Apollo Bars are BACK in a big way....There was an ad for them on the side of the bus that hit Juliette's loser ex-hubby last week...and they are back tonite! Miss them? Have a look here:

http://lost.cubit.net/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=220

There's also an Oceanic Airlines ad...and Mr. Cluck's! Man...this eppy was jammed packed. Any others?

.this eppy was jammed packed.

It was.
I think Des's mention that he was a "set designer for Shakespearean plays" itself was an audio easter egg, i.e. a pointer to the many visual easter eggs on the set of FBYE.
I'd love to have the cd, right now.

edit: And it dawns on me that the title "Flashes Before Your Eyes" had an extra meaning too - the many easter eggs flashing before *our* eyes.

Let's not forget the polar bear...what great eppy of Lost is complete without a polar bear? Where was he? Hiding in Charles Widmore's office...Namaste!

I caught the polar bear in the painting but I didn't see the Apollo bar ad or any of the rest! I love it. :thumbup1: I bet there's even more yet.

One question... Gannon car rentals???

This was listed in another thread that was closed but linked to this one...

Where has Gannon appeared before - can someone refresh my (ever-growing) clouded memory??

What's the deal with the whole Apolla bars anyway? I read somewhere that there was some kind of explanation of them in the Lost Experience. I hadn't really done any "research" on lost until about a week ago, so I missed the meaning of the Apollo bars.

Anyone care to fill me in?

Speaking of Easter eggs, I flipped out when I thought I saw one.

On the red shoes. The first scene when he gets crushed. Is that the Dharma Initative logo on the side of his shoe? Am I just seeing things?

I wish I had TiVo so I could check, but I don't. I think I saw it though...

Wow! Great finds!!!

I am also confused about the Apollo bars. I know a LOT about the Apollo space program, but don't see a connection there--or is it more Apollo from Greek/Roman mythology?

I love it when you guys put up screen caps so the tech challenged (ME) can see this stuff. Thank you!

Hope it's not just a joking reference to the mild "Jeff Gannon" fiasco in Washington. (That's a political story that's not for the kids, so I won't link to it. Look him up on Wikipedia if you want.)

not sure if this is a true easter egg or just me amusing myself, but in the scene when Des and Pen take a picture, the world famous globe theatre is in the background and it immediately reminded me of Des's statement, we are trapped in a bloody snow globe.

The three that I found aren't very big ones.. buuut.
The art work in Desmond's room above his bed is black and white, to carry on with the light/dark good/evil theme (not to mention it seems to be similiar to the one in. Mr. Widmore's office.. ie- the Mountains on it)
While Des is tying his tie, Sarah McLachlan's "Building a Mystery" is playing. Which is not so much and Easter Egg, but we all get why that's something to note on this show.. And the last one is in the ring shop the clock behind the women reads 4:42

Most of the advertisements around the football pitch were for Lost staples, including Mr Clucks, Bubbies diapers (Charlie's adventure in advertising) etc. Kronos titandioxid and RPR 103.5 however seem to be real, and I was wondering why.

It occurred to me that these two ads are behind the goal and partially obscured by the net, it would therefore be too hard to photoshop a replacement, so they just let them be.

I may, of course be missing a massive clue ;-)

But what is Exposé? - it's well in the photoshop zone. I've not come across this before.

Ator
02-18-2007, 06:10 PM
Perhaps it's not Expose' (EX-Pose-Say) but rather just plain 'ol Expose (Ex-Pose)...as Des's trippy flashback was somehow exposing some details that previous flashbacks have not.

This eppie was an easter egg lovers delight. Another one, very obvious: when it comes back from the commerical, there's a shot of a clock radio by a bed, before we see Des trying to tie his tie. The time? 1:08, of course (4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108).

The song that triggers Desmundo's memory in the pub is our old friend Make Your Own Kind of Music by Mama Cass, heard at the very start of Man of Science, Man of Faith on the Swan turnable, and in a sitar version (!!) in Mathias & Henrik's polar electromagnetic monitoring station in Live Together, Die Alone.

Yes, the man in the red shoes is another Wizard of Oz allusion, Glinda tells Dorothy that she killed the Wicked Witch of the East, who wears ruby-red slippers, by dropping a house on her.

A couple of mistakes: they do a great job recreating various places in Hawaii, but when Desmond looks at the Royal Scots recruiting poster, he focuses on the tagline "Honor". Of course, UK 'lagers will know that it would be spelled "honoUr". The siren on the ambulance at the very end of that scene sounded wrong too.

The woman who tells Desmund that pushing the button will be the one great thing he'll do, her name is listed as Mrs. Hawking, Stephen Hawking, of course, being the author of the book Aldo was reading last week, A Brief History of Time.

I love the connection between Thomas' paintings, that we saw before he abandonded Claire, showing up in Charle's Widmore's office. It was explained in a DVD extra that Desmond did the mural in the Swan, it's very much in Thomas' style, that would help explain why: he remembered the paintings from Widmore's office and copied that style in his 3 years of working on the Swan mural.

1.the adult magazine in sawyers stash read Playpen, which is kinda obvious what we all connect it to.it also had ''Exploring the Brothels of singapore ''written on its cover ,which as we already know kindof forewords a forthcoming episode where jack travels in the far east and meets some woman, possibly a prostitute .in that epi,we ll also be told(supposedly) what his tats mean..id also add that the girl on the cover is a Shannon lookalike but maybe its just me...although she DOES look like her,in a brunette version
2.novel in swayers stash was Laughter in the dark'' by Vladimir Nabokov.Written back in 1932,gives a possibility that date includes cursed numbers(32 is 23 reversed).vladimir nabokov s name anagram includes the results:
A BALK VIVID MORON
A BAR VIVID MONK LO
BARMAN VIVID LOOK
and

BOAR VIVA MOLD INK(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

3.theres a buddha upside down on that widmore painting
4.same painting was at claires house
5.view from widmores window was familiar(maybe same as previous charlie epis)
6.on the jukebox in the pub,we encountered the logo VENUS.(Greeks use the name Aphrodite) who was the Greek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_mythology) goddess (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goddess) of love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love), lust (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lust), beauty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty), and sexuality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sexuality). Her Roman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_mythology) equivalent is the goddess Venus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_%28mythology%29). Myrtle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrtle), dove (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dove), sparrow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparrow), and swan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan) are sacred to her.!!!no wonder this episode tells a great story of everlasting uneasy love!
we can also connect venus to apollo...
7.des' ring resembled sun's one
8.by the pub entrance i could make out a hydra logo reminiscent sign.
9.hands of big ben seemed stuck on number 4,even after des and pens' argument and split.it seemed like it d be stuck forever.
ill post screencaps if you like
correct me if im wrong

Namaste we know means "not to me, but to you (I bow)" Reverse the meaning and we have the attitude of Mr. Widmore toward Desmond

the picture in Widmore's office with the bear and statue:

First, the statue of Buddah (?? I'm guessing) reminded me of the statue that's seen in the flashes that Karl/Carl is watching AND of the one that showed up in the LE this summer on the Jeep advert... there was a buddah/statue that you had to click in the Jeep advert to get somewhere...

Second, the NAMASTE being backward. The first thing that hit me was it was reversed as if it were written to be seen from the outside, as you would write adverts or greetings on a store window. I keep having this "on the other side of the looking glass" feeling when I see it.

Lastly, the bits of corrugated tin on the picture... do they represent metal from the blown/imploded hatch?
