But how did the kid know Jack was tatooed and run from him? This was right before Jack was beaten up by Achara's brother and his friends.

Word gets around. I mean, the brother and the friend knew.

But they pulled up his sleeve to see the tats.

The kid acted like he was waiting for Jack as usual, then took one look at him and bolted. Just seemed odd to me.

The kid was on the beach, as he always was, but I'm guessing he would have avoided Jack that morning if he could have.
Achara's brother pulled up Jack's sleeve simply to confirm for himself -- he'd already been told -- that the tattoo had been applied.

Because Eastern people have powers.... Strange powers. If you watch TV, you'd know that only westerners are not in touch with the inherent magic of the Earth and Stars and junk like easterners are.

one reason could be that from the kid's perspective, he could see Achara's brother and gang walking towards Jack from behind, not looking like the welcome wagon exactly, so he sensed trouble and took off.

that, mixed with the fact that word could have spread that Achara had done wrong by marking an outsider.

I think she told her brother and they had a meeting about Jack similar to the meeting they were having on Juliette.

Funny, when I read the title of this post I thought it was going to ask -- how did the young girl with Cindy know that Jack knew of Ana Lucia?

The kids are kidnapped WAY before AL makes it to the survivor camp. Yet if she knew they arrived there, then why didn't she know AL had been killed?

It's obvious that someone is editing what the rest knows, OTOH, Cindy was almost to camp at that point. Cindy could've filled them in up to that point.

When Jack first walked out of his hut/house thingy, before he got beat up, I thought
one of the thugs was talking to the kid...? He walked off, past Jack, Jack started to walk towards the kid and the kid went running. Jack turned around and there was half a dozen
goodfellas walking towards him. (I thought)
I assumed that the one talking to the soda kid was asking where Doctor Jack lived or if he had already been out.
