So if Danielle has been there for 9 years (I think that's what she said but I could be wrong) & her daughter was taken by the others, why on earth hasn't she found the others village? If my child was stolen I would have NEVER stopped looking for my child or given up hope & every day I would be out searching.

Yes, it seems pretty silly. Although does it have something to do with the "dark" area Danielle seems afraid of (or maybe smokey)? It has been a while since I rewatched seasons 1 and 2 so I could be forgetting something. But I agree, no amount of paranoia and fear on Danielle's part seem powerful enough to keep her from finding Alex for a whole 16 years on an island with nothing else to do.

Michael didn't find Walt, he headed vaguely north for a while and got captured by the Others. They wanted to find him and they did, which is why they had that fake yurtsville place built. That was a deliberate ploy to mislead the lostees and took quite a bit of effort for how short a time they actually used it, who's to say they don't have something bigger, better, capable of deceit for 16 years, in place that has kept Danielle from finding them?

You would think that with all of the exploring, hunting, searching for people etc. on the island, they would have come across the whole little TOWN they live in!

Is it something to do with the "security system"?

Rousseau did say that it was protecting something - Otherville, perhaps?

I think it also has to do with the Line that Tom/Zeke talked about maybe the line was the perimeter of comfort the Others have staked and they have also relayed to Resau not to cross it.

Do we know for sure that Danielle _hasn't_ found the Other village? I recall the episode where she tried to deliver Aaron to them [on the coast] in hopes of getting Alex. She was smart enough to change the signal to her own looping message. BTW it's been 16 years. ;)
