I dont care for the episode right now, however, I think that this episode will be looked back on as informative, although not immediately entertaining. What I mean is that I think we have received some crucial insight into the other society on our archipalego(thats my new name for the island(s)) of fun. This, I think, is the beginning of a more detailed story about othersville, and TPTB were just whetting our appetite. For example, what happened with Alex that she wants her Dad(Benry) dead? Eye for an eye is pretty barbaric, but at least they have a values system and one for punishing poor behavior. Also, how do they give the kids a better life? Where do they really live? These are all just examples of how TPTB maybe shifting focus not away from our survivors, but incorporating a more specific storyline for the others.

The important thing to draw from them having some sort of justice system in place is the implication that they are functionally autonomous. You could draw a number of meanings from that if you wish, but on a daily basis, nobody from the outside is calling the shots it would seem. Or, at least, they aren't now.

I like the positive outlook. We have to trust that the writers know what they are doing and that everything is being given to us for a reason.
It's just...really...hard...after that episode...

I can buy that actually. This one will creep up on us, eh? The 'eye for an eye' justice system was quite interesting.

I wasn't very fond of the episode either, but I do like that it showed that the others have some sort of structure and it's not all chaos.

Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of the history of the Others and the projects that have taken place on the island. I'm more concerned with getting those answers than I am with "what did they do to Walt".

I would assume that is whats going on. For the record, Im with you on being more interested in the others' history than what happened to Walt. I do think that TPTB will reveal what happened to Walt eventually, but through another child character that went through the same experience. So I assume some kind of indirect reference that allows the audience to put two and two together.

I agree that a flash back episode for Walt should be brought to light. Soon for that matter cause the boy is growing up fast...

Oh yea, and what happens when the kids(Cindy and Whats-His-Bucket) find out that Ana Lucia died because the people holding them killed her?
