All of this talk of fate and "Final Destination" reminds me of what Locke said after Mr. Eko died: "He said we're next." So, does something--smokey, fate, the island, Locke's brother--have a deadly plan for each of them?

BTW, is it significant that the 2 new characters were absent from the "Let's Break Mr. Eko's Death" scene?

I don't think that has been resolved yet. I believe Eko told Locke "YOU'RE next", which could mean Locke himself or, as Locke took it to mean, the collective group.

Yeah....where are Nikki and Paulo hiding anyway....

Echo did say "You're next" but Locke chose to interpret it outloud to "We're next"...this was confirmed by the producers after but I don't remember where I read that now (sorry!).

When listening to the audio Eko said "they're coming next for you", which is basically the same as you're next (what TPTB said in a podcast) I think the 'you' is ambiguous and could mean Locke directly or the all of the Losties

So now its like a few hours later and they are not to be seen. SO what the heck happend to them. They are not at the beach before or after Desmond saves Clarie/Charlie so where are they??? Did the Monster get them :undecide:

Yeah it does seem like it's a few hours later, but Desmonds says that the burial was yesterday so a day passes before they tell Charlie and Hurley. Paulo is probably back to practising his golf swing!

It would be nice if they died instead of the Losties that we have come to love, but for Nikki she said that she wanted to be involved and stuff and now the next day comes and we dont even see them at all, come on thats kinda odd dont you think that they would have at least said something about the two

My take on it now is that Smokie may have created this 'relive-your-past' hallucination for Desmond as a test. And I also believe that it did the same to Locke and Ecko. What for? To see if they would make the same mistakes again. That's how Smokie judges people. Perhaps in his test, Ecko killed that guy to save Yemi again. To Smokie, that's wrong. Therefore Ecko had to be killed. The 'we're next' line may actually mean 'you're next' like in Locke, you are next. In Locke's next encounter with Smokie, we are gonna learn if he passed or failed this test.

Maybe Niki and Paulo are already gone (from the show)
I thought I read somewhere that Niki has been cast in a different TV show...
