View Full Version : Vincent and the Skeletal Arm
South Shore 03-01-2007, 12:07 AM What body part is it that Vincent once brought from the jungle? I can't seem to remember, but the scene is familiar.
Good to see the old dog back, and it wasn't raining!
Clochard 03-01-2007, 12:11 AM Roger's arm.
South Shore 03-01-2007, 12:14 AM No sorry, I mean a previous episode, Vincent brought something foul from the jungle.
ortiz34 03-01-2007, 12:27 AM um, didnt TPTB say vincent was also on walts getaway boat?
Amber 03-01-2007, 12:55 AM um, didnt TPTB say vincent was also on walts getaway boat?
Yeah...... that's what I thought too.. I guess they changed their minds huh?
dtdionne 03-01-2007, 12:58 AM Didnt walt give Vincent to Shannon?
Lockerox 03-01-2007, 01:01 AM We saw the preview of Vincent bringing Roger's arm way back over the summer I think. I know that's where I saw it before.
BrandonHasTheKeys 03-01-2007, 04:26 AM Are you thinking of Vincent bringing the virgin Mary statue to Charlie?
South Shore 03-01-2007, 09:05 AM I do remember Vincent with the Virgin Mary statue. Perhaps that's what I'm thinking, but maybe Lockerox is right, and I saw Vincent with a spare body part running from the jungle in a preview.
I'm trying to remember Vincent's journey. He wasn't with Walt and Michael, and after Shannon died, wasn't Ana Lucia looking after him?
Glad to see that fat old lab back, but he does seem to induce chaos and symbolize danger at times.
Coop1701® 03-01-2007, 09:14 AM Yeah...... that's what I thought too.. I guess they changed their minds huh?
No,.. this was talked about a lot in the DVD section of the Lage. Some extra footage was on the DVD which showed Vincent on the boat. However the TPTB, filmed this scene both ways and decided to go with the one were Vincent was not on the boat. That's why in Live together, Die alone, he was not seen on the boat as it was leaving.
desmondslosthairstraighteners 03-01-2007, 09:20 AM Or maybe it isn't actually Vincent, or maybe Vincent was the monster all along...
C'mon he brings Virgin mary statues filled with heroine to drug addicts, and brings keys and stuff for people looking for signs on what to do. Maybe it's just a plot device or maybe the monster wanted Hurley to get that car working, get that map, follow it in the car. Or maybe it was the monster's device for getting Charlie killed, in that car crash, but it didn't work or something - because Hurley had hope, and broke the curse? Hell that Desmond episode opened up so many avenues i could go down pretty much loads of them.
ortiz34 03-01-2007, 10:32 AM or maybe vincent was a hallucination...
razzie33 03-01-2007, 10:40 AM I still think something is up with Vincent - like he is a "see-er" now or something for either the monster or the Others -
Most other times he comes back it's raining and something ALWAYS happens:
Shannon sees Walt
Sun and her attacker
the whispers
he brings Charlie the statue
He is like an "instigator" -
where does he go off to all the time?
abbybaby 03-01-2007, 10:51 AM I'd love to know where that Dog "goes off to all the time"!!! I'd still love to see a Vincent flashback! Since Shannon died (she was the last one seen with his collar and leash) and Micheal and Walt gone it seems like that dogs been free to rome the Jungle of mystery at his liesure! Who know what that Dog has seen out there.
StayinLost 03-01-2007, 12:11 PM Did anyone else find it rather hillarious that the key Hurley was chasing after would have a 'lucky' rabbit's foot on it?? :D And if Roger was possibly driving at the time of his.... demise, why would his arm be holding the keys anyway?
piscescat 03-01-2007, 12:23 PM Perhaps the van had stalled and Roger was trying to restart it.
I was thinking Vincent was on the boat too, but then I remembered that he didn't follow Michael to the pier and he wasn't taken with Walt so he had to be on the beach or in the jungle. I like how Vincent appears and somehow makes people deal with an aspect of themselves, their pasts, etc.
I also would love a Vincent-centric episode, especially if his travels would reveal island secrets from his dogs' eye view. What would the smoke monster see in Vincent's past?

I'm taking a break from lurking to theorize on why this scene may have seemed familiar. In the movie "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase there is a scene with a yellow Labrador Retriever carrying a skeletal arm in its mouth.

And, right after Hurley says to Charlie: "Death finds me, dude," out trots Vincent with a dessicated human arm in his mouth! Good stuff!
DarkTeach 03-04-2007, 03:52 PM The errors in the whole "arm chase" scene are tragic... first Vincent runs out with the hand in his mouth, arm dangling down... cut to Hurley and Charlie.. .back to Vincent, he's now got the skeletal arm in his mouth, with the hand standing straight out (hmmm... just moments ago it was dangling at the wrist!)... then, if you stop and look... bare arm with key... continue on to scene where Vincent drops the arm, Hurley bends to pick up the key... there's a shirt sleeve now on the arm that wasn't there in the beginning... LOL.

LOL I never ever noticed this and I just watched it again to see if you were right, I was giggling with disbelief.

Immediately noticing these errors felt pretty annoying to me ...
littlecub237 03-05-2007, 08:47 AM I've got to agree w/ the Vincent-Smoky theory from page 2. I would not be surprised to see them find dog bones next season. The smoke monster can take form of other beings.
