Hello.

Way back in series 2, Brian was sent messages from Walt via the computer.

Is it possible that the guy in the eye-patch that we briefly saw in series 3, was actually watching Brian and was able to send messages into his comp?

hmmm....

Since there's no evidence, i'll reserve judgement until we find out more about the eye-patch man.

Who is Brian?

Walt's step-father. His mother dumped Michael, married him, and he became the legal father.

We don't know it was the Others who sent Michael the messages. It's likely they at least influenced the messages being sent, but we don't know.

When, exactly did Walt sent Brian messages on the computer? I don't remember that.

Interesting ideas. I'd never thought about it that way.

and that man would be me..

..but at least you get the point..

Just the other day, me and my pal from work , a fellow Lost fan, were trying to think of Claires name. We were so sure it started with B and almost certain it was Brenda...

:p

Brenda was the name of Emilie's character in the movie "The Hills Have Eyes". Anyhow, on topic, I wondered that too...if Patchy is at a "computer station" as well, if he could be typing too. I thought it odd how the messages from "Walt" were typed so quickly...good keyboarding for a ten year old!

Because we saw another Apple II in the Background of Patchys lair, I guess it is a safe assumption that more on these mails will be revealed…

Now do not attempt to use the computer for anything else other than the entering of the code. This is its only function

Most kids nowadays can type better than most adults since they are taught typing in Kindergarten, plus the person typing was not Walt is was the others

Just a reminder to some of our new posters...if you want to carry on conversations with each other...do so via the PM function and not within the thread so the thread stays on topic.

Thank you...

I don't normally do this, but if anyone's interested I've got a long old thread about The Hatch Computer (http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=54697) and the communication stuff was a large part of it. If you don't fancy reading right through, the Patch stuff is just in the last couple of pages.

Yes, it would be nice to have some closure about the IM session that Michael had, but it's not really necessary to push along the plot. The creators have an overwhelming number of story arcs to feed and many small mysteries like this will most likely remain unsolved.

Regardless of who or what sent the message, it provoked Michael to go postal and trek across the island looking for his son. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter who sent the message?

No worries Macevangelist...we do things a little different here...( or a lot..depends on with whom you discuss it)...

I recommend clicking on the rules link in my siggy to get head's up on how we do things.

Happy posting...

actually it could, if Walt was hooked up to some machine and being experimented on and he used his psychic powers to communicate with michael then Walt sending the messages could play a big role in the grand scheme.

mmmm when I read the thread I thought the OP meant to say Michael but they mixed up his name and said Brian. I thought TTM was playfully following suit and misnaming Vincent, Victor.
Or maybe I'm the one who doesn't get it

Oh...I get the question. I never thought about it...when Walt typed the message, I had always just assumed he had either just found the computer or had been trying to type to someone for awhile, and he was just grateful to find someone who answered. I never thought about Walt actually having someone in mind that he was trying to communicate with, but it's a plausible theory. Walt didn't know there were computers in the hatch- he doesn't even know what's in the hatch(or at least we're supposed to assume he doesn't), so it would make sense for him to be attempting to type to someone he knew had a computer.

Of course, this also opens a new line of questions. If Walt was trying to talk to Brian, and there was some kind of system to where Walt knew who he could be talking to, then why wasn't he successful? Do the Others have that quick and kind of control over their communication systems to the outside? Or was Walt in another hatch with a computer that wasn't supposed to be used for communication?

Nice theory!

No, it's not you Pen, it's totally me. I got the Brian/Michael mix-up, but thought I'd missed something when TTM mentioned Victor. I get it now, sorry for confusing you with my confusion :D

Pretty sure it was Frankie Han who was typing the messages to Victor.
