I'm currently taking a course in Psychopharmacology, and we recently discussed LSD Psychotherapy. I thought Alpert was familiar - he was the Dr. dismissed at Harvard, along with Dr. Timothy Leary, for not adhering to the standards of LSD research (he doled out LSD to the undergraduates, and studied them at his private mansion).

The LSD portion is intersting, but more-so, we have another scientist who is less concerned with ethics and more concerned with radical science.

One other quick thing of note . . . whether or not the www.mittelosbioscience.org (http://www.mittelosbioscience.org) site is legit or not, when you click on the 'executive bios' section, and scroll over the 'non picture' of Dr. Alpert, you see the name Albert Hoffman. Albert Hoffman is the first scientist to synthesize LSD. Weird stuff indeed.

Before Gregg Nations confirmed it was a hoax I had found and posted in another thread that on the Mittelos Bioscience site-

In the executive bios if you hover over the photo (that isnt really a photo but...) for Richard Alpert it will say Albert Hofmann. Dr.Hofmann is a prominent scientist best known as the father of LSD. If he is still living , and i believe he is , then the good Dr. is now over 101 years of age.

Makes me wonder if some of the much discussed "lost time" can be attributed to everybody trippin' on life extention drugs. Not that Id know anything about such things- Im a respectable old woman -If you dont believe me ask my grandson , his name is Jack Sawyer.

Hi Sno - I just found your post in the Mittelos Recruiters thread. I think we have a theme here pertaining to rogue scientists, yes?

Richard Alpert AKA "Ram Dass" wrote about his life changing trip to the middle east in his book "Be Here Now".The book consists of a brief history of alperts research with LSD and other Psychedelics and his decision to take a more enlightend path and go east. After the brief history there are 108 pages of illustrated poems and teachings he learned from his guru. on the 108th page there is a drawing of a smiling girl holding up some buddhist symbol, behind her is the ocean and a tropical island. pretty weird coincidence.

The official Ram Dass website has lots of lovely pictures of tropical islands as well. IMDB lists Dr. Alpert's first name as Richard, so I just think we may be discussing research and experiementation with psychedelics on The Fuselage in the near future.

Alpert's book "Be Here Now" has a picture of a child with the caption "Namaste".

Excellent! Alpert/Albert Hoffman. Nice catch! By the way, Hoffman's research was attempting to find drugs to help treat mental illness. He accidently "tripped" when he absorbed it through his fingers. The research was conducted in '41 I think.

then theres aldo - aldous huxley, author of brave new world was a well documented LSD user, and wrote some of his books, like the doors of perception while using, he eventually died of an overdose, his famous last words asking for a shot

Just a small correction. Yes, Huxley died with LSD in his bloodstream, but he was on his deathbed because of cancer and as he knew the time was drawing near, he asked for LSD to help facilitate the passage from life to death.

People don't die of "overdoses" of LSD....they can die because of doing stupid things while on the drug, but it is not a drug one overdoses on and dies from.

Thanks for cool info. I found this site. Note the little graphic at the page heading, the furthest one from "ohm". It is very similar to one of the frames in the 'brain wash video'...the frame with the little pics organised into this shape.

With all of the mirrored skies, and room setups, I guess we could mirror a w and make it an m....but we'd be using it twice then.

I consider the island to be somewhat a psychedelic drug.It is definetly "mind manifesiting"! the human brain produces DMT the strongest psychedelic known. maybe the island is capable of regulating these kinds of chemicals in the losties brains. That could exlpain lockes shamanic knowledge and his mysterious bond with the island. just a thought.
