as a child going for the horizon, happily reunited with his REAL little brother again, like a circle that finally closes, that was moving (to me)...

There were a few

Jack seeing that the Red Sox's winning the World Series
Sawyer trying to get Kate to save herself in EMFH
Jack and Kate's reunion (until Jack ruined it by playing for the camera's)
Kate begging to "do anything" to save Sawyer, and Sawyer getting down on his knees to save Kate
Ben's speech to Sawyer at the end of EMFH

I think most emotional for me was when Jack and Kate were reunited. It was so emotionally there...and it demonstrated how much Jack really cared for Kate perfectly (well, until he started yelling and all that.). Well done by Matthew IMHO. I also thought Jin and Sun yelling for each other in the ocean was adorable :).

The most emotional moment by far was....

when I saw the preview online for I Do

Because I didn't realize there was glass between them
And I am a Jater, a bit biased.

but the looks upon the characters faces.....

There's nothing like seeing your best friend after you thought they could be gone...
but when she said she looked so hurt because they were going to kill Sawyer, I don't believe that's the only reason for the depth within her expression towards Jack...I believe this was some truly good acting with deep character aknowledgment

But since I'm from Boston I also enjoyed the Red Sox clip :tv:
......especially since they alluded to it so early on.
