First, why would the Others tell the captive Tailies anything?

Second, the only Other who knew that Ana was dead was BEN, who was there when Mike killed her. I suspect Ben didn't bother telling anyone Mike killed two of his own people. Given how the Others feel about killing their own people, and all.

I am under the impression that Cindy is an Other...and not just a captive...so yes that seems odd to me that they wouldnt tell one of them what was going on with the survivors

They want to keep her focused on their life. They would have to get into WHY Ana died, and bringing up the whole Michael situation wouldn't really help them convert her to their group.

Bad news could conflict with their "utopian" society.

Cindy and those with her seemed very sedated and complacent. More than likely they have been brainwashed, and since we know that they were initially captives they don't really count as "Others." They're very low down the power scale, and it's not surprising that they aren't being kept up-to-date about what's going on with the Lostaways.

I agree. As for actual Others being informed- Karl seemed to know about the whole scheme- about the kids being in a better place than the Losties. How would he know how Kate and co lived, etc if he wasn't informed?

Ahhhh the utopian society is not so utopian anymore...They cant handle stress of new type of things happening to them///i.e. the plane crashing

There may be a core group of Others and some "new" Others. Karl may be in the middle which is why he needed to go through the indoctrination videos with the Elton John glasses to "re-learn" what it is to be an Other.
