I know they're in the middle of an island, but it seemed like this episode in particular had specific and rather loud animal noises whenever they showed Jack in his cage. I specifically remember hearing a bear growl towards the beginning of the episode and some sort of bird towards the end. I think there were a few more in-between there....ANYWAY, my point is that it seemed very intentional to put them there because they were so loud. Did anyone else catch this? It brought to mind the strange bird that seemed to say "Hurley" as it was flying past back in S2 -- I wonder if these animals were "saying" something?

I noticed this too. Particularly when Tom is talking to Jack in the cage. He's about to say something, there's some weird noise off in the distance and he pauses and flinches. Gotta be some significance.

There was also what sounded like kid noises around the time Jack said "together" when he was aloe-ing Jules.

I noticed them too...like they had the ambient noises turned up on accident.

Hmmm...I'll have to go back and watch it again...I saw this episode at a friend's house...and the reception was awful. I'm very interested to find out what is going on here!

I noticed it too. The ch-ch-ch-cha sound when Isabel approached his cage, and the *raised volume* of the animal sounds.

I also heard the kid/baby noises after Jack says "together".

yeah ,i heard it too,but it doesnt seem like baby noises to me.birds chirping maybe..
