If we assume the writers still have any basis in reality, the fact that there was no moon implies that it is either December 11th or 12th of 2004. This makes 81 or 82 days on the island. Just thought it should be said.

FishBiscuit 02-22-2007, 11:57 AM Good research, klalkis. So where does this place Juliet's arrival? 100% I don't remember...did we see the entire sky? Maybe it was behind them? Carl said "No moon tonight" when he was talking about the constellations. olympia325 02-22-2007, 12:05 PM I find this timeline to be fairly accurate. However, they haven't updated it since "I Do" so I guess you can do your own calculations since then.. http://lost.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline Fickle Fascination 02-22-2007, 12:17 PM I find this timeline to be fairly accurate. However, they haven't updated it since "I Do" so I guess you can do your own calculations since then.. http://lost.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline The episode took place over one and a half days, and according to http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Timeline:December_2004 this was day 73 to day 74, which would make the night they make camp with Karl Friday, December 3, 2004. aWishResigned 02-22-2007, 12:37 PM Have there been any discussions of star charts? I'm not the best at this but I'm sure that if someone were to take a cap of that scene and compare it with star charts, they might just find a general area where they saw those particular stars. Either that or a particular time that those particular stars were in that particular position as seen from the South Pacific. Another way to look at it, they may prove that those constellations do not exist from any point on Earth. That would open up a whole new can of worms, wouldn't it? :D FishBiscuit 02-22-2007, 12:43 PM Have there been any discussions of star charts? It seemed like they were cgi to me. Add that to the fact that the stars were on way too long to cover the two miles between Carl and Alex, and it's at the very least suspicious. shanzy288 02-22-2007, 03:29 PM this may seem like a blonde question - but when he says there's no moon in the sky, does that cover the whole sky or just that region? Like in an eclipse - is the eclipse seen from everywhere at one time or another throughout the day/night around the world? So, what I'm trying to say is around the world, would everyone not see a moon or just where they are? Hope I'm making sense. caforrest2047 02-22-2007, 03:33 PM how did karl know there wasn't going to be a moon? SCgirl 02-22-2007, 03:33 PM I believe when Karl was talking about the stars is when he stated that there was to be no moon that night illusions 02-22-2007, 03:49 PM Speaking of constellations, usa major was mentioned in this episode, which would place the crash site somewhere in the northern hemisphere. Based on the flight taking off from Australia I would suspect that the plane crashed somewhere in the Malay Archipelago. There are over 20,000 islands, with tropical climates. caforrest2047 02-22-2007, 04:05 PM ursa major wasn't mentioned. ursa theodoris was, a constellation karl and alex made up C_Lost 02-22-2007, 04:34 PM The episode took place over one and a half days, and according to http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Timeline:December_2004 this was day 73 to day 74, which would make the night they make camp with Karl Friday, December 3, 2004. Friday December 3, 2004 was just before the last quarter (Dec 4 2004) so on Dec 3 there would have been a moon in the sky. The New Moon was on December 11 2004. So it could have been Dec 11 or a day or two either side of it that a moon would not have been visible. |
