Anyone else think it was odd when Karl told Sawyer and Kate that he and Alex made up their own constellation, Ursa Theodore - the Teddy Bear... and then a couple minutes later we see the little boy dragging the teddy bear?
Coincidence?

I think that was intentional. It made me think of the Other legs walking through the jungle, one carrying a teddy bear, though. I wouldn't have thought that was Zack because of the barefoot/tattered clothes, however. Now I wonder if it was.

I think that it is the Other's version of Ursa Minor or Ursa Major. They are actual constellations that mean big bear and little bear. It would make sense that they would see the stars the same way our ancestors did. The only thing is that they are in southern hemisphere. I live in NY and I see the Ursas very easily. Does anyone know if the Ursas are circumpolar? I took an Astronomy class years ago in college and think that they are. Circumpolar constellations are, if I remember correctly, formations that can be seen from both poles all year round. If I am completely wrong, sorry

The Ursa's (Major and Minor) are Cirucumpolar around the NORTH pole. Once you are south of the Equator, you can no longer see the Ursa's, most notably Minor.
The star Polaris (the North Star) that is basically centered on the North Pole is part of Ursa minor.
I am guessing that Alex and Karl have read about the Ursa's and when they look up into their own sky they saw a grouping of stars that they the Teddy Bear. Completely unrelated to the common Ursa's.
Note that the use of the word Ursa on the Island is not uncommon and that real Ursa's have been seen...

Teddy Bears = Cute, loving, innocent, childlike.
Lost innocence?

The teddy bear mention by Karl followed by showing the teddy bear was just a creative segue. However showing the teddy bear being held by the kid, as goddessblue observed, was meant to show us, without saying it, that the kids outside Jack's cage were the same kids that were walking through the jungle with the others and the same kids that went down with flight 815.

I was more interested in "What the hell is the Brady Bunch?"
Clearly Carl has spent his life on the island as well.
