Anyone think this is just coincidence?

View Full Version : Sawyer, Juliet in Miami mrain01 02-08-2007, 10:32 AM Anyone think this is just coincidence? carodeluxe 02-08-2007, 10:44 AM Not to make things too simplistic, but it easily could be just a coincidence. Lost is filmed in Hawaii. It must be infinitely easier to make a scene in a Hawaiian street pass for Miami rather than, say, Chicago or new York. I'm thinking it's just a way to cut down on production costs... richlost 02-08-2007, 11:01 AM Kate lived in Miami too. annie_monica 02-08-2007, 02:28 PM Agreed, all coincidences. erins 02-08-2007, 02:37 PM Not to make things too simplistic, but it easily could be just a coincidence. I'll disagree! ;) Sure, Lost is probably all about cutting down on production costs .. but really, Miami wouldn't necessarily have to be mentioned as the location. There are plenty of other "tropical" looking places that Hawaii could be turned into besides Miami. I don't think it's coincidence. TPTB know that we analyze TO DEATH each and every breath that is uttered on this show ... they're not just going to throw 3 random Miami references out there and hope that we just blow it off as coincidence. I agree. Three Miami references is 2 too many for this show. ;) missed_the_plane 02-08-2007, 03:00 PM I completely agree, NOT coincidence. I blurted this idea out the instance we knew Juliette was in Miami. There are thousands of other places it could have been in order to cut down costs, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, LA, Mexico, etc. This is clearly something. LostMyMarbles 02-08-2007, 04:09 PM Wait! When was Sawyer in Miami? I only remember Tampa. Baileysdad 02-08-2007, 04:23 PM I was thinking the same thing...about the "Tampa Job.." When was there a reference to him in Miami?? Stuz1 02-08-2007, 07:03 PM Being from Miami myself, I think its funny that Kate, Saywer and now Juliette were supossedly living there. I cannot imagine a more unlikely group of gringos hanging out in Miami. Miami is an international city with a latin flavor and yet three of the whitest people on the show have made their homes there. Good times. mrain01 02-08-2007, 09:47 PM I have to recant slightly. Sawyer was in Florida, but perhaps not Miami. Kate, however, was indeed in Miami. Kevin worked for Miami-Dade police. Good times. Had to be down in Homestead lol Save The Humans 02-08-2007, 11:09 PM THANK you, LMM and BD! My first reaction to this thread title was: when did Tampa move to Miami? :dizzy: Kate was headed to Florida (Tallahassee) when she first became a fugitive. Once escaping from Ed Mars, she probably calculated that it would be far less likely that she'd be found in a great big metropolis than in a small city. Thus, Miami. Though "connections" are found everywhere in this show, I think that Kate and Juliet being in the same metropolis isn't THAT weird. Juliet worked there; Kate wanted to go to Florida (though I have no idea why). Maybe this is a sometimes a duck is just a duck thing? Of course, this could just be a matter of lots of people go to Florida (plenty LIVE there, too!); the place has no blizzards and lots of sunshine. Why MORE lostaways didn't show up there may be the question! :D do_it_for_johnny 02-10-2007, 04:58 PM It can't be a coincidence -- of all the states in the country, three of the losties on a plane of a hundred or so are in Florida all at the same time and two in the same city? Maybe it doesn't have that much of a weight on any type of outcome or anything, but I don't think it's just a "coincidence" that the writers didn't notice they were doing. coupons 02-14-2007, 01:03 PM It's the Sunshine State Minestrone 02-14-2007, 03:12 PM I think it feels like a red herring... |
