Throughout the entire viewing of tonights episode. My mom kept swearing up and down that Kate looked different. She says it was the same actress, but something was different. Maybe somthing with her teeth.

I didn't notice a difference, but I figured i'd post this on her behalf.

she looked the same to me - she was on GMA yesterday and looked exactly the same - I am convinced she is an OTHER but she still looked the same to me!

I noticed a difference around the time she tried to make up with Sawyer. I thought her face was changed, fuller maybe, but later I got to thinking it was due to her "dirty" appearance.

She was really tan. Everybody was. Guess they finally ran out of sun screen.

Well, she seems to be wearing a lot less make-up these days (if you re-watch season 1 she always seemed to have mascara and a little bit of blush on), but other then that I thought that she looked the same.

I think she's just dirty from the long journey, her hair is a mess and she's not wearing any makeup. I think her freckles stand out more than before. :biggrin:

I think that it's more likely that, even though supposedly she never wore makeup before they were captured, she actually did always have a tiny bit of makeup on - some mascara for sure and probably a bit of other stuff - and since they were captured she hasn't been wearing ANY. Nothing on her eyes at all. It definitely gives her a different look. That could be what's throwing her off.

I thought she looked gorgeous as always. I never noticed her teeth before...I'll have to look. Her hair got pretty long in three months, huh?

Evangeline Lilly has always said that she does her own makeup and the only thing she does is put on some bronzer and then the dirt makeup. That's it.

Yeah we all like to say things like that. We all like to pretend that we are natural beauties. Nobody ever admits to wearing padded bras either. But either she used to wear mascara and now she doesn't or she has just recently started bleaching her eyelashes, because they used to be dark and prominate and now they aren't.

She is still beautiful. I don't think that anyone is denying that. But not being "perfect" actually makes her more attractive. It's the confidence factor.

I didn't really notice anything. She did look exhausted, and rightfully so. She just had a rough week or so on "Alcatraz."

i noticed right away tonight that she looked different, she looked different last week too... i think it's the tan/dirt on her face, but she looks very natural, i think it makes her look prettier, i like the change! it's realistic that she'd be this tan, she was in a cage outside for who knows how long- the fact that claire has bangs now, and how she and sun look impossibly perfect and fresh? kinda far fetched... i'm liking the fact that kate isn't taking the real approach

Oh one of thing that I noticed is that it looks like she has stopped plucking her eyebrows too. I am guessing that goes along with the natural look too. And I am not sasying that this is a bad thing, just that it is different.

And I totally agree about the Sun and Claire thing. Too many people on that island have smooth fluffy hair. Salt and Sand are hard on hair. They make it frizzy and dull. It is too unrealistic when people look so polished.

Totally agree on that one. She could wear not a trace of makeup and still look fantastic, yet natural.

Actually, it's funny that you mention it- I think she got caps or something recently. I noticed right around the eppy where she and Sawyer break outta the cages that her teeth had a noticible gap in them, so I checked through seasons 1 & 2 and it wasn't there before. Weird.

I think that she has mascara and blush on in Confidence Man. But that is the only episode where I have really studied her close ups. (I love all of those hot looks between her and Sawyer just before their kiss!!! ) But anyway, perhaps that interview that you read was more recent and she does do her own make-up now. Or perhaps she was referring to her regular regime and not what she does for the show. Who knows. But you are right about her being a beauty, with or without make up.

One thing I have noticed is that Kate looks different when Evangeline "acts" different, and there may be soft filters on Kate during those shots.

When Kate is flirting with Sawyer, Evangeline gets a very soft sexy look about her. Her eyes actually look different, but it's just that she is conveying interest and desire instead of anger.

We have not seen Kate look soft and sexy on the island until this season. When Kate is angry, she looks hard and determined...the Kate we are used to seeing.

I think she just picked up a little weight...which IMO is good...that a$$ of hers was looking might good last night!

She just looks dirty and tan, if different at all. When EL was on GMA yesterday she didn't look any different that she normally does. It has been mentioned a few times on this thread that it looked like she wasn't wearing any makeup. Well, in the entertainment industry music and the camera go hand-in-hand. Being on camera without eye makeup would make someone look washed out (same reason you hardly ever see anyone wearing white).

I also thought that Kate looked different last night, and I, too, focused on her mouth/teeth. Just looked different.

As for Dom's dental change, does anyone have a photo to back that up?

I think that she had less makeup on in this episode - not that she ever wears a lot. I thought that she looked pretty, as usual, too - even without makeup.

Ironically, I did think that Sun looked different. I thought that Sun's face looked rounder, like she had gained weight. I didn't know if TPTB wanted us to think that was because she's pregant or if I was imagining it.

She's one of those characters that I think is pretty sometimes, and other times I'm just like "well...."

Doesnt anyone think that she has some makeup left over from the crash and uses it when she it at the beach. Since she has been away for awhile, she didnt have access to the makeup?

This whole season she has been with the others, so she was away from her makeup stash. That is all. It looks like once she got back to the beach, she was able to change clothes and clean up a bit.

first of all...rude, much? it isn't like the actors switch out their teeth to play a character. so you were basically dissing Evi. secondly the private life of the VIPs is not fair game for discussion. she has never publically commented about her 'dating" life so it is off limits. thirdly reposting something that was removed b/c of rule breaking/bad taste/whatever is never a good idea as it can get you warned and/or points.

I don't think Kate or EL look any different. She is just as beautiful as she ever was. Her natural look, he ability to look amazing without makeup and that gap in her teeth all add up to perfect for me.

Not being mean, honestly, I love Kate....but Kate's teeth last night kept reminding me of a rabbit. Considering the many discussion regarding rabbits, Watership Down, etc... am wondering if this is on purpose. Kept thinking of Alice and Wonderland.

you really are pushing this, aren't you? the Rules have been revised within the past few months. you may want to look at them again. they are not that complicated. we do not allow private life discussions. we do not allow actor bashing. this includes things about their appearance. fine you don't like her teeth. however there is no need to further that thought by going on to describe them in detail by making rude comments.

i could say i don't like Vincent's nose but i am not going to go on to describe it as rudely as possible. all the while commenting that her breeding is questionable and her father was the mutt next door or that she is rumored to be dating someone like her father. all of that has no bearing on her nose.

seriously, just b/c a person is an actor doesnt make them fair game for rudeness that i would hope you wouldnt exhibit in real life to others around you. i don't know you but i hope that you are not this rude in person.
