View Full Version : Rate the Episode!!! Karri 03-14-2007, 03:00 PM What did you think? Rate it and then discuss the good and the bad. :) potrefirto 03-14-2007, 10:01 PM I liked a lot! Jack is back! :75happy: I mean, UNCLE Jack is back... 9/10. xero 03-14-2007, 10:02 PM I gave it a 7. Flashback and island stuff were ok, nothing exciting, but the rescue mission was awesome. The CTV promo was the best part, I'm eager to see the ABC version now. caforrest2047 03-14-2007, 10:04 PM I gave it a 7. Flashback and island stuff were ok, nothing exciting, but the rescue mission was awesome. The CTV promo was the best part, I'm eager to see the ABC version now. I gave it 9 just because of the rescue mission nd promo dm 03-14-2007, 10:06 PM i gave it an 8. i thought the flashbacks were awesome...but i always love claire flashbacks. i thought the island stuff was pretty good. def better then some of the stuff we've seen recently. and i thought the rescue mission stuff was pretty good. and i loved the ending!! LunaSlave 03-14-2007, 10:12 PM i gave it a 9, because it tied some loose ends together nicely, the flashback served very well to give Claire greater depth as a character (great acting job by Emilie!), there was lots of enigmatic and cool Desmond stuff, and the ending was killer. not a 10 (i reserve that rating for the best of the best LOST eps - i'd put ones like Walkabout, Flashes Before Your Eyes and The 23rd Psalm in that category) EricGunn 03-14-2007, 10:19 PM I gave it a ten. Finally an eppy where we moved forward into the story, got some answers and got a fantastic promo for next week's eppy. (Although it felt weird seeing Jack doing what he was doing with the others...) I'll be watching again at 10 on ABC! Good job ppl! :clapping: Namaste, Eric. cylune 03-14-2007, 11:04 PM Gave it a 10... mainly for this quote: I'm not giving up on you Charlie. We'll get through this together. Squee. Loved the scene where they let go of the bird. So sweet and so PB&J. Rescue mission was great too. Seems like Locke knew what he was doing after all when he blew up the Flame station. Ending was great - loved the shocked look on Kate's face. Crazyfrench 03-14-2007, 11:53 PM I had to give it a six for a few reasons: 1. Nastypatchy is dead, I can't bear this :sob: 3. Locke is not the one I used to like. What the hell are the writers doing with his character ? 2. I don't like Claire, she gets on my nerves (sorry it's personnal) 3. The fact that she shares the same Dad as Jack is too much over the top (Come on, Lost is not a soap opera) But I can't wait to see next week's episode. Is it next wednesday yet ? :tongue1: Lunch 03-15-2007, 12:07 AM I gave it a 9 because I'll miss Patchy, but the rest was really good. The rescue mission was awesome, the ending was great, Jack/ Claire sibling thing was just as I thought and what a lot of others have theorized. I was a little bit disappointed because I read spoilers, but it was still very good. Punky 03-15-2007, 12:09 AM Completely flabbergasted by that ending! Awesome. Definitely a 10 for me. Ekosystem2112 03-15-2007, 12:11 AM Touchdown! Gave it a 9. Love that fence! johnnywishbone 03-15-2007, 12:11 AM I'm gonna have to give it a 6 i found the episode very bland.... not sure that is the word, but i'll go with it anyways. wasn't exactly shocked by the revelation of Christain being Claire's dad and the rescue mission was a little boring but the end was definitely intriguing i don't know.....it just didn't grab me  ame en peine 03-15-2007, 12:12 AM Great episode - gave it a solid 8... Locke's a baddy, Christian's Claire's Daddy, Jack's way too cozy over there in Otherville and why..... Excellent flashbacks - who knew Claire was goth... jennylee27 03-15-2007, 12:14 AM Gave it a 7. Claire stuff was sweet - I really like her character, but this didn't have the punch that Raised by Another and Maternity Leave did. Charlie's death by seagull hunting was a bit silly. Locke is annoying. But, I have faith this is leading him to an important storyline. Oh, and John Terry ROCKS. lostnthesoutheast 03-15-2007, 12:15 AM I gave it an 8. It was good, but not my favorite. No Hurley and barely any Sawyer. But it did make me like Claire and the whole Claire and Charlie ship a whole lot more. I loved the look on Kate's face at the end. Otherville looked a lot like a community college campus. There were a lot of people walking around with backpacks on. Jack sure seemed a lot more relaxed then he ever seemed at the beach. Maybe Karl had a point back in SISLabout "a better life". wedestroymyths 03-15-2007, 12:23 AM i gave it an 8 which is what a standard episode of LOST should be...there wasn't anything huge or earth shattering but it told 3 really strong, engaging stories, maintained an impressive balance between the stories, and progressed both character and mythology storylines... in fact, with all but 1 episode (imho) since the hiatus being a 7 and higher, I really think that LOSTS writing is back on top of it's game and next week looks like it's only going to get better... pacejunkie 03-15-2007, 12:24 AM I gave it a nine. I loved Claire's story. It made me cry. The final scene with her mum and the scene with Christian were great. I know he was a drunk and a filanderer but he always comes off as sympathetic. I felt bad for him anyway. Charlie and Claire, what can I say but squee. I'm glad Claire knows now about Desmond. They were sweet, it's been too long since we had some of that. I also loved Sayid and Locke. I can't wait to see where that goes. dtdionne 03-15-2007, 12:24 AM What's that sound?? AAAHHHHH, yes, that's the before lost sound of Lost hitting on all 8, ready to scourch some pavement. i gave it an eleven beause it's one more. Jack tossing the football with Tom....crazy, kookie, did i say crazy? Thank GOD they got past that rough patch where all of the footage was destroyed by the Honolulu Airport! But I have to admit that I HATE the promo scenes!! Save The Humans 03-15-2007, 12:26 AM 8. The FBs were much better than I expected (thank you, John Terry!), and it was good to see Claire lined up with everyone who's got guilt about killing/maiming/hurting someone. She fits better with the storyline now! :D Looks like Danielle decided to wait on the "other" side of Otherville, like she waited by the stream near The Flame. She ain't much for crossing paths with anyone on the Island, that's for sure. And I don't think it's just cuz she wants to survive. I think she knows FAR more than she's saying. But this is going OT. An 8. Be interesting seeing how this poll goes over the next few days. jasoncountdown 03-15-2007, 12:28 AM 9 again. The rescue mission continues to be my favorite plot arc on Lost since the Hatch/Desmond action at the beginning of season 2. Beach stuff was better than usual because it at least focused on Desmond and Charlie's story instead of continuing with the lightweight disney comedy stuff of the past two eps. The FBs were above average for season 3 thanks to John Terry. Great actor, and pretty much one of the best characters on the show. Ending was a 10 and the best since the Red Sox. Jack + sports = TV gold apparently. Betsy 03-15-2007, 12:28 AM Wow, I thought this episode was emotionally compelling -I teared up several times; I adore Christian and John Terry is incredible. Christian loves his daughter - I so didn't want to see her walk away from him. Poor guy..... I loved everything about this episode - there I disagree with you, Jennylee. Whether he was chasing birds or not, it's easy to see how Charlie could have slipped. People have accidents by the water all the time.......I also disagree about the episode lacking emotional punch, but we agree that John Terry rocks. I just can not say enough good things about him....and he is, by the way, very easy on the eyes, lol Jonesy 03-15-2007, 12:31 AM I gave it a 10! Lot's of fun! I can't believe Locke pushed Patchy into the fence! :eek1: And I can't wait to see "the other 48 days" in Othersville. What in the world happened to Jack to make him want to play football with a Seabilly??? Betsy 03-15-2007, 12:33 AM I gave it a nine. Pace, can we squee together? HOW freaking sweet are Charlie and Claire? I just about died when she took his hand and told him they'd go through this tough time together. Yes, I admit that I cried several times and I absolutely love Christian. He's certainly flawed, but to me he comes off as still a very decent guy with a good heart. He certainly loved Claire......of course it had to happen, but I just couldn't bear to see her walk away from him. Emilie brought so much vulnerability to Claire - she's been underused too long ; she's simply a very, very good actress who has brought great depth to the part of Claire. Claire asked the right questions and was a very active participant tonight; it was great to see. Hanover 03-15-2007, 12:34 AM Gave it an 8 - Knocked two points off for a second "Near Miss" in a row. Last week it was the destroying of the information in the communication station...this week it was for Danielle interrupting Patchy when he was about to mention Locke's paralysis. Other than that, it was nice to hear obvious questions being asked by the losties...and it felt like a season one episode. I guess TPTB had to steer a wide birth (aka the first seven or eight episodes) to correct their mistakes from the second half of season 2...fortunately it feels like they're on course again. sickotriz 03-15-2007, 12:35 AM I also gave this episode an 8. Solid ep, confirmation that Christian is Claire's father, the Others apparently know A LOT about the Losties, and I like that Claire knows about Desmond's... condition. Oh yeah, Claire is totally hot with the goth look, but I digress... The end scene with Jack playing football with Tom aka Mr. Friendly aka Zeke the Seabilly was so bizarre and over the top and I LOVED IT. Who would have thought at the end of season 1 that Jack would be playing football with a man who blew up a raft, kidnapped Walt, and left Jin, Michael, and Sawyer to die? And I loved Jack's celebration at the end, I pracically fell out of my chair. Next week looks awesome, I can't wait! GettinLost 03-15-2007, 12:36 AM I gave it a 7. The Claire parts were informative and revealing. Especially Jack's Dad bein her father. But I suspect everyone already knew that little tidbit of info.! Loved the rescue party scenes!! Hanover 03-15-2007, 12:36 AM "Everything Changes" :) What in the world happened to Jack to make him want to play football with a Seabilly??? LostLaura 03-15-2007, 12:42 AM I enjoyed this one a lot! Gave it a 9. I liked seeing more of Claire's pre-island life. And now she is linked with a near-death, so that makes her less perfect, more Lost-like. The sibling connection was too anticipated. :( But hey, I'm sure plenty of people were shocked, so it's still cool. I loved the Charlie and Claire relationship stuff. They're too cute. Sawyer was funny and sad. Sun and Jin had freakin' screentime. Desmond bugs, but the plot is interesting. Locke REALLY bugs, but the plot is interesting. Kate and Sayid freakin' rock. Sad to see interesting Patchy go, but it made for an amazing death scene. The fence was really cool, and the ending at Otherville ROCKED. Solid, solid episode. Claudia815 03-15-2007, 12:53 AM I gave it a nine. I loved Claire's story. It made me cry. The final scene with her mum and the scene with Christian were great. I know he was a drunk and a filanderer but he always comes off as sympathetic. I felt bad for him anyway. I love/hate Christian and always have and he's by far the most complex, most sympathetic Bad Daddy on this show. He's always THIS close to being a decent person and he just manages to make me love him and hate him at the same time. 9 again. Amen. THIS kind of beach story I can handle. The rescue mission was great because it rekindled my love for Kate (if we could steer clear of her love life for a little longer, that'd be great too), had Sayid in it (that's all he needs to do really) and brought me the gift of CRAZY Locke, which I love. The FBs were above average for season 3 thanks to John Terry. Great actor, and pretty much one of the best characters on the show. Yep. Ending was a 10 and the best since the Red Sox. Jack + sports = TV gold apparently. :lol2: I was dying to know more about Claire and they delivered. Good moments for Sun too. 9. I haven't liked an episode this much since A Tale Of Two Cities. Keep it up, Lost and I may just forget most of the miniseason happened. wolffootball37 03-15-2007, 12:56 AM i gave it a 9, ive been really impressed with the batch of episodes weve gotten since after hiatius. Island stuff was great, the bird catching was much less cheesy than i expected. Loved the rescue mission too though im sad to see patchey die. hope they know what there doing with locke because hes my favorite character. The flashbacks were great too, i was worried that they were going to make a huge continuity error with Claires mom, but they did a great job, and John Terry just made the episode so much better. hes just the greatest! I agree with you pace, he is sympathetic in a way. Loved the ending too. cant wait till next week! Aurora10 03-15-2007, 01:11 AM I gave it a 9. Great episode! GodBlessTexas 03-15-2007, 01:16 AM I loved it. Not perfect, but I gave it a 10 anyway. I'm falling in love with Lost again. It felt like we've been going nowhere for a while, but it finally feels like the story is getting some traction and making progress. SomethingWonderful 03-15-2007, 01:28 AM I'll give it an 8. I'm back on board after feeling a little skeptical about this whole season. This episode brought me back. Love the Uncle Jack twist....wondering if Claire and Jack will ever find out what we know. Love the security system. Love Kate. Love Desmond. Love Jack and the ending, and there's no way he's one of them. Just Jack in a momenatary lapse of his normal despondant woes. Love the note for the bird. Is it waterproof? Talon 03-15-2007, 01:44 AM I gave it an 8. I liked the interaction between Sayid and Locke. Kate was asking the right questions, but Danielle had to interrupt :) Next week's episode looks good! Can't wait to find out how Locke got in that wheelchair... SenatorKent 03-15-2007, 01:55 AM Man, I don't see how anyone could say this show is going downhill. This week and last week's episode are some of the best since season one! This week's episode was FANTASTIC. A 10 all around. Emilie's acting was breathtaking, and her character and flashbacks terrific. I can't wait until her next one and am so sad it'll probably be next year before I get another one :-( Her scene with her mom is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Also, the scene at the end reading the note...classic amazing lost. and her taking charlie's hand, standing by him, they are so my favorite couple on the island. jin and sun who? Besides all that, the stuff with Locke was just fantastic. Definite mystery going on there and it's all building up to next weeks. The scene between Rousseau and kate....fantastic. And the final scene was perhaps one of the best ends ever on Lost. All around this episode was out of the park. I think comparing the amount of posts in "loved it" to "didn't love it" speaks for themselves with how the writing on Lost is this season. Naysayers just want something to complain about...LOST is better than ever! Lija 03-15-2007, 02:11 AM I gave it a 9, because I'm "saving" my ten for a really awesome, incredible episode. But I liked this one a lot, espc. the last scene at the end. (OK, that's redundant, but you know what I mean!) It's so nice to get answers, and to see our Lost friends really DO something. I loved this ep and looking forward to re-watching it tomorrow after I've read everyone's specs...then I know what to look for, and that makes it more fun. lostfan4ever 03-15-2007, 02:12 AM Best episode of the season. Tommy 03-15-2007, 02:39 AM Best episode of the season for sure, maybe my favorite over all. Baileysdad 03-15-2007, 02:39 AM I gave it an 8...only Claire giving Charlie the heave ho AGAIN was misplaced...that didn't make sense to me. That was one point..and the fact they tied a PAPER not to the foot of a bird without waterproofing it somehow was the other point..:) Loved the interplay between the rescue party...Locke going commando on Patchy, a flashback that actually MEANT something and moved a storyline forward? Wow...it was fantastic. Three weeks in a row with above average epis..I hope this stablizes the ratings a bit.. Next week looks like the episode of a lifetime... Mr. Find 03-15-2007, 02:55 AM The two Island storylines and the flashback story were excellent. Up there with the FBYE episode as the best of this season so far! Bella_Harmon 03-15-2007, 02:55 AM What the hell are the writers doing with his character ? Nothing wrong with the writer. Some of fans did not see it was coming. I did...from the very begining. I saw him as an evil since his smile with orange in his mouth. He looked like an evil... Locke character 's development is brilliantly written by authors! He never was a hero. NathanielStarr 03-15-2007, 03:35 AM The Claire/Jack thing will be awesome if it's part of the big picture. If they were on the plane because this is all a big conspiracy and Jack's dad had something to do with it then awesome. If it's just a coincidence then it's totally lame. So we'll have to wait and see. penyours 03-15-2007, 04:43 AM this was a good episode and makes me more confident that Lost is recapturing it's magic. Claire's FB was fresh which isn't surprising considering it was her second pre-island FB, but well done none the less. The jack and Claire sibling storyline has been talked about quite a lot on these boards, but it's good to people's speculation turn out to be true! Seeing Jack at the end made me laugh out loud in disbelief, I can't wait to see how it unfolds. Christina Kim redeems herself somewhat after Stranger in a strange land. And folks, don't spoil us by talking about the preview and next week's show. without including spoilerfont. Thanks! Tiny Time Machine 03-15-2007, 04:43 AM I gave it a 9. I haven't enjoyed an episode this much in a long time. And the promo for next week's episode... bloody hell! Kitsume 03-15-2007, 04:43 AM LOST is dangerously back on track at the moment. I had all but lost faith until the Desmond episode and since then, I really feel that the show has found itself again. I'm just hoping that it is over by next season so that the steam it has built up can chug on through to the end. Great job with the last few episodes. It looks like things may finally be in order. 100% I think that would be Brother Jack? Sorry for the back to back posts, but I'm not good at the quote thingy and editing posts. The "Uncle Jack" comment is toward Claire's child which would be Jack's nephew. This further reinforces my theory that EVERYONE has an uncle Jack if they look hard enough lol. elektrobank 03-15-2007, 08:23 AM 5 for moi a little ho-hum, but setup nicely palomino_grl78 03-15-2007, 08:29 AM I gave it a 9. I loved the beach action and the flashbacks. Usually fb's bore me, but this one was really good. Claire's talk with her mom really moved me and not much does. Very entertaining episode in general. wanders01 03-15-2007, 08:35 AM Gave it a 7. It just showed me that Claire's a twit with Daddy issues which prolly isn't going to be good for little Aaron. He won't get to know his "dad" either. And ya gotta luv the fact that Des tells her his story and she accepts it at that and goes back with the now I understand attitude. Granted she believes in psychic abilities but had no reservations? Ahhh but what do I know? iowalost815 03-15-2007, 08:43 AM I gave it a 9, 'cause it was a good episode but I didn't want to hurt the writers' feelings. But I was actually bored with the flashbacks. And couldn't help but wonder why NOONE else ever thought to use a tree to get past the security line. Maybe they just didn't have an axe... . It was good to see Jack again!. It was a 7 for me. D/ lostlocke 03-15-2007, 08:54 AM I gave it a 7. I liked it, but just not as much as other episodes this season. I thought the scene with pregnant claire in her flashback in her mom's room was great. Emelie did a great job. Also I now declare never to read spoilers again. When Christian told Claire he was her father I looked at my sister and said Imagine how shocked we would have been if I didn't read the spoilers and know about the rumor of Jack and Claire being half siblings. I cut out spoilers little by little but now I have to go full force!! What about the scene where patchy dies, gross!! My sis and I were both cringing. Yucky. All in all, it was pretty good. I love that the bird is flying free with the note from them. That was great writing. Joshypoo 03-15-2007, 09:20 AM I gave it a 7 as well. The epi didn't wow me, but it was just ok. Patchy's zap scene was pretty cool - didn't see that coming... what is going on with Locke? Claire's flashback was so-so - kinda boring. The best part was of course the ending with Jack. Pov 03-15-2007, 09:22 AM A good solid 8. Rescue mission was great. I thought some of the Claire scenes may have dragged a bit but it was nice to finally get confirmation of what many of us suspected - that Christian is Claire's father. AnalogKid 03-15-2007, 09:25 AM All in all a good episode, I gave it a 9 because the flashback was decent (and Claire looks devastating with that hair color). I don't think most people were surprised about the Claire/Jack connection, since it was fairly well hinted at in the AL flashback last season. More surprising was seeing Jack playing football with Tom at the Others' camp and appearing to have a great time. :eek2: That was soooo frustrating how Rousseau interrupted Patchy just as he was about to say something interesting about Locke, but not surprising. sickotriz 03-15-2007, 09:39 AM All in all a good episode, I gave it a 9 because the flashback was decent (and Claire looks devastating with that hair color). I agree, the Claire/Jack connection didn't come from spoilers, but from speculation caused by "Two for The Road" last season. I'm glad they confirmed it here though...and look forward to an awesome scene with Claire and Jack learning about it (hopefully!). I will say again that the scene with Jack playing football with Tom was GOLDEN. And the way that Jack spiked the ball at the end was a perfect closer. Something about the look on his face when he did it had me laughing out loud at the bizarreness of the scene. And yeah, the way Rousseau interrupted was really annoying, but I believe he was just going to say that he knew Locke was paralyzed (he cut off in mid word "pa---") It's going to be a long 7 days until the next episode. Blue Coral 03-15-2007, 09:44 AM 10 it was an excellent episode. I really enjoyed it. desmondslosthairstraighteners 03-15-2007, 10:53 AM Wow, great episode 8/10. Great flashback, Emilie is a terrific actor, loved her in Brick aswell, always thought she was underused this season. I liked how the side story with Desmond and Charlie, and Charlie and Claire tied togther, and both were extremely relevant (as opposed to a certain ping pong tournament last episode disparaging what was otherwise a fantastic episode). I loved Desmond's conversation with Charlie, the subtleness of Des' comments to Charlie on why he should follow him - typical LOST greatness. I used to read spoilers for season 2, but i don't anymore so i thought the Claire Jack reveal was good, not great but you know pretty cool. Loving the prime rescue storyline, that conversation in the jungle with Mikhael and our gang, was some great nuggets of dialogue. (Danielle ruined Mikhael's reveal about Locke - nooooooo!) I thought Mikhael was a great character, and i'm kind of sad he's dead, but it did make for an awesome death scene, wasn't expecting it. Which brings me to the security barrier - AWESOME. Reminded me of Jurassic Park's electric fence, but this was a MILLION times better. The whole tree climbing with Kate was incredibly intense, and i love the way how she's so eager always to go first, with first entering the hatch in the 2nd season, and now. Edge of the knife stuff right there. The Jack thing was incredibly bizarre, and really funny in a dark way when he made that touchdown. Either way i have that LOST feeling back, and after hearing about (i don't watch the previews as sometimes they give away too much) how apparently good next week's episode could be, the week couldn't pass any slower! WOOOO LOST IS BACK. Sorry for the back to back posts, but I'm not good at the quote thingy and editing posts. The "Uncle Jack" comment is toward Claire's child which would be Jack's nephew. This further reinforces my theory that EVERYONE has an uncle Jack if they look hard enough lol. Ah you see it's different in Britain, everyone has an uncle Paul over here. Hell i have two uncle Paul's lol. Remus Lupin 03-15-2007, 10:54 AM 10. It was mAGNIFICENT. And the ending cliffhanger: OOOOH. They should've made a 24-hour season and had episode 12 as the last fall episode. That cliffie would've brought more people back for sure! pibbsneaker 03-15-2007, 11:38 AM Jack playing football and Claire and Charlie sending off a homing pigeon? What a joke. It's unfortunate that that kind of "cliffhanger" appeals to so many people. Back in Season 1 each episode left me in awe. Now I'm just in awe at how awful the writing has gotten and how 2 people could ruin the best show on television. Petragrrl 03-15-2007, 11:50 AM Gave it yet another 8... a solid and entertaining episode. I have to admit I was a little worried at first when I read the writers' credit (no offense), but everything turned out alright, imo. I loved how the show is re-introducing the concept of throwing continuity hints and snippets at us which will come back a couple of episodes later... like Locke's story, for example. At first I was irritated at what the writers made him do, but I realize now that he is behaving in a way that will totally be explained in next week's episode... and I can't wait for it. I also believe the boar that Desmond was "hunting" will make a reappearance... :) I was semi-spoiled for this episode, which turned out to be a huge bummer because the two things I knew turned out to be the "shocker" in the middle and the cliffhanger... oh well. islandchica 03-15-2007, 11:59 AM 9 1/2. REALLY good episode. Again, probably one of my Top 10 in Lost history. And that is definitely saying something! I loved, loved, loved the flashbacks. Emilie did a really great job (some of those more emotional scenes were crazy!) and she looked really cool as a brunette. And of course, the whole Christian-turning-out-to-be-Claire's-dad thing was pretty trippy, even though I had already heard a theory about that and fully expected it to happen. Claire's a smart lady, figuring out how to "get off the island". I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if it works out... (let's hope for the sake of the show that it doesn't! ) The only thing that I didn't like was seeing Patchy die. :( He was cool! Can't say I'm too happy with Lockle about that, but what's new? billy76 03-15-2007, 12:01 PM I'll give it a 7. It was generally a good episode. The bird thing was a little weird to me, and the simplicity with which they climbed over the electromagnetic field (or whatever the hell it is) was a little disappointing. I mean, that's it, they chop down a tree and they're over this seemingly advanced force field that supposedly surrounds Otherville? Come on. The Claire flashback was okay--not incredible but not horrible either. We got confirmation that Jack's Dad is Claire's dad (some of us weren't sure on that ;-) The "Charlie is going to die at any minute" story is still intriguing, especially since it always involves Claire; and she knows about it now. Patchy getting "killed" by the field was cool, Locke having C4 was REALLY cool (along with all the questions that raises) and Jack Playing Football with the Others was really interesting (seemingly explainable, but interesting). Rousseau is still interesting, if only due to the little we know about her. The Otherville ending and preview for next week look really good. IStoleCindy 03-15-2007, 12:07 PM When was the last time an episode did this well on a poll? 5 is the lowest score so far! And quite rightly. This was a FANTASTIC episode! All the Claire/Christian stuff has been obvious for quite a while now, but at least it's confirmed. At last everyone's back to some good ol' adventuring. We've got more intrigue and excitement now than we've had for a long time. Locke's certainly earned himself a few more flashbacks from just half a sentence uttered by Mikhail. And that last scene!!! Wow! whispervixen 03-15-2007, 12:25 PM Loved it :D!! 10/10 kena 03-15-2007, 12:53 PM I gave the episode a 7; I enjoyed the episode--both the island stories and the flashback, which is not always the case for me. Also, Claire is not one of the characters I have a particular interest in, so I was pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment of her storyline. I know lots of people really like Claire (more so than me), so I hope the episode was good for you! redmaria 03-15-2007, 01:02 PM i gave it a 9 also i believe its more like an 8 or 7.still a great episode.mystery is back...its really sad that Mikhael died.REALLY TERRIBLY TRAGIC.:frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::frown:: frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::f rown::frown::frown:and what the hell is wrong with Locke.Mikhael seemed to know him real well.theres something sly about ole:mad: John..well soon find out ,hopefully my only objection is on TPTB confirming something so unbelievably obvious and well known.that Claire and Jack evidently are siblings(Claire Shephard anyone?)..i really thought we wouldnt see that coming..i wish it were someone else ..just for the sake of it anyways,a great episode ,overall.written in the familiar Lost successful way. oh yeah, and i found goth ear piercing Claire totally hilarious!sorry, but it wasnt convincing at all.hahaha!no way! and Claire keeps on being a pain in the neck..but the epi ruleD! GDH 03-15-2007, 01:24 PM I gave this episode an 8. Very solid, with some great moments. I'm expecting big things from the remainder of the season now. Lost_In_NJ 03-15-2007, 01:48 PM I gave it a 9, only because I am reserving a 10 for the best episode of the entire series. Loved seeing a human side to Danielle. She isn't as crazy as some might think. Can't wait to see the outcome of the Sayid/Locke convo. I kinda like this side of Locke. Seeing Jack playing football nearly blew my mind!! And the promo showed me exactly what I have been waiting to find out from the beginning of the show! March 21st can't get here quick enough. Helen_ 03-15-2007, 02:02 PM I loved it so much! Voted 10, excellent. do_it_for_johnny 03-15-2007, 02:13 PM TEN! I KNEW Christian was Claire's daddy too!! I'm just glad the writers are feeding us more and more lately.... some may call this another plot twist, but I see it as an answer to yet another question the show has posed throughout its run. I too am a little sad that Patchy is gone -- he was surely an interesting character. That death scene was pretty brutal (but I have to say, pretty well done). PLUS the ending was simply LOST-ESQUE! Two weeks in a row the show has left me saying "WHY CAN'T IT BE WEDNESDAY YET?!" Brilliant ending. I've missed Jack :( Great epi! biggerricker 03-15-2007, 02:16 PM I gave it a 6. Perhaps that is too low, but for me it was a let down from last week. "You were not on the list because you are flawed." was the most interesting line of the night. Mikhail's death at Locke's hands was unexpected but I liked the confirmation that Locke was A) up to more then playing chess last episode, and B) lying about it. That being said the high-tech security fence wasn't very secure. I didn't buy the idea that the big bulky pole/dishes didn't generate a the same field that killed Mikhail 2 feet above the pole. Claire was solid as always. but the hospital scenes were a little soapish. Claire's Aunt in particular seemed a little one-dimensional. Christian always charismatic. the confirmation that he was her Dad somehow seemed less believable on screen then when we were speculating about it. Desmond and Sayid were great as always. I do have to agree with JennyLee, while I respect the ocean, that particular patch of it did NOT look too treacherous. Baileysdad and Somethingwonderful are spot on about the little scrap of paper tucked into the tag didn't look real secure or waterproof. LOVED the football scene. I will revise my rating to 7 just for that. Relic 03-15-2007, 02:16 PM I had to give it a six for a few reasons: 1. :tongue1: In response to the above: 1. Was an interesting character, but I'm tired of new characters, so I'm 'meh' about this. 2. Locke is finally becoming a character I like, I love how he's giving in to the dark side, he's finally becoming interesting. 3. Claire I"m meh on too, I'm tired of her being so wishy washy with Charlie, but I like the two of them together, and I finally like Charlie, now that the drug use isn't so overshadowing 4. I think the whole Jack/Claire sibling thing was done stupidly, I felt it would've been so much better if they could eventually find out they're related. But yes, Lost is a soap opera, albeit a very entertaining well written one. I had to give this episode an 8, we're finally getting back into the first season feeling. This show is an ensemble show dang it!!! We need to see the interaction with everyone. I'm tired of them keeping on introducing new mysteries, new characters, with no sign whatsoever of dealing with the existing ones. And that last scene with Jack was awesome! What's Kate going to do now eh? Vertical 03-15-2007, 02:23 PM Looks like Danielle decided to wait on the "other" side of Otherville, like she waited by the stream near The Flame. She ain't much for crossing paths with anyone on the Island, that's for sure. And I don't think it's just cuz she wants to survive. I think she knows FAR more than she's saying. Danielle crossed the fence with them. She was in front of Sayid when they were watching Jack play football. I gave this episode an 8. I had a few issues with it, but for the most part it was excellent. My biggest complaint was that they didn't immediately sit Locke down and ask him what the stew was really going on. He's carrying C4, which has massive implications (he knew the Flame was booby-trapped, and therefore must have done it deliberately, and he also has something in mind for the C4), so we have to wonder exactly what his motives are. Sayid starts to question him, which was refreshing, but quickly gives up and it is seemingly forgotten. Outside of that, though, a thoroughly entertaining episode. That's two in a row for me, which is something that hasn't happened since the beginning of Season 2. Impressive. Passport 03-15-2007, 02:38 PM 'Par Avion' - 9 I felt that this episode is one of the strongest outings of Lost in Season 3, along side 'The Glass Ballerina' and 'Not In Portland'. The episode suceeded in getting across its message through Claire's flashbacks and her on-island story. The message itself was 'Never give up hope', which mirrored 'Tricia Tanaka Is Dead' and Desmond's character arc in general. I really like this new addition to the Faith vs Science theme. Claire herself continues to be one of the most grounded characters on LOST and finally is involved in a plot that doesn't revolve around her child. I am however beginning to grow tired of these 'cliffhanger'-endings, I'm at the point of no longer caring about them! Why couldn't TPTB end the episode with the beautiful scene of Charlie reading Claire's note? One of my most powerful moments in LOST history. On2ndThought 03-15-2007, 02:52 PM I gave it a 9----these past few episodes (minus Stranger...) have definitely re-energized my love for Lost. Some random thoughts: --thought it was a nicely balanced episode between beach-life and jungle-trek....much more like Season 1. --Emilie de Ravin, I owe you an apology---you are not just a pretty face! Just goes to show you what this actress can do when she's given something to work with, writers. --I actually liked Charlie this time. --For better or worse, I think I like Jack better compromised (yes, I know that's debatable). --Sorry to see Mikhail go....he was an interestingly complicated villain. --Love John Terry episodes....I found Christian Shepherd more likeable and humane as Claire's guilt-ridden dad than as Jack's dad. --Regardless of who or what Danielle turns out or doesn't turn out to be, I love any episode with her in it. Mira Furlan can do no wrong in my opinion. I understood Danielle's reasons for not asking any questions about Alex---too much pain involved. I was very touched by the scene between Danielle and Kate by the stream. Very fine, indeed. I also found it interesting that despite her philosophy of avoiding confrontation, she decided to stay with the team all the way through to finding the village. Despite the pain, I don't think she can resist the possibility of seeing Alex. --Oh, Locke, you enigma you! I desperately hope he killed Mikhail for a better reason than not wanting the others to know he was once paralyzed (as some have surmised). I'm finding this new Locke much more intriguing than the Great White Hunter of Season 1. If he doesn't turn out to be connected to Dharma, I'll be very disappointed. I'd rather he turns out to be a heavy than an obsessively self-indulgent man who offs people because they threaten his image. I'd love for the writers to give Terry O'Quinn something like that to really sink his teeth into. --I vote for Sayid for leader of the pack. Lockefan 03-15-2007, 03:02 PM Okay, I have a dilemma: If I keep handing out "10"s, no one is going to take me seriously anymore! But Season Three has been amazing so far and I had to give this one a 10 as well because it was quite simply classic LOST. Great suspense, great characters, great story, and a hefty heaping of the Others creeping me out, without really even seeing them in this episode for more than a few moments at the end (except for Patchy, who added to the creepy-Orwell-with-a-touch-of-Ira-Levin-thrown-in thaaang, with talk of "you're not on the list" and "you are flawed", etc. *shudder*). That alarm/security system was SO well done! By well done, I mean, really, really creepy and scary. You could just feel the Orwellian chill that the LOSTaways and Danielle must have gotten by coming up to those mute inanimate incarnations of everything creepy and disturbing about "the Others". omg Claire's backstory was so well done and heartbreaking (and what was with that ice cold Aunt, did she take lessons from Walt's mother, or maybe it was from Shannon's stepmother? She has "off-island Other" written all over her). So, my hunch is true, Jack and Claire are half brother and sister--coooool! And with her hair black, I even thought there was a very believable resemblance. My but Emilie de Ravin is SO gorgeous. And her acting was stellar last night, I felt. Her eyes are amazing. LOST has some of the most amazing eyes in television! Between Claire, Danielle and Locke, one could get "lost" in those eyes. What else, what else? I'm so rushed and distracted whilst posting this...but I had to get on here TODAY and say: wow! Wanted to do it while the episode is still fresh in my mind, because my VCR no longer tapes, but that is another story...where was I? Oh yeah: this episode got a 10 because it hit all the classic elements of LOST and resulted in what that usually results in, namely: me being completely drawn into the story. Well done, LOST team! From the writing to the directing to the acting to whoever designed those truly chilling, Orwellian security thingies, to the person(s) doing "young Claire's" costume and makeup (perfect), to whomever decided on that chilling bit of twisty final punctuation at the end of having Jack spike the football in that scary and flawless scene in which Kate sees him, he appears to be running towards her for a second, but then we realize he is seemingly happily playing football with Tom, of all people--creepy! Has he been brainwashed, ala Karl, or wuh? We don't know! Great job throughout the episode of making the Others society seem very chilling and Orwellian. 10, baby. sandleford 03-15-2007, 04:00 PM Good episode overall. I gave it a 7.. almost an 8. These last two episodes together have really felt cohesive and akin to previous "great" episodes of Lost. The balance of characters and pacing of the plot were very satisfying. I've come to expect the clumsy moments where they thwart or even kill any character that has the "goods" on island, but at least we got some info out of Patchman/Bakunin before he died. My big complaint was that Locke really needs to become a better "island buddy" to the rest of these people. They've all been more than understanding with his "mysterious" behavior (including Sayid the Torturer) but recently his motives are reaching a boiling point. I hope this next episode he at least shows his true intentions to someone or... anyone. Lea_Lost 03-15-2007, 04:48 PM I gave it a solid 9, because of these: -- Desmond to Charlie: "I was hoping you might wanna join me in a hunt" (instead of spending time with your gf... hint... hint... ) -- Mikhail: "You are flawed" (what, and you aren't????) --Christian Shepard: "I am your father" Not a big jawdrop, but still t'was great to hear it spelled out like that... not the father of the year poor Christian... --Jin speaking English, Sun looking menacingly at Sawyer --John Locke: "I'm sorry" :24: brought back memories from LTDA ("I was wrong") -- Claire believing Des, supporting Charlie, seeing Emily acting --no triangle, thank goodness! --Jack and Tom playing ball, Kate's face when seeing that!!! A RIOT! ... and so much more. Really really good eppy. :clapping: tiewashere 03-15-2007, 05:32 PM I love all Claire episodes... 10/10 Lady EKO 03-15-2007, 06:14 PM I give this a 7 for the following 3 reasons... 1. Claire's letter is not going to make it far and if it does no one will be able to find them with the lack of information on it. Charlie should have spoke up, that letter was not "perfect" in the least bit. 2. Locke's C4 in the bag, I wish Mr. Locke would tell Sayid and Kate that he does not want to leave the island that is the reason of some of his actions. 3. The interaction with Claire and her newly discovered father was off, can't quite put my finger on it but it is not consistent with some of Claire's previous FB's. irish lost fan 03-15-2007, 06:20 PM 10/10 Best episode of Season 3 imo. Been waiting ages for them to concentrate on Claire for more than 2 seconds. I already knew about Claire being Jack's half sis but I still loved the flashback, the opening of the crash was brilliant. Great acting by Emilie, she's just proved again that she can deliver the goods when she gets more airtime. Please dont place her back in the background now. Holmes 03-15-2007, 06:23 PM Danielle crossed the fence with them. Impressive. This was the best episode for some time but there is still too much wrong with Lost. At least Claire did something constructive and Kate made a decision but again i think they have used Locke to create conflict - they kept doing this with Locke and Jack in season 2. Also, it felt a little like Jurassic Park. The explorers climbing over the ' barrier ' and the birds flying off into the sunset. Better dialogue, soundtrack, editing...the whole structure was much better. 7. fruitloop 03-15-2007, 07:03 PM I gave it a 10 also! It was surprising that Locke threw patchy in the fence! Then Patchy said "Thanks" ????? Liked the Claire flashback...Charlie...his faith didnt last too long did it...Cant imagine how they will have Claire and Jack become aware kinship except through Sawyer...Poor Kate....thought she was gonna save ole Jack...... It is cooking now! Glad the ratings are up.....I miss jumping on the board after the show but its later and have togo to bed.... sjb121590 03-15-2007, 07:04 PM Gave it an 8. I loved the flashback. LOVED IT. Brought a lot of interesting things in play for Claire's character (although I knew her father was Christian all along, LOL). The on-island stuff seemed fillerish. The whole coming to the fence and going over it didn't need to be that drawn out. It was interesting, but just lacked something. The only thing really exciting on the island was at the end when we saw Jack playing football with Tom. Now THAT made my jaw drop. :eek2: annie_monica 03-15-2007, 07:04 PM I gave it a bad rating. The worst so far (for Lost.) Other than finding out Claire worked at a tattoo parlor and the ending, I was not impressed by this ep. lostgurl 03-15-2007, 07:27 PM I gave it a 10 because Patchy's death was just too GOOD! Claire always has such good episodes. The weird thing is, I'm getting close to hating 'island Claire.' Give me 'flashback Claire' anyday. She's just not interesting when she's hanging around the island. It's a shame because Emilie is such a good actress, her flashbacks are when she really gets to shine. I also loved Jin's grunt of frustration at Desmond when he shot the gun and scared away the bird. Jin is soo cute. I adore Jack and I refuse to even think that he may be switching sides. Locke is super creepy again, and how much do I love that?! I'm so glad Sayid has something to do and is involved in the story again. sk8 03-15-2007, 08:11 PM Gave it 9. I never cared about Claire but I really loved her episode . Maxum 03-15-2007, 08:57 PM My ratings for Lost episodes have been fairly consistent with 7s and 8s. Sorry, I'm just not disliking the season like some. I do have to say that last night's episode was really well rounded in terms of cast and pacing. There was just enough action, information, warm moments, and mysterious moments to really make the hour fly by. I'm glad we got confirmation about Jack and Claire being siblings. Yes, I like mysteries and all, but sometimes you just want confirmation and not necessarily revelation - know what I mean? Jack and Claire, imho, NEED to have some family. Like when Claire got angry with Charlie and said that she thought she wasn't alone in the world anymore. I think Jack's been feeling the same way. The fact that we never saw Christian identify himself to Claire by name creates another mystery as to how Jack and Claire will ever find out about their sibling connection. My guess is that it will come from the Others. Emilie was great. She was never my favorite character, but last night, I saw a different side of her, and I like her more now. She's not as timid and sweet as sugar as I had originally defined her. She's sassy and in your face when she has to be, and that's definitely a "Shephard" trait. Emilie did a wonderful job. Smart cookie coming up with the homing pigeon theory (or migratory bird theory - whatever). It was smart. I loved seeing Christian Shephard again. It was very interesting that Claire accused him of trying to "fix" things. Hmmmmm. Another interesting development in last night's episode: The Locke Problem. John and Sayid really starting to lock horns. It's now quite obvious that there is a "Locke Problem," and even the usually calm and cool Sayid got angry and impatient with John. He also was condescending when talking to John about his "walking stick." I didn't have a problem with it at all, but if Jack had done that - oh brother - the boards would have lit up like a Christmas tree. I rather like these new developments with John Locke. As I said in last week's post, John Locke is not different than in earlier episodes. The writers haven't changed him. He was never really a hero, imo. It could occasionally BE heroic, but doing heroic or noble things was not something I would equate with Locke. He's on a mission. Period. I also think that John is becoming darkly obsessed about the island and his "place" on it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think John deliberately murdered Mikhail. He didn't want Kate and Sayid to know about his paralysis. He had no remorse over the death of Mikhail, and it was a deliberate shove. Who's to say that the "island" isn't infecting or possessing John in some way. He knew that the house was rigged with C-4, and he must have known what typing in "77" would do to that house. He did it anyway. I'm enjoying the twists with John, and he aggravated me to no end last season. I thought the Kate and Rousseau scene was really well done. It really helped me understand why Rousseau has been calmly moving through the jungle with Sayid, Kate, and Locke, and not acting like a giddy mother who can't wait to see her child. She explained her reasons and trepidation perfectly. "You're not on the list because you're flawed." That was a very interesting remark. First off, thank you to the Lost writers for finally answering the question of the what was the List. Second, the idea that you can't be on the list if you are flawed is nuts. It's a skewed view of things. NO ONE in Othersville is without flaws, and frankly, without flaws, you are not a human being. Therefore, I'm wondering if the only way to be ON the list is to be "cleansed" like Karl was in the earlier episode. (Another wait, watch, and see I guess). Lastly, LOVED that Jack was back. I was missing him. It was very creepy seeing him playing football with Tom, as it is so not Jack, based on everything we have seen of his actions this season. Trusting the Others is so anti-Jack. Kate, Sayid, and Locke's expressions, especially Kate's, was excellent. It was both horror and awe as she watched Jack spike the football with apparent glee, enjoying his new "home." In my opinion, Jack is just biding his time. He knows he's stuck in Othersville, and I don't think he's expecting to be rescued. So he can either stay in a cage or keep his word and tend to Ben's recovery and be let out and about. Boy, next Wednesday can't come soon enough. Overall, a very entertaining episode. LostIslandBaby 03-15-2007, 09:57 PM It was a 10! Loved it, loved it, loved it!!! DrUrbino 03-15-2007, 10:30 PM 10/10 I thought it was a terrific episode, for pure entertainment I enjoyed EVERY minute. I would probably lower my votes in a few of the previous polls if I could, based on how much I have enjoyed the last three. Once again I think TPTB continue to do a tremendous job developing these complex characters and displaying the mutiple facets of their personalities. Locke who SEEMED out of character last week, however it was in fact to serve his own adjenda (he was lying) which was illustrated well in this episode and I imagine will be tied up next week. Emile de Ravin was amazing and her backstory revealed a rebellious aspect of her character which seemed to exist in previous episodes however had not been explored. These characters are flawed "morally" as in the "Others" opinion, however ALSO in very simplistic ways (forgetfullness, lapses in judgement, etc...), this brings a certain quality of authenticity and realism to an otherwise unbelievable premise and surreal situations. I especially enjoyed the note Claire wrote, which explained the allegory within the backstory and events on the island. There are people still alive and there is hope, both on the island and back home. Tis a question of faith, obvious but subtle enough for my taste. I think they have done this increasingly well in the last three episodes. Once again, it was great to have most of the ensemble cast back, I guess my only complaint would be no Hurley. The ending was perfect I can't wait to see what is going on with Jack and Mr. Friendly? :) brasoveanu 03-15-2007, 11:22 PM 7/10 for me. And i'm being generous... In fact my opinion is shared between fanatic devotion, and total disapointment. I'm being generous, because Mikhail Bakunin (who is my favorite minor character so far since Ethan Rom !) had an active role in saving this show these past 2 weeks of course; including in "Par Avion", where he has been great, and had a great death ! I'll certainly miss him ... He also revealed a lot of stuff of course... (love when he says "of course", that guy was great !) I loved all the action with the "rescue team" ; the fence thing was awesome ; and the final scene with Jack and Tom playing football .... :eek2: Fantastic ! Makes me waiting for next week impatiently The Claire flashback AND on-island action however was 100% boring ... I always found her quite annoying anyway, but that really was TOO MUCH !!!! At the end, i couldn't stand so much clair air-time ... Good twist however with Jack and her being brother-sister ... I'm sure this will have some relevance later on... What's up with that useless and stupid SOS message and "sweet romantic crap" ? It sounded more like a soap opera than a show about 40 victims on a really weird island with misteries and crazy kidnapping people ... ***Mod edited*** I can take no more of this dumb love stuff. If i don't usually watch series and movies, it's because i can't stand stupid romance... I thought Lost was an exception, please keep it a good, intelligent, entertaining show without grandmother-soap-operaish crap... 100% Keep it up, Lost and I may just forget most of the miniseason happened. I think as well :) These past episodes have been really cool ! And i love your avatar  OFG 03-16-2007, 08:30 AM I gave it a 6 because at long last characters are noticing when other characters act weird and are calling them on it. During the mini-season they seemed to be on drugs and have no ability to make short term memories or display basic human curiosity or do anything but hoard information. Now there is some information getting shared, and for example it didn't end with Desmond and Charlie continuing to infuriate Claire but rather with some communication and resolution. Good sign, although I resent the fact that I have been deprived so long that I appreciate it this much when characters behave kind of rationally! The note was ridiculous; Claire's tantrum was silly (after she killed the breakfast by going off in left field, she got mad at Charlie for having an erratic change of mood? Pot. Kettle). The whole Mom in a coma plot was way soap opera. John Terry was wonderful and without him the backstory would have been annoying. We knew he was her father already if we were paying attention during Two for the Road, so no excitement there. Then as to Patchy's revelations about the list and the submarine and the effects of the EMP, this is exciting in so far as its part of an "information-delivering" trend by TBTB. But the whole delivery was dull. The rescue mission was dull, not edge of the seat. The edge between the characters was missing. I think the flip-flopping around of characters' has messed with "who they are" so fundamentally that they can't "relate" to each other properly. Sayid only seems half-believable when he taxes John for behaving stupidly, as if part of Sayid's brain is in the same place as mine, thinking, hell, I don't know who John is any more, why would anything he does surprise me? While it was fairly cool to see Patchy amaze them by knowing their names, also a "so what" to this revelation after the Portland episode and the Ben/Juliet revelations to Jack. Yes the Others have the means to dossier everyone. So that was ho hum and once again the Losties failed to do the NORMAL reaction and immediately interrogate Patchy as to how he knows all their names. It seems like an all too convenient device that at the same time Sayid and an Other with information got brought together, Sayid had to confront this thing in the past that now makes him not want to use any torture or coercion. Excuse me, but as he had already gone through the catharsis in Paris with his former victim before he ever got to the island, why didn't that memory interfere with his ability to torture all along? No, now it is convenient to put Sayid on a leash AND convenient to make non-violent John Locke, who could not shoot the undercover agent who destroyed his commune utopia, perfectly capable of hurling Patchy to his death so that patchy couldn't mention John's paralysis. Also, Danielle's non-interest in Alex is inconsistent with her former actions, both in Live Together Die Alone and later in the Medical Hatch reconnoitre. Lastly, Charlie and Claire's relationship dynamic belongs in a show about high school; it isn't being played out anything like two people of their age and life experience, Charlie in particular seems to have regressed to about the emotional age of when he got the piano for Christmas. It seems the writers forgot he has years of has been world weary rock star shaping his personality. Still, gave it a 6 because it actually followed from the action in the previous episode and the continuity was refreshing. But couldn't give it more for that alone as it's a very bad sign that I now feel grateful that sequential episodes aren't bizarrely disconnected. ETA that I knew from Two for the Road that Claire would be Jack's half sister. I have been watching spoiler free, and the set-up was clear. When I saw Christian in the Mum's room, my only surprise was that due to not reading spoilers I didn't know this episode would be the one to reveal that detail. A revelation it was not. Neither was it a revelation to see how ordinary the barracks looked, because we already saw that in the season opening. A revelation to Kate et al, but not to the audience. I wasn't shocked by the Jack scene; it seemed consistent with the "book club and cookies" moment to have a scene at the Village look surprisingly benign and everyday, only now Jack is part of it. Made a good teaser, for sure, but was not shocking. xpetri 03-16-2007, 09:01 AM 9/10. The Desmond/ Charlie/ Claire stuff was a little flat. If you live spoiler free the Christian is Claire's dad stuff is a shock. pinkrose 03-16-2007, 12:01 PM I really enjoyed the episode. I like Claire, and it was nice to learn more about her past. I know season 2's Claire episode was informative about the whole kidnapping ordeal, but we didn't learn anything about her past before she came to the island. It was interesting to see another side to Claire. I wish the Christian being her dad part was a surprise, but I guess it's also nice to speculate something and have it really be true. The island part was good too with the interactions with Patchy and figuring out how to get past the security system. I really loved the ending with Jack playing football. PennyKnows 03-16-2007, 01:18 PM It wasn't as good as the last two IMO, but I gave it an 8 because the last scene where they saw Jack with Tom was such a jaw-dropper. Abby_ 03-16-2007, 04:07 PM Thought it was awesome. Not the best...so I'll give it a 9. LOVED when Patchy told Kate she wasn't on the list. LOL Team Taskmaster 03-16-2007, 05:33 PM The Team gave this one 8 out of ten. The Claire stuff was not that interesting to us. The issue about her mother reveals nothing, and her connection to Jack, while interesting, doesn’t really change anything for us, either. We are growing a little weary of the rescue-Charlie storyline, although we of not advocating offing Charlie. The part that we liked was the journey of the Fab 4 across the island. Locke’s behavior is so bizarre, and we find that fascinating. Solid acting by almost everyone, and that ending is going to generate so much speculation! AZJeepDude 03-16-2007, 10:04 PM Best episode of the season (the bar wasn't set that high, however). Iamonthemanifest 03-17-2007, 01:40 AM What's not to love? And, finally, actually, I think its the very first one of all of our outrageous guesses proven correct!:eek2: Can't wait to see how the Others use this against him. jheri 03-17-2007, 04:58 PM I always look forward to the next episode of LOST so I did like it but it wasn't my absolute favorite, but looking forward to next weeks episode. Devera 03-17-2007, 06:50 PM I gave it a solid 9. The reveal with Claire and Jack should have been huge, but unfortunately I've read to much speculation and then an article where writers said two Lost characters were siblings, and Jack and Claire seemed to be the most likely. Still, the reveal was well done. It kind of makes me think of the Lost Connections bit on the second season DVD and how Jack's dad kept showing up everywhere...what's up with that? The stuff with Claire and Charlie on the island was sweet. I liked how she trusted him, although how quickly she went for it was a bit of a surprise. But when you consider she still believes that the psychic she went to sent her on this plane so that she could raise Aaron... I was a bit shocked by the revelations about Claire's mom, and I had to go back and watch _Raised by Another_. It sure puts a different spin on Claire's comments about her mom--it seems even some of her closest friends and relationships were in the dark about what was going on. It feels so great to see so much more of the original characters, and they seem to be being portrayed in such a genuine way. Kate seems to be getting a bit of her strength back. I just recently watched _Whatever the Case May Be_ and was thinking--whatever happened to that Kate? But she seems to be coming back. I'm interested in what will happen when the rescue party meets the Others next week, and to see Locke's backstory. No matter if he is being good or bad or both, Locke is always a fun one to see just what he will do! JeremyBender 03-17-2007, 10:06 PM Gave it an 8. Loved the mission stuff with John et al., loved the death of Mikhail, the FB was terrific, I deducted points for the mind-numbing Charlie/Claire "Stay away from my baby/No, come back/No, I mean stay away/Um, come back, please/stay away etc. etc." tedium. Welcome to Otherville/The Barracks Jack! The Man from Tallahassee looks like it's going to be awesome. Ben and John in scenes together again? LOST heaven for me. jacaddis 03-18-2007, 12:10 PM i give it an 8. I loved Emilie De Ravin's performance a lot. Especially in the flashbacks. quite touching and now we finally know more about Claire. And i like the charlie/claire/bird scene...very clairely:rolleyes: Further the scene with Kate, Locke, Sayid and the other guy were ok, especially the last scene with Jack. That scene was quite suprising. Jack playing football:eek2: ... lol And cant wait for the next episode schoff 03-18-2007, 05:22 PM Aw. Charlie keeps dying for Claire. That should earn him some serious snuggle points. Can't give it a 10, since what the heck was up with Sawyer being in the episode? His inclusion was completely jarring and unnecessary. lovelost4815162342 03-18-2007, 05:24 PM Aw. Charlie keeps dying for Claire. That should earn him some serious snuggle points. completely agree hes so sweet to die so many times for her!!! Well i said it was a 9 because 10 would have to be ridiculously good. The last 2 epis have been 9s. Even though i thot enter 77 wus SLIGHTLY better than this one. But they wer pretty much equal. Both amazing Krystal 03-18-2007, 07:34 PM Can't give it a 10, since what the heck was up with Sawyer being in the episode? His inclusion was completely jarring and unnecessary. My sentiments exactly . It's like TPTB thinks he's so popular that they have to show him in every episode, even if he isn't given lines. I gave this episode a seven, because there were some obvious problems with continuity and Claire's flashback. I think that everyone is just so happy that the beach folk are getting screen time, that they are over looking some errors in the show that would have otherwise made them angry. Had this episode aired earlier in the season or last season, I know a lot of individuals would have thought that Claire's flashback was slow and boring. Plus, the character of Claire isn't really a fan favorite, but you can't really tell that, judging by everyones posts in this thread and the "loved it" thread. I have nothing against the Claire character, but I don't think this episode should be getting the hype it's getting. SenatorKent 03-18-2007, 08:22 PM Claire's a fan favorite for this fan! lovelost4815162342 03-18-2007, 09:46 PM Claire's a fan favorite for this fan! hehe shes my second favorite. CHarlies firrst im afraid-my lil Brittish ex druggy wanna be rock star. But Shes so cool. Even better after Par Avion. Really showed an emotional side of her AND amazing acting! lockesmithe 03-19-2007, 01:00 PM I gave Par Avion a 9 out of 10 after watching the broadcast. I just rewatched the episode, and the 9 still holds up (9 by Lost standards). It was a very good episode. Had the writers not had Christian yelling about his daughter in Australia last season (merely yelling would have been good), then the flashback would have been much better. As it was, Claire being Christian's daughter garnered a big "duh" from me. I thought it was by far the weakest of Claire's flashbacks. The on-island Claire story was little more than a rehash of Charlie-Claire relationship (not the greatest picnic a man has ever thrown, but hey, at least it was better than Hurley's) combined with a Bernard-like rescue plan. Oh, and a little more Desmond-saving-Charlie action. Emilie did the best she could have with the material--she's a fine actress and it was nice seeing her get some screen time. What really stood out in this episode was the dialogue amongst the rescue party (and Mikhail). The lines were crisp and tense, reminding me of Season 1. The conversations, at times, had more than one level of meaning for some of the Losties. The ending was great. Seeing Jack sprinting away from the Others got the blood rushing. The expression on Kate's face after she sees Jack turn and catch the football was priceless. I hope Lost can continue to deliver this quality of episodes. Not that I'd stop watching Lost if the quality suffered a little. Not a chance that I would miss an episode--I'm hooked until the end. But episodes like this remind me of how I got hooked, and I like it. Next week's episode looks promising. Job well done. pibbsneaker 03-20-2007, 01:45 AM Seriously, does anybody ever give out anything other than a 9 or a 10? Every episode can't fall into either one. Even the worst episodes of Lost are much better than other shows, but I'm still giving them a 4 or 2 cause they just suck compared with some of the genuine 10s that the show has given us. DefenderOfMen 03-20-2007, 01:55 AM I gave it a 5. It was an okay episode. A little slow for my taste. The whole brain melting scene with Mikhael was almost rech inducing. DrUrbino 03-20-2007, 05:14 AM Right on, vote your your opinions, yet no one on this board should have to explain why they vote the way they do Pibbsneaker...especially to YOU! If you hate it, express yourself without insulting the TPTB and Moderators, Shippers, Apologists, and anybody else you all feel threatened by! Just some freindly advice.,,,That is kinda your deal. :) My Opinion....10 of 10...for the reason I have explained all over this board. I will not repeat myself...:) ..not just in this thread, the TB, and NOT only the LB, and the LJ, and YIM, but all over the place, which will tie my thoughts together, nicely! If not I don't care, people, should vote how ever they feel like voting! *Vote your hearts You All Everybody!* Zatherran 03-20-2007, 09:44 AM for once a show that doesnt treat it viewersv like they are stupid... you have to think, and mull over things.. when a show dominates a dinner conversation, or has you muttering to yourself while working.. that is great tv.. SenatorKent 03-20-2007, 05:30 PM Yeah I give episodes lower numbers. Something like Glass Ballerina I would give a 2 or 3 because I think Sun is weak and I don't enjoy her story. Something like Every Man for Himself was an Ok episode but not fantastic, id give it a 5 or 6. Stranger in a strange land, same thing. But an amazing episode with awesome moments, great acting, and beautiful Claire...10 all the way pogsklinc 03-21-2007, 03:38 PM I thought it was the best this season. :smilie14: LOCKE THE HATCH 03-22-2007, 04:23 PM whatever happens, i love lost. and nobody can take that away from me! par avion flies through! penyours 03-22-2007, 04:53 PM Oh man, I messed up my vote, I meant to give the epi an 8, but selected 4 instead. Curtainpuller 03-22-2007, 05:08 PM I really liked this episode. lowerstreet 03-23-2007, 04:38 AM I gave the episode a 9, for the killer ending. The search for the Others' settlement was the best part, and brought momentum to the show. The bird storyline was fine, and although the reveal of Claire's father was pretty predictable and some of the flashbacks weren't that engaging, I thought the final scene of Claire speaking to her mom was quite moving. lostinlaf 04-13-2007, 12:45 PM A very important episode. The_Valenzetti_Equation 04-15-2007, 05:54 PM Either the best or second best episode of the season. 9.499999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999. It's a 9 barely not a 10. :D The Loyal Oposition 04-23-2007, 10:51 AM I agree, it was one of the better episodes of season three. The ending was spectacular, Sayid was... there for a change and Claire displayed some of that attitude I love in her brother when she became the take charge pixie. I love her. Any episode that has John Terry in it is a good episode and this was no exception. The story actually progressed, the acting was great (I loved the Claire and Christian scenes and Claire with Charlie and Desmond) and Tom chasing Jack with a cigar in his mouth, trying to catch the football was hilarious. Even Kate was decent. Too bad it didn't last. freckles_shephard 06-02-2007, 07:10 AM I gave it a 8 great to finally see a Claire flashback again and the reveal that she and Jack are siblings were so cool. Cant wait for them to find out. Corey Chaos 06-17-2007, 10:47 PM This was the first episode of Lost I had seen, so as you can probably see...I was very lost! My brother Marshall had it DVR'd, and lucky for me, because my friend had told me to start watching Lost ASAP. When I first saw it, I remember being so confused, because I didn't know about the flashbacks, and I had no idea that the person in the flashback was Claire, because she had black hair. :s It was awesome, though. 10/10 thelizinator297 01-04-2008, 10:39 PM Such an exciting episode! I think it was really important to saving Charlie and Claire's relationship that they talked about Desmond (Dezzy...hehe). Also that fence which they had around the barracks was insane (I was so scared for Kate!)! Of course what really got me about this episode was the ending...crazy! I can't wait to keep watching! RipperJack 01-08-2008, 08:40 PM A key moment for the relationship of Claire and Charlie. Finding out that Claire and Jack are siblings. Another one of Dezzys flashes. And Mikhail got seizured by the fence....heheheheh Give this episode an 11! Pucus 02-23-2008, 12:06 AM I Loved it, although i had already had a suspision and heard a rumour about jack and claire being half brother and sister. |
