In the TV Guide interview (http://www.tvguide.com/News-Views/Columnists/Ask-Ausiello/default.aspx?posting={C39047D5-FB9F-4074-8B5D-C7AB3C0CCE3F})with Damon and Carlton, Damon says:

There are two bombs being dropped, one of which is a character bomb, and that will happen within the first three episodes after the break. And the other is a more significant story bomb, a game-changer, as it were, and that will happen shortly after.

So, was the character bomb that Damon is talking about Desmond's trip back into the past? Or was it Jack's seeming to be incorporated into Other society? Or was it Juliet's trial? Any theories?

Maybe he was talking about the Flame exploding.

Yeah, the character bomb was Desmond travelling in time. They confirmed that. I think it was in the podcast but it might have been an interview somewhere.

Don't know about the story bomb.

Yeah pretty sure about the Desmond thing. The story bomb is supposed to be something that will change a lot about what we think of the show. I think it may have something to do with time/time spent on the island.

Darlton also said that FBYE was laying groundwork for future bombs. And that there was huge coming our way or something to that effect.

Wow. Well, dang, so have we seen The Bomb or not yet? LOL!

I think the character bomb is in next week's episode...

There's been speculation for a long time that Jack and Claire are probably half siblings. The promos said we'll learn of a connection between 2 characters and it's a Claire-centric episode, featuring Christian Shepard.

If so many people hadn't already figured it out, it would definitely be a big bomb.

I agree and I think that disqualifies that as being a bomb.

I believe the bomb is yet to come, and is as follows:

We get a Pikki flashback in which we learn that they were sitting in the front section. The co-pilot survived and got out of the plane, revealed himself to be an Other and that the plane was intended to land on the island, but Desmond's failsafe caused it to crash instead. This is basically DarkUFO's theory (props) and he also said we'd find a runway on the island.

I could go with that apart from the fact that the co-pilot was dead - he fell out of the cockpit when Jack opened the door in the Pilot ..... didn't he?

TPTB have always said that there was a clue in the Pilot that nobody spotted.
I've always thought that the clue might be in the episode title. So maybe there could be a connection with either the pilot/co-pilot.

You are right about the co-pilot, so the theory might need a little adjusting.

As for the thing we missed, this occurred to me: The smoke monster behaves differently in the pilot episode than in any other encounter. Every other time we have seen the monster, it shows up only when people are nearby, and the only people it attacks are people it has previously "analyzed" (Eko and John). So, this leads me to believe that when the Losties heard the monster on that very first night, it was chasing/analyzing someone in the forest, possibly the pilot or possibly Pikki. As for the pilot himself, to fit Smokey's pattern of behavior it would have had to have seen and analyzed the pilot at some earlier date before killing him.

That's a good idea! I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see that happen.

Nope on the spoiler part.

There are pics up today about future episodes that deal with a revisit of the crash from the other characters perspective, and both Paulo and Nikki are there helping survivors. Doc Arnst is in there as well.

That's funny, b/c I would assume that the big bomb is coming up in two episodes: "The Man From Tallahassee," where according to Wikipedia We will learn how Locke was paralyzed.

OTOH you would think this would be a character bomb...unless it's going to be so important that it changes the story. Or maybe it means it won't be important at all. Or it wasn't the bomb they were talking about.

OTOOH Wikipedia also says Ben tries to persuade a determined Locke to call off his destructive plan by offering him some of the secrets of the island. So maybe that's it?

If it's neither of those, I'm sort of going to guess the story bomb was the line about "they were here long before us".

I'm just hoping that it's a little more than just that Christian Shepherd was Claire's father. If that's it I'm going to be really disappointed.:frown:

My guess? March 21. Make a big red circle around it on your calendars.

Why?

We now have promo pix for Eppy 12 (tomorrow's eppy), Eppy 14, and Eppy 15. Hey! Notice that I skipped a number! That's right--not ONE promo pix for Eppy 13, which airs on the 21st! You don't not post promo pix--unless ANY promo pix would give too much away! At least, that's how I'm seeing it!

have we seen yet, what s supposed to be the second big shock of this season?

AJHeuer
03-28-2007, 03:12 PM
I don't think so, but rumor and speculation suggests that it could come in tonight's Nikki/Paulo-centric episode.
By the way, what do you consider the "first big shock?" Desmond's (apparent) time travel? Locke's dad (maybe) being on the island?

TPTB have confirmed that the first shock concerned character, and it was Des' time travel.its official.so we know whats the first bomb.i think the second one is supposedly plotline-centric and its yet to come

I'm guessing the "story bomb" was old man Cooper being on the island.

I think the best way to hide something is in plain view. So, Damon said "story bomb..." and "game changer..."

No one has pointed out a bomb yet.

Like maybe an exploding, big splashy orange and yellow end-of-the-pier type bomb?

After that... Jack and Juliet, et al, couldn't leave the Island, leading them to be left behind. While Locke's allegiance is now (for a bit) to the Others, and he's migrated to who-knows-where with his new cult family. Juliet has new 'friends'...

You know, sometimes, a "story-bomb" is, well, a bomb.
And a game changer.

Locke blowing up the sub, which I still dont think he did, wasn't a game-changer. Locke causing the explosion at the comms station was also not a game-changer. Christian Shepard being Claire's father wasn't a game-changer...heck I didn't even flinch.

Whatever story-bomb we were told about, has yet to happen. Give it another few eps.

The Bomb, I would guess, is Cooper being on the island. According to the podcast, we have to wait until episode 19 to even see Locke again. It seems like they're pulling a Season One finale, make us wait all summer-ish thing with the revelation that Locke is much more connected to this island than we thought.
