Hey Christina,

First, I want to tell you and the rest of the creative minds behind this incredile show: thanks! Honestly, I don't watch television, like... at all. But I watch Lost. And I actually don't even watch Lost on tv... I download it on ABC.com or iTunes, because I hate commercials, and because Lost has changed the way I look at shows... so, yes, you guys have something really special!

Okay, so, on to my point. I am writing a research paper on the theology of Lost for my sociology of religion course here at school. I am studying the dialogue between religion and science in the TV show “Lost,” because I want to find out the way the show functions as a medium for discussion of religion in society and how television functions as a sacred text in society, in order to determine the relationship between religion and popular culture.

Through the seasons I have noticed the striking theme of faith versus reason, and I believe that Lost plays an incredible role as a medium for religious discussion in secular society. I have found hundreds of forums, blogs, and websites of die-hard fans analyzing the plot (what-means-what, theorizing, etc.), in my research thus far. However, I would love to hear what Lost says. I have looked through posts from VIP members for hours and notice that you seem to be one of the more faithful responders to fan-posts, so I ask you: Are my speculations correct? Is faith versus reason the underlying theme? I read what fans are saying but what is Lost saying? Could you give me any inside direction on what to think about what I have seen through season 3? Are there any other resources you would suggest?

I realize that this is a pretty loaded post, but I would greatly appreciate your feedback! Thanks, and keep up the good work!
