Am I the only one who thought of A Clockwork Orange during the brainwashing scene and Rashomon during the scene where Alex leads Sawyer and Kate to the "room" and we see the guard outside in the rain? And Star Wars, of course. Did anyone catch any others?

The film being shown in the room was VERY similar to scenes in
THE PARALLAX VIEW (c.1974) film starring Warren Beatty- that was also copied in the REM video for "Fall On Me"

I definetly thought of Final Destination when Juliet's ex-husband was hit by the bus. That was probably just a coincidence but oh well.

I posted in another thread that the brainwashing scene (duh, that was the thread, lol) reminded me of A Clockwork Orange. I expected his eyes to be pinned open instead of those goggles for sure.

I got the Clockwork Orange thing too.... Notice how Sawyer got sucked into it without all the apparatus that Carl had on him..??

I have another semi-obscure one...I picked up what appeared to be a reference to the movie WILLARD. Juliet mentioned in one of the flashbacks that she had impregnated a male rat. Well, thinking back to the movie (both versions), the male rat that was Willard's friend was---Ben. Which leads me to a bizarre thought...is Ben both Alex's father and mother (so to speak)?

Thats a great catch and I definitely think we should be open to the possibility that men have been impregnated on the island. My question though about Ben being both father and mother is the rousseau factor - isn't she Alex's mother?? So confused, and loving every minute :)
