View Full Version : "Victory or Death" - Was it a victory for either one?
jennylee27 03-01-2007, 12:04 AM Lots of great Charlie/Hurley moments this episode. Their great duo is back!
I am certain we are supposed to be asking ourselves right now if the curse truly is broken. So what do you all think?
I, for one, think that they are wrong, and that despite Hurley's plan, death looms around the corner.
MinnieVanMommie 03-01-2007, 12:07 AM I think it is....and I have to say this...Living under the shadow of curse could be worse than living with the curse to begin with....If Hurley now beleives the curse is over...than he may just determine his own destiny based on his fate...
cylune 03-01-2007, 12:08 AM LOVED the Charlie/Hurley moments. :D But I agree, it's not over. :(
From what Hurley is saying, are we to believe that there is no curse in the numbers? That's that belief that made Hurley spin the van in time.
Hurley is going to be devastated when/if he learns that Charlie is still in danger.
pacejunkie 03-01-2007, 12:10 AM Of course it's not over. But we did learn that you make your own luck and you have to have hope. So their fate is still within their power to control, even though death always looms around the corner for anyone. I agree there's still trouble for Charlie, but at least for now, he's happy. Sitting around and moping about it isn't going to make things better.
jennylee27 03-01-2007, 12:16 AM Maybe they will choose to continue harnessing their own luck until they can definitively ensure that Charlie is going to live.
One can hope anyway!
pacejunkie 03-01-2007, 12:20 AM And Desmond wasn't being very helpful at all was he? Now he blames it on the alcohol and backs off? Charlie's right, he has a right to know some detail and after dropping a bombshell Des is all, sorry I was drunk, it doesn't work like that. Not bloody good enough, brother!
oceanic_lisa 03-01-2007, 12:23 AM I agree that seeing Charlie happy was so satisfying. It was kind of hard to remember how long it's been since we saw that devilish little grin he gave when jumping in to ride shotgun. :) Now, whether the curse is truly broken I can't be sure -- but the moping would have gotten old quickly, and I'm glad it didn't last long.

I don't believe there's a curse. I believe that Hurley encountered some unfortunate events. After about four of them he took it upon his shoulders and told himself there's a curse. (self-fulfilling prophecy)
But the real curse is that Hurley is blaming himself for events over which he had no control. That's the black cloud in his life, which tonight's van ride appears to have ridden through.

Desmond. I half expected to see him come flying out of the trees in a vain attempt to stop the van. :D
I don't know about the curse or the death prophecy but I think both of them learned that you can't live your life worrying about what 'might' happen. Ask any cancer survivor who has to have six month check-ups. You can't waste your precious time in between Dr. visits worrying if your cancer will come back. You get on with life....that's what the two of them learned.

True true.
Of course, death will of course then sneak up when they aren't looking.
But super Desmond will save the day! ;)
adam8023 03-01-2007, 12:35 AM Poor Tricia Tanaka!:rip: I was starting to have a crush on her until I realized that I heard a meteor coming.
Anyway, I think Victory and Death are even now.
care_n_jim 03-01-2007, 12:36 AM I think Hurley just showed Charlie to live for the day and love life - he gave him his life back - although it could be over at any minute - he still has life now - I think that is what they were trying to say for tonight
