OK, so I know it's just a TV show, however, if we look at everyone's flashbacks everything that we've seen until tonight has been possible in "real life." Not to say that an astroid couldn't come down and hit a fast food place, but there's really no record of one actually happening that I know of in my life, or anywhere in the "real" world so far. Doesn't that seem kinda weird? Everyone elses flashbacks seem like they could have actually happened.
Kate could have ran from the police.
Claire could have seen a psychic and almost gave up her baby
Sun could have cheated
Jack could have been a great back doc
Locke could have donated a kidney
and so on...
BUT..winning the lottery...YES...bad luck everywhere...POSSIBLY
a meterorite/astroid thing only hitting your chicken joint...NO NO NO WAY!
Was is a hallucination? Or did it really happen? And if it did, why hasn't he said,
"You think you're unlucky...OH YEAH well an astroid fell from the sky and almost killed me. Did you ever see that on the news?"

Just saying it does happen. We do not usually see buildings blown up, but everyday hundreds if not thousands of meteorites enter the atmosphere, most of them are burnt in the atmos while others hit the ocean, or uninhabited areas, but they do occasionally hit houses, cars, buildings, etc. Usually, they are small, and cause limited damage, but it is likely and inevitable that a slightly larger one will hit a building sooner or later. So, I do not think it is a hallucination, but the writers exaggerating a bit to make it evident, and humorous, how bad Hurleys luck really is.

Yes, I do know they fall and sometimes hit, BUT LIKE THAT?!? I don't think so. What I'm trying to say is that everyones flashbacks are pretty realistic except for last nights!

It was one of those major suspensions of disbelief...to me...with a metorite taveling that fast and causing that much damage..the shockwave alone would have killed Hurley and Randy...and destroyed a lot more than the building...

BOOOOOOOO.
This is how the show is going to end.
With all the fans being so nitpicky about every little tiny detail.

Hurley mentioned this in Man of Science, Man of Faith. Did people think he was lying?

And if this makes no sense, how do you explain how they survived a plane crash? The smoke monster? Desmond, Locke, and Eko surviving the hatch implosion? Jack meeting Desmond again? All of the other pre-island meetings?

Suspension of disbelief is crucial to watching Lost.

Actually, they do. In fact, just several weeks ago, one such metallic object crashed through the roof of house in NY (I live in NJ) and lodged in the wall of second story bathroom. Tore a huge hole in the house and the thing was only the size of a football. No one was hurt. It doesn't take much.

If there was a "problem" with last nights episode, it was that they depicted the meteroite to be too large. A smaller one could have easily caused a gas explosion destroying a building but not hurting Hurley, etc...

I can't make too big a deal of it.

Just a few more cents...

Following the opening lines of this thread... all of the other Losties have 'realistic', if a bit surreal, flashbacks. This considers that each of our characters have somewhat sureal lives and encoutners anyway.

We are given moments of WOW in most of the episodes, and recent ones have pushed those moments, Desmond's time-traveling and Juliet's ex hit by a bus for example.

But it does seem like all of Hurly's flashbacks are the most off the wall. Even for the Lostiverse.

Consider: While things that happen to him are not unrealistic, that they happen to one person is like a trippy Beatles song. (or maybe Geronimo Jackson)...

Sitting around the campfire the Losties share some stories:

Charlie- I was in the rock band Drive Shaft.
Hurly- I used numbers I got from an insane dude to win a Lotto. (BTW those same numbers are like everywhere....)
Jack- I saved my ex wives life.
Hurly- I won $170 million in that Lotto.
Locke- I can walk again!
Hurly- I was worth like $250 million at one time.
Kate- I am a fugitive from justice.
Hurly- I was responsible for the death(s) of people on a deck.
Des- Man I think I time traveled to the mid 90's!
Hurly- My chicken shack was hit by a meteor.

Anyway... Rock on True Believers! Rock On!
