I was with Sawyer in that the guy in the van was named Roger, yet his last name wasn't Workman, but rather he was a Work Man. What do you all think of this? Dharma janitor on a beer run?

What do you all think of this? Dharma janitor on a beer run? gusthepolarbear 03-01-2007, 12:07 AM something like that but I liked it more because i spotted a roger the rabbit reference because he had the rabbit foot keychain babygotbackgammon 03-01-2007, 12:11 AM I swear the name "Roger Workman" sounds familiar, like he's an organist from a late 70s prog band or something. The googling thusfar is not exactly shedding any light on this flash before my eyes. ame en peine 03-01-2007, 12:12 AM I find it strange that it said: Work. Man. Is it a truly generic label for workers? Would a woman cook be Woman Cook? This is how names were in olden times - they were literal labels of what the person did for a living or of his life... John's son = Johnson xzeox 03-01-2007, 12:13 AM I found it kind of odd how they were very light-hearted about the dead body, when all other times they have shown skeletons of that sort it has always been dramatic and supposed to be disgusting. Are you thinking of that crazy Rick Wakeman from Yes? gusthepolarbear 03-01-2007, 12:17 AM Are you thinking of that crazy Rick Wakeman from Yes? yes, yes! with the crazy figure skating show good call South Shore 03-01-2007, 12:23 AM I find it strange that it said: Work. Man. Is it a truly generic label for workers? Would a woman cook be Woman Cook? This is how names were in olden times - they were literal labels of what the person did for a living or of his life... John's son = Johnson The gendered implications are interesting actually. If this was original Dharma (which may be safe, with the VW van with the 8 track), I'm not sure there would be a feminist consciousness to the janitor jumpsuit nametags at that time. I still wonder about the existence of an egalitarian hierarchy to Dharma though. 100% yes, yes! with the crazy figure skating show good call I forgot that Rick Wakeman took his prog rock insanity on ice! That's freaking awesome. mrain01 03-01-2007, 12:24 AM Anyone think Roger was a comtemporary of Adam and Eve? Steve L 03-01-2007, 12:26 AM I found it kind of odd how they were very light-hearted about the dead body, when all other times they have shown skeletons of that sort it has always been dramatic and supposed to be disgusting. It was to keep up with the general light hearted theme of the show, I think it worked. Gobi-1 03-01-2007, 12:30 AM Well they've seen so many dead bodies by now they've gotten use to it. Cardielost 03-01-2007, 12:36 AM I wonder what happened to Roger. Did he wreck the van and die in the crash? (Call Craphole Island CSI.) I feel bad if he was simply trapped in there and no one came looking. Cardie LOST Granny 03-01-2007, 01:23 AM Anyone think Roger was a comtemporary of Adam and Eve? Yes, definitely. They were in about the same state of decomposition, which is interesting of itself. They were all almost mummified. After a while I would think there would be just bone and clothes left, but these folks were more together, if you know what I mean... ame en peine 03-01-2007, 01:28 AM The gendered implications are interesting actually. I still wonder about the existence of an egalitarian hierarchy to Dharma though. That's an interesting point... If it were a society where all were equal, then there really shouldn't even be a reference to gender, Think about it.. Everything they have is generic, from the food labels on down.. So why seperate the genders, and why state the obvious? Of course Roger is a Man. I find it pretty intriguing.. imaaronsmom 03-01-2007, 01:54 AM I wonder what happened to Roger. Did he wreck the van and die in the crash? (Call Craphole Island CSI.) Speaking of keeping with the lightheartedness of the episode. Craphole Island CSI.,.Great! Dolphinjen 03-01-2007, 02:07 AM Speaking of keeping with the lightheartedness of the episode. Craphole Island CSI.,.Great! Speaking of, does anyone know how long it would take for someone to be in that stage of decomposition? I mean after a while a corpse becomes a complete skeleton, right? They only stay in a mummified state if they're preserved in some way. Just wonderin'. Lost_in_CA 03-01-2007, 02:59 AM I find it strange that it said: Work. Man. John's son = Johnson I found this interesting, as well. The Others appear to have a very black and white view of things, almost childlike. Remember when Jack asked Tom why Juliet was in his old cell and Tom said because she's in trouble? That struck me as very simplistic yet literal. Were there any open and empty beer cans? Maybe Roger was the designated driver. ;) BrandonHasTheKeys 03-01-2007, 04:00 AM Roger Work Man = MARK ROGER NOW Coming on the heels of an episode where "marking" was a major theme, I wonder if this anagram means anything... goddessblue 03-01-2007, 04:15 AM All I know is I cracked up when Sawyer jumped upon seeing the skull and Hurley was like, "That's just....Roger. Roger Workman." And then Sawyer said, "That's his job, not his name!" (going from memory) I took it as more comedy to a funny episode. Flotsam 03-01-2007, 08:36 AM My oh my! I ain't a-gonna TRY to list all the anagrams possible for "Roger Work Man". Go type it in for yourself at... http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/ "WORK OR ENGRAM"? "NO GROW MARKER"? I didn't even bother to READ all the possibilities. Maybe someone will. littlecub237 03-01-2007, 08:39 AM Wouldn't it be neat to see him alive in a Ben flashback?? Maybe he leaves to get beer and never returns. |
