View Full Version : Juliet's Special
Ladybug_ocean 02-07-2007, 11:59 PM The Others' recruiting guy said so and then she wills her ex husband to get hit by a bus. She joins the ranks of Walt, Desmond, and possibly Locke. Didn't really see that coming.
ETA: I guess "will" is the wrong word. I don't mean she wanted him to die, more like she somehow caused it. Sorta like how Walt caused that bird to crash into the window.
jennylee27 02-08-2007, 12:04 AM I caught the "special" right away. I think they left it deliberately vague, so you could think Alpert somehow was involved in the bus accident, but we are supposed to wonder if Juliet willed it to happen.
YellowTang 02-08-2007, 12:08 AM The thing is, she had time to wish him dead and also to wish her sister pregnant. So, it could be the Mittleso involvement rather than Juliet who willed the occurance. Juliet seemed genuinely shocked. Just saying.. I do agree a point was seemingly made. Let's say it was ambiguous.
imaaronsmom 02-08-2007, 12:09 AM With all we've seen that the Others are capable of and the fact that Ethan shows up there in the morgue, I'm not thinking that Juliette willed this to happen. Perhaps just a convient accident staged by Dharma, Whitmore, whoever is running this experiment.

Yes, that occurred to me too, that it was the others' doing. That probably is more likely but I like the idea that a lot of people on the island will be revealed to be special.

Not to mention the fact that she bumped into Ethan in the hallway of her sister's apartment at the very beginning.
QueenElessar 02-08-2007, 12:22 AM The whole bus thing was so incredibly creepy! And I really felt like Halpert and co. were somehow behind it. I don't see how they could be NATURALLY..but there was something going on. Why else would he say he couldn't remember her even saying it in the interview. It wasn't a throwaway comment. She was crying...and then apologized for saying it. He remembered...
LostLaura 02-08-2007, 12:28 AM He remembered. He was creepy. He did it.
I believe they left it ambiguous on purpose, but I choose to believe that they caused it.
Plus, them knowing that her sister is pregnant? Who is to say that they didn't help that along too? She saw Ethan in the hallway of her sister's apt. building, for goodness sake! Yikes... creepy.

Creepier still would be if Ethan were the father. :eek2: (Not likely, I know, but looking back it certainly does make one pause...)
LostLaura 02-08-2007, 12:39 AM Actually, after reading other comments tonight, I am starting to think that Ethan might have helped the cause along... he could have been injecting her with something else entirely... and I do mean that literally or figuratively. Yikes.
RodimusBen 02-08-2007, 12:40 AM Well, the obvious fact that Ethan had been spying on Juliet for some time (she recognizes him, and sees him in the beginning of the episode) is the most interesting to me. Obviously she doesn't blame him for her incarceration on the island, since he seems to be on amicable terms with her in the season 3 premiere.
Save The Humans 02-08-2007, 12:41 AM IMHO, Ethan was either living or lurking about Rachel's apartment complex--on orders from Albert and Mittelos. Part of their "thorough background check."
Yeah, the bus was Albert's doing, not Juliet's. And I bet he was THRILLED to learn how malleable Juliet was. (The Island has sure cured her wimpiness!)
Angela12 02-08-2007, 12:45 AM Albert TOTALLY was responsible for it. I saw the bus coming down the street while they were talking and I knew it was going to happen. It still made me jump when it did, though.
1voice 02-08-2007, 12:59 AM Did anyone catch a screencap of the bus? How much do you want to bet it has "Hanso" or something on it?
Edit: I just read at LostPedia that it was an Apollo bus. Just what I thought. :)
sioux21 02-08-2007, 01:00 AM I thought Alpert's reaction when Juliet said that she would come work for Mittelos if her ex got hit by a bus said it all. He looked like he was thinking, gee, if that's all it will take...
emmadoggy 02-08-2007, 01:01 AM It didn't even occur to me that Juliet might have manifested the bus incident, but that is an interesting thought. I just assumed it was Alpert/Mittelos.
The idea of Juliet being "special" is interesting though and it may not be connected at all, but remember in ATOTC that her book club selection - her "favorite" book - was CARRIE.
Hmmm.......
Locked_In 02-08-2007, 03:03 AM Juliet was conned. Big time.
kgosal 02-08-2007, 03:12 AM i don't think that the others had anything to do with her getting her sister pregnant... if the others did that why would they want juliet?
the idea is that she is supposed to be "special"

I want a screencap of the bus driver... ten bucks says it was Ethan. Dude gets more creepy with every appearance....
BrandonHasTheKeys 02-08-2007, 04:08 AM If Juliet's so special, why can't she just wish herself a way off the island?
shera11 02-08-2007, 10:29 AM If Juliet's so special, why can't she just wish herself a way off the island?
Well, since the sky turned purple...you know the rest....
LostLaura 02-08-2007, 11:41 AM I definitely think that it was Alpert who did it, BUT.... I really think we are meant to *specifically* connect Walt's bird crashing into the window with this incident (not just the fact that Walt is "special"). The two crashes are too similiar.... it's definitely a recurring theme for the Long Lost List...
rabidranger 02-08-2007, 11:45 AM My take (similar to most) is Juliet (and her skills) was deemed so desirable by whoever Mr. Alpert and Ethan worked for that they went so far as to facilitate Burke's demise (taken very literally) and cause Rachel's pregnancy (although I doubt she lived to see the birth-or at least died shortly shortly thereafter). Thus, they were able to remove the two impediments that were keeping Juliet from joining them.
