Remember the car off in the distance in the scene where Anna confronts Goodwin. We all thought it was a production error. However, with evidence of an actual car on the Island along with a map of some type of road, who is to say it was not a very cleverly placed easter egg.

Do you have a screen cap from TO48D?
I don't remember that

i don't think that it was real Stuz1

here's a pic of the scene that the car was supposedly in....

and here's the picture people were talking about....

http://www.evankroberts.com/uploaded_images/snapshot200511171710043yu-703467.jpg

it's the same screencap, but in the first one, I don't see the supposed car in the background.
I think someone was just screwing around.

until i see a screen cap i'll think this is just a clever way to cover up an error.

exactly

if I remember correctly
it was just a hoax
and was never actually in the episode
but i could be recalling it incorrectly
although i definitely don't see it in the lost-media cap

There is a lot of random occasional stuff on the island that I think just builds the case that plenty of other people have been mysteriously drawn to the island. Another example would be tonight's dart, the Tonka truck, or the speakers standing up in the background in Every Man for Himself.

The car was a production error that I believe was removed from The Other 48 Days on the DVD sets.

Much like Desmond's picture of Penny with the other actress was changed on the DVD sets.

Not to mention...as Hurley so eloquently pointed out..."That dude died around Rocky III....maybe Rocky II"....

It's only been...what...a month since that conversation between Goodwin & Ana Lucia. There's no way that Roger could be THAT decomposed in that short of time....if, indeed, he did wreck right after a mysterious car showed up in The Other 48 Days. Not to mention all the foiliage growth snaking up into the engine compartment.

Also...I believe the car in question was only able to be seen on HDTV sets with wide screen....as the car appeared on the very outer edge of the frame. I saw a screencap of it right after TO48D aired....and was not visible to home viewers watching on standard TV sets. Not sure if it was digitally removed from the DVD or not....but it's obvious it wasn't Roger's "Love Bug".

Another example would be tonight's dart, the Tonka truck, or the speakers standing up in the background in Every Man for Himself.

The dart was a remnant of the Swan station that was blown into the jungle when Desmond turned the failsafe key. Take a close look at it, you'll see it's singed and deformed.

At that point, Kate and Sawyer had no way of knowing the hatch had exploded.

I seem to recall the Misfit posting a screencap with a school bus, lol. It was the Misfit though.

I definitely see that car!
It would make sense for them to have vehicles though..

I am not saying the car in the other 48 days was the same car as the one Roger was in. Just that the fact that Dharma has cars means it is possible one was driving in the distance behind Goodwin during hias little picnick with Anna.

It was a production error, dude. They went to the trouble and expense of digitally removing it from the scene for the DVD release. That pretty much makes it clear it wasn't a clue, right?

The car in "The Other 48 Days" was clearly there, and not "on the outer edge of the frame". It was in the center frame, and it made two "blinks" as it drove past clearings in the treets/bushes before it. It was not a hoax, as I recently checked back with the TV capture.

My DVD version is missing the car. It was digitally removed (as was the horse trainer's hand in "What Kate Did"), so it was definitely a production error.

It wasn't. It's obvious that the writers goofed up a little back then and decided to have fun with it and write it into the episode.

No. The taillies were WAY away from the Losties...they couldn't have seen the same van, as Hurley's van has been where it is for quite some time now.

Right, and the one in TO48D was clearly moving...

"Deleted" how? From people's recordings of the episode that already aired? From the screencaps posted on the web? Or what?

Nevermore, the first part of your quote - where you mention "blinks" - reminded me of something. which is probably not related at all... but it was a really interesting mind-tickle. at the abc 815 message-boards-related flash site ( put up at the end of season one) the main page had two sort-of easter egg/spoilers: the first was the beam of light that appears in the background, a clue/spoiler/reference to the hatch and the bright light that desmond shone up from the swan station into the night sky after the hatch door was dynamited open. the other was never really explained, nor did it connect to anything specific. i think most people assumed it had something to do with the "monster' (i know i did).

in the darkened forest, roughly parallel to the beach, two tiny yellow lights can be seen flickering through the foliage. they are very hard to see, but enough folks spotted them to generate a thread discussion, way back when. check it, you can see 'em, here -

http://www.oceanicflight815.com/index.html?b=1

they occur about 1/8 of the way from the bottom, in the left half of the screen.

ok so, yeah, the two lights could look like glowing eyes. but in perspective, they kinda-sorta look like headlights moving along a winding road! when i first saw them, i remember thinking of the "dragon" that scared people off from exploring the tropical island/lair-of-evil-mastermind in the first james bond film, dr.no. the dragon turned out to be a nothing more than a jeep, with flame-throwers.

admittedly, the lights seen in the flash image move far too fast to be headlights. but not if there is more than one car.

they look a little bit like sparse traffic, moving in two directions over rough track, obscured by curves of the road and forest.

like i said, it's probably not related. but i sure do love the idea that there's been a little clue percolating there for us all along, ever since the end of season one! it would give me a little hope that TPTB really do have a plan. ;)

yeah ,youre right..i can see the appearing to be tail lights, but also look like some kind of eyes of something menacing ,to me...or light bugs..but theyre prolly the lights of our VW 's as this site previously contained spoilers..
i think this was kind of brain frying dont you think?maybe if we look closer we find out gems..but yet again, arent we already??
