View Full Version : That Big Band Music has got to be very important

At the beginning of Season 3 there was a summary show to start the season. That summary show and the Lost Survivor Guide show both included the same small clip. Remember when Hurley brought Sayid the radio and they sat and tried to get a station. The only station they could pick up seemed to be from the 1940's. Hurley even mentions that the big band music could have come from another time.

We've had several small scenes like that one that seem to be important. But that little scene has been brought back to our attention twice now.

Also, since Mittelos is an anagram for Lost Time we need to take a whole new look at the aspect of time and the island.

Mittelos is also an anagram of 'Lost Item'. Does that mean we need to pay mroe attention to every item that appears on the show?

And it's almost an anagram of Mistletoe. Will we be getting a Christmas special?

There was a lot of discussion about this at the time. Points of interest:

1. Glen Miller's plane disappeared over the English Channel in 1944. Neither the plane nor any bodies were ever discovered. Sort of like our Losties.

2. The radio station they picked up, WXR, was a US Army station which broadcast in 1945 out of Kodiak, Alaska. Were Penn's Portuguese guys who picked up the hatch anomalie in Alaska?

When I hear Moonlight Serenade it always reminds me of the movie Big (with Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins), and they kiss for the first time when that song is playing. (I love that movie!! )

The Glenn Miller thing with the music is really, I feel, not an accident.
I would not be surprised if the "real " Glenn Miller etc wandered into the Losties world and said "Hi".
The Island is an anomaly and the people captured thus are paradoxically very much like those bugs captured in amber....

just rewatched that scene after listening to moonlight serenade.. the song played in the radio is not moonlight serenade. its a track sounding very similar, maybe another peace of glenn miller..........

No, it definitely was Moonlight Serenade by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Actually most people say it's "Lost Time". Which plays in with Desmond and all that jazz.

Or programmed the song, Good Vibrations, into the jamming equipment in the LG.
