I was just lookind at screen shots. It could be her with age make up. Same color eyes, same facial structure. I guess the only way to be sure is to check the cast list. I swear they do this intentionally sometimes, just to keep us guessing. (In the case of 2 different actors.) The Others sherrifs name is Isabelle.

I want some of whatever you guys are taking! ;) I didn't get any resemblance at all, and am really surprise--stunned--that so many people see this. Methinks we're speculating too much and reaching a bit too far?

The jeweler, Ms Hawkings, is played by Fionnula Flanagan (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001217/), age 65 (I thought she was older...)

I thought Diana Scarwid was Louise Fletcher and got excited since she's so good at playing bad, but then I saw "Diana Scarwid" on the guest list and realized I was mistaken. Besides, Fletcher is probably a bit older than Scarwid. I thought Scarwid was appropriately creepy.

They do look somewhat similar, and people on this board were saying the same thing after last week's preview. And with Lost, you never really know who is who, anyway. I thought I saw my cousin from Buffalo in a season 2 episode. (JK. I have no cousins in Buffalo.)

Louise Fletcher is in her 70s now. She recently played a role in the move "The Last Sin Eater."

I would like to point out that Ms. Hawking is English, and Isabel isn't. I realize that once in a while everybody likes to joke around and do funny English accents, for example Naveen Andrews in the dvd bonus features, but I don't think this is the case here....

I think they intentionally cast actors who look similar for different roles - because we are so focused on the story, that we may not necessarily taking in all the features of the actors - it causes a lot of speculation.

that must be it. I really thought they were the same person.

The thing is they are not that similar! Maybe it's due to my profession (I have to remember the face and names of a few hundred people) that I can discern facial characteristics but these two would never be confused for twins.
