View Full Version : Hurley and Charlie-still a fun pair
pacejunkie 03-01-2007, 12:31 AM How much did you miss the team of Hurley and Charlie? This brought back the good old days of them messing around on the golf course and tromping through the jungle in Numbers. What an awesome pair of buddies they are. They bring out the best in each other and it was sweet to see what Hurley was willing to do to lift Charlie's spirits. He's a great pal. I love them together, I'm glad they're friends again.
gusthepolarbear 03-01-2007, 12:36 AM best tag team ever
they made me love lost in the first place
cylune 03-01-2007, 12:40 AM I love Hurley. The things he can do for his friends are just great. A wonderful person and character. Hope we're not seeing the last of the Charlie/Hurley team. (and Jin/Sawyer... how cool was that?)
RodimusBen 03-01-2007, 12:40 AM This episode made me care about Charlie again. Imagine the pathetic junkie from the first few episodes and see how he's progressed-- he's a man willing to look death in the eye and hold his head up.
HarmHunny 03-01-2007, 12:42 AM i agree!! they've done a good job making charlie so annoyingly jealous when he's around claire- tonight, he was very likable again, which made me happy!! i don't like being annoyed by charlie, especially when i loved him so much the first 2 seasons!
you can see the chemistry between dominic and jorge, it's obvious they are good friends outside the show, they play off each other so well!!

Especially right before they took off in the van, the look they gave each other. They're true buds. I love seeing them together too. I hope we get more of that.
pacejunkie 03-01-2007, 12:56 AM Did you notice Charlie lean over at the end of the van ride and give Hurley that hug? He was so clearly grateful for Hurley getting him out of his funk. Awesome.
lostgurl 03-01-2007, 12:57 AM Hurley and Charlie are so good together. I'm glad that Hurley gave Charlie a smack, he needed to get out of his funk. Maybe they will give each other enough 'hope' to break both of their curses, I HOPE!
Amber 03-01-2007, 01:00 AM I really liked the part when Hurley slapped the gloom out of Charlie hehe. And it was so nice to see the four guys having fun together in that van.. aww
I'll be honest, I haven't really been a big Charlie fan the past two seasons. I mean I thought he was a cool character at times, but other times didn't really care either way. The past two or three episodes I've really started to grow fond of the 'ol Brit! I think I am officially a Charlie fan! :D
lostfan4ever 03-01-2007, 02:56 AM Hurley and Charlie are a great buddy team, and they really should be given more screen time together. This was a fun episode.
Captain_Falafel 03-01-2007, 07:06 AM  Give it the old Hurley/Charlie magic.
I love their buddy relationship. And after weeks of watching the sexy action heroes steal all the glory, it was refreshing to see two oridinary non-hunky guys have this little victory for themselves. Much more satisfying for me. Hurley was such a good friend to Charlie and Charlie repaid him and showed a lot of guts by hopping him into that van with him.
I really want things to work out for both these guys...
RodimusBen 03-01-2007, 07:38 AM I'm glad that Hurley gave Charlie a smack:rotflmao2:
Ironic in all sorts of ways...
Colonel Sanders 03-01-2007, 07:43 AM The slap to the face was a pivotal moment....it did more than just wake Charlie up and get him to snap to. It also felt like a slap to the past few episodes. It broke the "funk" that season 3 felt like it was in.....
It is good indeed to get Charlie & Hurley back together.... :)
lostlocke 03-01-2007, 08:52 AM Sure is good to see them together. Hurley helped Charlie out immensely in this episode I believe. He gave him hope that possibly you can make your own destiny. After Charlie's death sentence from Desmond, I think Charlie needed a pick me up!!
He defied death. I think the whole scene was great. I always love the pairing of Charlie and Hurley.

It's amazing how true that is. I really feel like this episode was a huge metaphor for the season. It was Hurley saving the day not only for his friends but for us. We were all in a depressed funk over this season and he slapped us out of it by doing what he does best. He told us to just stop worrying so much and just kick back and enjoy the show. I know not every episode can be this funny and light, but I hope the ensemble scenes continue. No more episodes featuring no more than three main characters. Please!!
Dezdmona 03-01-2007, 07:42 PM What is the quote that Charlie said just before he and Hurley went down the hill?
I think it's important to Charlie letting go of the "death" that had been hanging over him.
He stopped feeling sorry for himself after Hurley slapped him, but it was at that moment that he let go of his fear and chose life.

"Victory or death"

I hope he continues to keep his spirits up even if he should learn that Desmond's flashes haven't stopped. I get the feeling this is far from over. :frown:

I think it is far from over too:sob: . Hopefully, Charlie won't have to die. If he does have to die, at least he has Hurley's friendship to get him there. They bring out the best in each other and it was awesome to see the terrific twosome back in the saddle again.
Have to say that Sawyer and Jin are pretty funny together as well. I think that they have a genuine affection for each other. Taken as a foursome, they play well together and make each other laugh. It would be great to see more action with the fearsome foursome.
Don't comment on my obvious corniness please, I am already aware of it
Captain_Falafel 03-02-2007, 07:27 PM Can we have Hurley, Charlie, Jin and Sawyer as the new A-Team? They are more of a fun bunch than Jack, Kate, Locke, etc. And they've got a van!
pacejunkie 03-02-2007, 09:24 PM So Cap, do you now prefer the Fantastic Four of TTID over the Goonies of Numbers?

Ooo...tough choice because the Goonies do come with Sayid.;) But I think for pure comedy and entertainment the Hippy Van Foursome are the best combo.
