If the Others are interested in reproductive research of some kind, it would explain why Claire was taken by Ethan and the needles that were used on her. Might also explain why Locke is "good" if the injections have some kind of healing ability to damaged tissue (such as repairing a woman's womb) could also repair paralyzed limbs?
