Did anyone else notice the movie Out of Sight reference? When Desmond walks out of the building after meeting Penny's dad, he rips off his tie and throws it to the ground. Same exact thing George Clooney did in Out of Sight after his interview... then he went over to the bank across the street to rob it. Are the writers pulling a de ja vous - or just a coinsedence?

I've never seen the movie you are referencing, but I've seen a lot of irritated men tug at their ties, some even thowing them down in disgust. I just took it as a general sign of frustration on his part and a rejection of the "uniform" he put on to attend the interview.
More interesting about his clothing was that he was a painter in a jumpsuit in his previous life, and in the hatch he wore a jumpsuit, too. Perhaps that is his fashion destiny?
