I think the props and editing people need to be more careful. Take a look at this:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/41161198@N00/?saved=1

When Vincent first appears, he's biting the arm on the palm of the hand, the arm hangs vertically and Roger's suit's sleeve can be seen.

When he stands in front of Hurley and Charlie, he's biting the arm horizontally and there's no clothing visible. The fingers are on Vincent's right side.

When he drops the arm in the jungle, the sleeve returns, and the fingers are now on Vincent's left hand side.

Details, details, details....

My mom laughed at this too. Look it's stiff, and now it's floppy!
I wonder if they are going to have to substitute skeletor arms for tennis balls now for Madison.

The only thing I can think of, is that it is all hallucination and subject to personal perception. I'm not so sure Vincent was actually even there physically.?.?

You are hilarious.

It was terribly sloppy. You can't blame the editors though because they can only work with the shots they're given. There should have been enough consistent shots in production to be edited together cleanly. I actually saw that scene in a Lost Moment and I assumed it was still rough and was going to be fixed before it aired. I was disappointed when I saw it exactly how it was before.

LOST fans are just about the most critically punishing fans i've ever witnessed. It was sloppy, case closed.

This was a pretty big editing flub. Continuity suffers when you're dealing with dogs. Not exactly post-worthy though.

Continuity is a bear when you are working with animals. :)

And why was the key on the dead guy's wrist to begin with?...If he crashed and died the key would have still been in the ignition, no?

Yeh that was an easy spot for the casual viewer but every tv show has scores of continuity issues. Every scene is shot over and over again from a variety of angles and then glued together. Lets face it, Lost will, by definition, have all kinds of timeline and continuity issues. I laughed a bit when I saw that but lets face it, its tv. Just sit back and keep up with the story. It wont be the last time continuity rears its ugly head on Lost or any other show or movie...

as for the key that actually is a good question. The key could have easily been left behind in the van for Hurley to discover. I dont know why they felt compelled to have Hurley chase a key on an arm when the story would have allowed for more sense if Hurley chased the arm TO the key. I think they wanted a prop that would make the veiwer stop and wonder, but in doing so they sacrificed a sense of reality. The key would not have been wrapped around the wrist. Still, these guys are making a lot of money doing this so they know what they are doing.

I think the key wasmeant to motivate Hurley, as the FB scene shown at the beginning had him trying to turn on the car with his dad right before his dad abandoned him.

On another note, how ugly was the wig Cheech was wearing in that scene?

good point. nice way to make a connection. It still would have worked any other way but the key is obviously iconic in the opening sequence. I still dont agree with the way it was done but I clearly understand why it was done like that. Good call

LOL yeah you need a bigger carrot on a stick than just a dead guy's arm to get Hurley to run into the jungle!

It is not easy to work with animals on a tv show or a movie. Considering how much it costs to make this series, I'll give them this one. If you want this scene, you get the dog to carry whatever it will.

Also, since FBYE, I'm willing to wait until all the pieces are presented before I call foul on anything that is shown to us.

I so agree. Animal scenes are tough. And we don't know for certain that Roger crashed and died. He could have been parked, having a cold one and enjoying the sunshine when "something" happened that over turned the car and killed him. The "incident"? Who knows? Maybe he had just turned off the ignition and his usual habit was to slip the key chain onto his wrist.

Is it an editing error? Or is it like in Flashes Before Your Eyes, when Des is talking to Penny's father and everytime they cut away and back the bar, the picutres and even Des's changes chairs. Are we seeing parallel universes? I might have thought the stiff/floppy arm was a mistake in editing but that sleeve would have always been there.
