Random thought:
In the first episode(s) of Season 1, Charlie had the white tape on his fingers.

One hand said "F A T E", but cannot remember what (or if) the other hand said something else . . ..

Interesting in light of this weeks episode!

Thoughts?

I think he had changed it from "LATE" to "FATE" or vice versa.

Clearly fate plays into the entire theme of the show, so I think that was just another example of that.

He may have changed it from FATE to LATE, but I definitely remember it saying LATE

It will be interesting to see if the writers tie this in with what we know know about Charlie's "fate."

Yeah.
At first he had FATE written on his hand. Then he changed it to LATE.
If that has something to do with what's happening at the moment, FATE could mean that he's meant to die on the island and LATE could mean that his death will not happen when it's supposed to - because Desmond prevents it.
I dunno.
I personally hope that something happens to stop him from dying. Charlie's my favourite.

I thought he wrote FATE because he survived a horrific plane crash, and then LATE (he changed it in episode 3) when the rescue boats didn't show. He had those tapes on his fingers until Ethan kidnapped him and Claire and he used them to leave a trail.

Those were probably the reasons that he wrote what he wrote at the time, but it could be a sign as to what will happen to him.
I really don't know - just a theory.

Charlie also has the FATE tapes his fingers in the dream where Aaron is trapped inside his piano.

Yes I definately think that Charlie wrote F A T E after the plane crash because he thought the he was meant to survive or something along those line. He later wrote
L A T E in "Tabula Rasa" because the rescue boats didn't show. I really hope that TPTB tie this into the current storyline of Charlies "late fate of him dying."
