Not sure if this is where this belongs but I'm sure it will be moved if it isn't. I decided to start a new post about this because it has been on my mind and something briefly talked about in some of the forums. Okay so with Desmond's powers, I believe he actually did have them before he came to the island, and maybe they were disabled or hindered because of the electromagnetism. As stated before he might have had them prior to the island because he was adament about Jack fixing Sara, he painted the mural, which may have been the key to all of Lost itself. The thing everyone is questioning is why would he sail around the world in a race if he knew he would end up on the island? Maybe because he knew he had to help the plane survivors, just maybe? I know its a long shot but, it could happen.
