Will someone kick me up to speed on the connection between Locke and Sayids childhood sweetheart ? I saw the brief clip of them together and I guess I missed that epi.

Oh, I forget which episode it was shown in, but one of Locke's many job was a real estate agent in California.... and Nadia came to look at a house he was selling.

Sayid & Nadia's story is in the episode "Solitary".

They were childhood friends, but she joined the resistence to Saddam Hussein which led to her interrogation by the Republican Guard (e.g., that's where Sayid worked), so they reconnected.

She had been charged with something that resulted in here being sentenced to be executed so they colluded a plan for her escape.

She left him with the picture you may have seen him with (that has an inscription on it that says something like "you will see me in the next life, if not this one".)

We later see her in the scene with Locke in Los Angeles in the real estate transaction.

Yeah, I was shocked I missed that connection before! I didn't recognise Nadia, If I remember correctly, Locke had made a reference about her husband; she paused for a second (as if in flashback mode) and answered she wasn't married...maybe thinking of Siayed? :undecide:

I think she was thinking of Sayid. Maybe wondering if they'll ever ben together again.

That's correct. He then leaves from there and goes home where he meets Helen and "friends" (thugs from whom his "father" has taken money from and Locke has the money in his briefcase!!)

Hey Mr. C! That is so funny...this very question was what brought me to the Fuse! I was on the ABCmessage boards and I was saying, How do we even know if Nadia's alive? Didn't Sayid say she was dead? But someone pointed out the Connections bit to me and I re-watched (I must have missed it - it was quick)

I do wonder still why Sayid said Nadia was dead.

These connections are what kills me because what are the odds Locke and Sayid will ever put this together, or even that Locke would remember...it's so similar to life though :balloon:

I think that's going to be the case with most of the connections - the characters will never put them together. Generally, I guess that's ok (who really cares that Kate's mom served coffee to Sawyer?), but it seems like their would be some narrative potential for Jack knowing Sarah was in the car accient that killed Shannon's father, or for Desmond learning the woman he got his boat from also ended up on the island.

When locke had dealings with nadia would have been at least 5 years prior to the crash, I doubt he would remember her, she also has a hijab(if improper spelling I appologize) on, so she could look quite different
