Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last post.
I was thinking about what we've been hearing lately from the creators about the outside world and about the hidden clue in the recent episode ("Lost Time").
The theme of time got me thinking. When Desmond met Jack in "Man of Science, Man of Faith" in the past, it looked to be at least 10 years ago (before he was married, before a lot of the dad issues, etc). However - Desmond was just getting ready for his solar race at that point. That got me thinking - if it was around 10ish years ago in Jack's time, but Desmond was only on the island for 3 years, there HAS to be a time discrepincy between the island and the real world.
The creators have hinted at this possibility numerous times in podcasts and interviews, and I think this sounds like real proof. What do you guys think?

I could see that being a possible twist. I also think that the original "others" are a lot older than they appear. Maybe that's why Ben doesn't want to leave the island because in "Real World" time he's 90 years old. I think of the Pirates of the Caribbean when the guy goes from the dark to the moonlight and he's a skeleton.

Interesting. Is the anomaly in time being faster than that in the outside world? Or is it people's metabolisms are faster? Alex looks to be about16 years old, nothing unusual there. But then again, that Walt kid shot up so fast while he was captured you would think a year had passed.

I don't think it was 10 years. I think it was at most 4 years. Since I think Desmond said that, the reace began in 8 months, or something like that. I think Jack and ______ (forgot wifes name) were married for like 2-3 years, That still gives year-half a year for his daddy issuues. Thats just my poinion.

According to the pre-crash timeline at Lostpedia.com.
2001
Sarah is injured in the car wreck.
Desmond meets Libby at a coffee shop (in the LAX airport?) and she gives him her husband's boat.
Jack performs surgery on Sarah.
Desmond meets Jack at the Stadium.
Sarah can feel her legs again.
Desmond embarks on the boat race.
Desmond arrives on the island and starts pushing the button with Kelvin.2003
Jack married Sarah, two years after he fixed her
2004
July - Christian Shepherd operates on a patient under the influence and Jack reports it.
So, sometime between 2003 and 2004, Jack and Sarah's marriage had to disintegrate because Christian was still a doctor when Sarah left Jack.
I think as far as time being different on the Island, I think all the clues about being cut off from the outside world after the failsafe key was turned in the Swan could mean that time started diverging there. It would seem to make sense. It's also a great clue that we'll be seeing Michael and Walt again.
