Was anybody else getting the Final Destination vibes?

First the scaffolding falling on the man in the red shoes, and then all of the stuff about how some people are just meant to die and you just can't stop it...

I wondered when someone would bring this up... Yes, reminded me very much of Final Distination!! De ja vu?

Yep, final destination was the first thing I thought of when he asked the lady why he didn't save that man. I love those movies, and I love anything that deals with time travel. I think this show may now own me on a completely new level.

final destination has to be my favorite guilty pleasure thriller. Really good concept,

Yes. Final Destination. Interesting that it is Charlie (~young adult) that is faced with this dilemma. All the characters in those movies were like Charlie's age.

Me, too. That kind of freaks me out though...waiting for something to happen to someone. "This is going to be it...here it comes, here it comes...this is it..." Those movies make me agoraphobic. Poor Charlie.

first thing i thought of when the old lady was talking about our "destinies" was final destination...obviously much better than the movies, which kind of sucked

Yes as soon as that guy with the red shoes got crushed I got that vibe, and now Charlie has to deal with it.

The FD movies were definitely the first things that ran through my mind when I heard Desmond telling Charlie that he was doomed to die.

Ya FInal Destination is awsome, but i hope they would have thought of something more original if that is the case. Not only plagarism.

To go along with FD theme...

in the "Pilot", Jack gets up from his seat, Charlie runs by, and Jack sits back down in a different seat. He was 23A when Cindy gave him the bottles of vodka and ends up in 23C when the plane crashes. In "Exodus Part I" we learn his seat should have been 23B. Jack was not sitting where he was "intended by fate" to sit and therefore did not die in the crash as he was supposed to. Maybe that's the truth of "Jacob's List" - it's the list of people who would survive the crash and Jack was not on the "list". Likewise Charlie changed seats at the last minute and avoided instant death.

Or maybe they all should have died and now the island and smokey will set things right.

People get inspired by other concepts all the time... it's not plagarism. Should there be only one book about time travel? who came up first with the idea? Were all the other books about time travel plagarism? ;)
