View Full Version : Picture on the wall in Hurley's house
diabolo237 03-01-2007, 02:29 PM Could it be the island (http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage.php?album=1258&pos=404)?? Funny how pics like this keep popping up in flashbacks.. Look on the left side of the photo and blow it up, palm trees and all!;)
Heres (http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage.php?album=1258&pos=429) a better shot
BlackLotus 03-01-2007, 02:36 PM certainly looks like it !
BillToons 03-01-2007, 02:36 PM That's interesting, particularly the fact that it doesn't match anything in the room and stands out like a sore thumb. Everyhting in the room is very monotone then blammo a tropical glowing colorful backlit photo with a spotlight on it to boot.
The Great One 03-01-2007, 02:37 PM Looks like a flat screen tv...
diabolo237 03-01-2007, 02:38 PM Its definitely a picture, the second cap shows it better
Deez_Nutz16 03-01-2007, 02:51 PM I think its one of those pictures that reacts to the light.
I have a picture of a beach (not this picture, differnt setting) and it flows with the natural sunlight.
LIke at 5am when the sun is coming up, in the picture the sun is coming up. At night when the sun sets, theres a picture of a beautiful sun set in the picture.
It could just be one of those (they are very cool!)
it does look like the island but i doubt it. i reckon it is something like hawai, but it would be good if it was hawai because that is were there filming lost.
but if it was the island in the pic then the island is not very secret then is it
Buck Dharma 03-01-2007, 03:34 PM Oops, just found the right thread for this. I thought it was the same picture from the mental hospital. It reminded of the scene w/ Hurley in the psych doctor's office.
Guinevere 03-01-2007, 04:11 PM I think it's so interesting that Hurley has this picture on his wall that's so reminiscent of the island picture on the wall of the sanitarium. Maybe at that time in his life, the idea of a deserted island was sounding better and better.
diabolo237 03-01-2007, 04:18 PM Don't forget the pictures of the island on Mr. Paik's video monitors in In Translation
LadyJ27 03-01-2007, 09:41 PM Interesting... going back and re-watching the seasons, images/artwork of tropical islands appear frequently.
Hmm
Amber 03-01-2007, 10:48 PM Hmm good find! You're right Diablo about Mr. Paik's monitors. I wonder if they've been in any other flashbacks and we just haven't noticed.
modkittn 03-02-2007, 12:21 PM Have any of you ever played the flash game on ABC's LOST site? The picture on the flat screen in the house looks like it could have come from the game.
Sparkle&shine 03-02-2007, 02:09 PM I just thought that it was one of those cheesy light up pictures! They are all over the malls here. The ocean looks like it is moving when you turn it on.
Now I will have to go back to look at all the other references!

That's what I thought it was as well. Tho, I don't think they're cheesy!

Things like these are usually pure eastereggs and aren't tied in with the show.

Thanks, diabolo! Great catch...on first viewing, I thought it was "just" a TV on in the background.

I'm linking your thread in my Mr. Paik's screens (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?p=1410417#post1410417) thread.:)

How interesting! That would be pretty cool if Hurley had the LOST game.
Mr. Find 03-03-2007, 01:48 PM I like the six-sided lamps in the upper right hand corner of the first screenshot from the original post. The props dept probably didn't even intend it, and yet there again is Lost-irony. :)
Sam G 03-03-2007, 05:10 PM I think it is a flat screen monitor.
http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage.php?album=1258&pos=404 This cap is further away but it looks like you can see the electrical cord for it.
I don't know if it matters at all if it is a painting, or TV, it is the content. It is following the pattern of an island portrait being in incorporated into the episode.
The picture in Dr. Brooke's office

hawke 03-03-2007, 09:55 PM I remember downloading an official screensaver a while ago and the scene is that but with one of 815's engines spinning beside that exact palm tree. I am actually sure !!!
I could be totally wrong though....
