View Full Version : Easter Egg or a Clue?
Justjared 03-01-2007, 02:20 PM I rewinded my DVR at least a dozen times so I am not imagining this.
The screen caps on lost media do not show it but I saw it.
When Hurley is a small boy and his dad leaves, the scene shows his mother coming to the window and then they show Hurley boy's face and then go back to the mother.
The first shot of the woman is none other than...

If you DVR'd it, watch it closely.
I swear... when I saw it I said no way so I went back and watched it again... and again... and again. IT IS the Jewelry store lady and after they show Hurley boy and cut back to the window, it's Hurley's mom.
My wife isn't even a hardcore fan and she saw it too.
The island is messing with the Losties' flashback memories. It has to be.

I watched it at least a dozen times last night. If you watch the window, just as the face emerges from the darkness and comes into focus, it's the jewelry store lady. Then it cuts to Hurley boy and back to the window. This time it's Hurley's mom.

I can see why you thought that was Fionnula Flanagan, from the expression on her face and especially because before the full face comes into view, it looks as if her hair is whie (but it's not.) The way you can reassure yourself that it is the same face all the time is to watch it several times, each time focusing only on a single feature--right eyebrow, left eyebrow, mouth, etc. If you do it that way, you will see that it is Hugo's mother all the time.
BillToons 03-01-2007, 02:46 PM I'll have to look tonight when i get home. I have it on HD DVR but havent watch a second time yet. I did however get that feeling in realtime that it was ring lady too.

Yes, I saw the white hair and it sured looked like the ring lady in real time and after watching it again. Maybe it's just lighting but even my wife noticed it and she's just a casual viewer. She actually asked me if that lady's face just changed.
Oh well...

It looks like the same actress to me. Could be that in the flashback she's just in really heavy makeup to conceal her age. At least that's what I noticed the most when I watched it. I don't think it's an Easter egg or any kind of clue.
On another note, did anybody notice the palm-tree-on-the-beach picture on the wall of Hugo's mom's house? (and if there's already a thread for this, I apologize for posting here) It looked like the same picture in the Doctor's office at the mental hospital. And that looked like an Easter egg to me.

I thought the actress looked different and definitely rewound it, but I don't believe you're correct.

It sure looked like her -just for a moment-. Then there is the whole Penny- Juliet- Jacks wife thing. I still say that is fully intentional. Especially after seeing Juliet and then going into Desmond's flashback with Penny. So similar an air about them.

Omgosh, I can't believe someone else thought that too! I actually thought the receptionist was the jewelry shop lady when she was a younger woman (since we're playing around with time jumps and all). I mean, how many young women have that platinum hair color and old-lady glasses??? They had the same face shape too.
I never posted it cause I figured I'd get slammed :tomato1: so thanks for putting it out there - now I don't feel so crazy! :biggrin:

Yes, it's fully intentional that there are three blonde women on the show who are all played by different actresses.

better yet the flashbacks are showing how the [island/DHARMA/hanso/widmore] has altered each persons path in life to lead them where they are now.
