very good episode! i totally dont trust juliet. but i loved the scenes with her and kate. totally awesome!
ventro 04-04-2007, 10:04 PM Excellent episode, though the direction was a tad ham-fisted. Loved the smokey scene.
The Shapeshifter 04-04-2007, 10:08 PM Great on-island stuff (although I agree, I don't trust Juliet as far as I could throw her), and I enjoyed Kate's flashback more than I expected, mainly because of the Cassidy cross.
And Hurley conning Sawyer! Best. Thing. Ever. \o/
Kate731 04-04-2007, 10:11 PM I thought this one was excellent too. I'm new here, so are we allowed to write things about the content of the episode before the US airing?
Jate48 04-04-2007, 10:16 PM I thought this one was excellent too. I'm new here, so are we allowed to write things about the content of the episode before the US airing?
Yes Kate731 you can, just probably best to keep it brief.
Kate731 04-04-2007, 10:22 PM Thanks Jate48 :)
I'm with the not trusting Juliet group. I really think there's a lot more to her character and motivations than we know. Plus, Sayid is always right.
I loved the Sawyer storyline. It was very cute, and Hurley conning him was excellent. I really didn't see that coming.
realityaxe 04-04-2007, 10:43 PM Good episode! The flashbacks helped form more interesting connections between the losties, Juliette is clearly up to something, Hurley conned the con man for the right reasons, John Locke is now that much closer to understanding the island and what it can do. What was with the convenient mud puddle so kate and juliette could look sexy? oh wait i think i answered my own question
whispervixen 04-04-2007, 11:41 PM I really enjoyed this ep, liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I liked Kate's friendship with Cassidy. Glad to see Cassidy had a bigger part in Kate's past than just randomly appearing in the background of her flashback! I was really hoping that Cassidy was Kate's sister though.
pacejunkie 04-05-2007, 12:11 AM I was surprised to find that I really liked this ep. I didn't think I would with the ridiculous girlfight preview. But I loved the flashbacks. The Cassidy/Kate friendship was great. I liked the connection with her mom and with Jack, how she thought she was helping them but they really didn't want her help and she screwed things up, possibly forever damaging their relationship. She never patched things up with her mother and now she's afraid she did the same thing with Jack.
Locke's betrayal blew me away. And I was totally surprised to find that Juliet had the key the whole time and knew about smokey and how to turn off the fence. I think Sayid is right not to trust her. She's after something.
I liked the Sawyer/Hurley B plot too. Nice parallel with the banishment theme and it kept it light. Sawyer's such a dork when he tries to play nice, it's really funny. Sun is not letting things go and I love how she keeps giving Sawyer the stink eye.
Overall really enjoyable.
wolffootball37 04-05-2007, 12:13 AM really liked tonights episode! Juliet and Kate were awsome! Great to have the monster back! Sawyer and hurley stuff was very funny, especially the stuff al the end, Hurley was literlay making me laugh out loud. Loved how Sawyer is trying to catch suns eye whyle hes doing something nice, but she wont look at him. Loved the flashbacks too. Kate and Cassidy were great, the mom stuff was good too. Next week looks even better! Pace i agree i didnt think i would like this either, but it really turned out great!
TheDome 04-05-2007, 12:14 AM After watching Juliet jack Kate up in like the second minute of the episode they could have shown 55 minutes of black screen, and I'd have still loved it. That was awesome.
I did enjoy the Juliet/Kate interactions however, and I liked the B-plot with Sawyer and Hurley.
rubyscarlett 04-05-2007, 12:15 AM It was a good solid episode. Set up everything nicely for the return to the beach and the smoke monster crashing into the fence was awesome!
Dezdmona 04-05-2007, 12:21 AM I thought it was a really good episode, I think that there is a lot of important information packed into this episode; but I'll have to re-watch it to soak it all in.
I was having to explain sooo much back story to my husband during the show, that I couldn't really absorb everything as it was playing. :undecide:
100%
the smoke monster crashing into the fence was awesome!
Loved that! :14happy:
Locke and Load 04-05-2007, 12:28 AM Overall I liked the episode. All the island scenes were great. Smokey fence slamming, Othersville abandonment, Kate dislocates Juliet's shoulder...
I couldn't stand the flashback though. For me, it was just unbearable. Yea so Clementine isn't a con, wow. On the whole all it was was way too many flashbacks to show that Kate's mom was pissed at her, which we already knew.
Otherwise though, good episode.
LostLaura 04-05-2007, 12:31 AM Really good episode. Smokey, the scanning and the fence were very, very cool and helped gained a little bit of insight into that part of the mythology.
From the preview, I thought the Kate/Juliet stuff would be horrible but it was actually really great and interesting and funny. The FB parallels were really good and not boring, thankfully. I like that we finally saw the play-out of the theory of Cass and Kate being friends. Now Cass *has* to be the letter writer from BTR!
The confusion about Juliet's loyalties is so great and Sayid was great.
Locke is horrible, but interesting plot.
Where the heck is Danielle? Alex? What's going on with them? I'm intrigued.....
Oh and the B plot was adorable. Hurley conning Sawyer, a little bit of Des, Sawyer being adorable with the baby and his hair pulled back.... Sun not forgiving Sawyer. Love it.
>Sobek< 04-05-2007, 12:36 AM Wonderful episode!
I loved the beach story. The Sawyer scenes were hilarious. I also liked Hurley talking about the "leaders" of the show, and it was cool to see Sawyer as a leader type, I never thought about that before.
Juliet and Kate was just amazing. I loved both of the characters, but together they are even better. And the monster was so cool- I wonder what those flashes were? Can't wait til next week!
Melissa 04-05-2007, 12:51 AM I loved this episode. Wasn't too crazy about the Kate flashback. I did enjoy Kate and Juliet in the jungle. I loved how Juliet was the one who (I'm assuming) brought Kate out there. She was the one who handcuffed herself to Kate to have her bring her back to the beach. Great twist. Also loved how she knew about the monster. Can't wait for next week's.
Loved the B plot. I had a feeling Hurley was conning Sawyer into being nice to everyone.
lockesmithe 04-05-2007, 12:51 AM Another good episode. I'm beginning to think that season 3 will surpass season 2. At first I thought this was going to be a "transition" episode, and while I still think it was a transition episode, the more I think of it, the more I like what happened in this episode.
I really liked the parallel between the flashbacks and the island story. At first, I thought Cassidy was going to con Kate or turn on her and turn her in for the money. Only at the end did it hit me that Cassidy was being sincere in her attempt to help her (is Juliet sincere about not wanting to be left behind a second time?). I'd like the next Kate flashback to flesh out the story behind Kate and the marshall, please.
The B story line was tolerable, and I'm wondering if this setting up Sawyer as "leader" will somehow lead to Sawyer being resentful of Jack returning to the throne. At least the writers found a way to include a lot of the sorely missed cast.
Kate and Juliet's time together was interesting, and it was a joy to watch these two actresses work together. Where'd old mousey Juliet learn to dodge and flip an adversary like she did to Kate? Not bad. Of course, just hearing Smokey got my blood flowing, and it was good to see him again. He has a bad habit of showing up and leaving me with more questions than answers, but it's always a pleasure seeing him. He seemed to do a heavy scan of Juliet--what was that all about. Of course, he appeared to come back for more, and the scene of Juliet getting past the fence in the nick of time was pretty exciting. I'd like to know what Juliet knows, but who can trust her?
Jack's frosty treatment of Kate was an interesting on-going development. And what the heck is Locke up to now?
I agree with those posters who have commented that this episode had a season 1 feel to it, and that a season 1 feel is a good thing. While I think season 3 started a little shakey, it certainly has picked up steam to the point to where I am already starting to worry about missing it after the season finale. That pretty much explains how I feel about this episode, and the direction Lost is heading. Good work.
dvd32355 04-05-2007, 01:20 AM Another great installment . Great story lines. And Now I know that the monster can't go over the others fence. Hmmmmm Interesting!!!! And I don't for a minute, believe that Juliet doesn't know what it is.Because they created the fence to keep it out!!!! Where will the story go now? I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ZoeWashburne 04-05-2007, 01:28 AM I don't trust Juliet at all, but I do find her character very interesting! I wasn't expecting her to flip Kate over like that in the beginning or to have the key to the handcuffs... She's a shifty one and I think Jack's trust in her is misplaced! But that should make for some good drama (and some jealous Kate, which is fun). Looking forward to next week!
The flashbacks were okay - not my favorite, but not terrible. It was neat to see Cassidy's influence on Kate and I love the marshall (even if only for a few seconds).
But I loved the B-story. Hurley is amazing - I was not expecting his con - good job!! And I'm also glad Sun hasn't forgiven Sawyer yet. Not the best of the season perhaps, but still a very solid episode!
pacejunkie 04-05-2007, 01:32 AM Another good episode. I'm beginning to think that season 3 will surpass season 2. At first I thought this was going to be a "transition" episode, and while I still think it was a transition episode, the more I think of it, the more I like what happened in this episode.
I already think this season has surpassed season two, and if Charlie lives, it may even surpass season one for me! I'm loving this season since the hiatus.
I liked the girlfirend quality they had. Two fellow criminals helping each other out because they have no one else to trust. Notice how Cassidy is the only one that Kate ever told her real name to?
The B story line was tolerable, and I'm wondering if this setting up Sawyer as "leader" will somehow lead to Sawyer being resentful of Jack returning to the throne. At least the writers found a way to include a lot of the sorely missed cast.
I recall the line from the Moth where Sawyer said, "The difference between us ain't that big." I think now that Hurley has put the idea in Sawyer's head, the idea of being the good leader like the doc will be intoxicating to him. I think Sawyer will get angry again when Jack returns and the beachies toss him aside for Jack's reluctant leadership once again. Add a confused Kate in the mix and it's going to get ugly.
Of course, he appeared to come back for more, and the scene of Juliet getting past the fence in the nick of time was pretty exciting. I'd like to know what Juliet knows, but who can trust her?
What's interesting is that we know the Others are pretty bad even though they think they're good. Living where they do they probably haven't had too many close encounters with Smokey. Smokey may want to eat Juliet for lunch once it sees that she's not as good as she thinks she is. I think any Other that meets Smokey is in for a heap of trouble.
Jack's frosty treatment of Kate was an interesting on-going development. And what the heck is Locke up to now?
I'm wondering when we'll see Locke again and with whom.
lostgurl 04-05-2007, 01:39 AM The main reason I loved this episode is because of smokey. Kate and Juliet were great together. Juliet seems evil, I still cannot believe anything she says. Hurley and Sawyer are hilarious. I'm glad Sun was there to knock Sawyer back down a few pegs.
Why was Desmond all gloomy the whole episode?
I don't like Cassidy.
ANTIDEAD 04-05-2007, 01:46 AM After seeing the preview for this episode last week I expected this episode to be a let down. Turned out to be a very good ep, Locke is mysterious again, the monster is back, the beach plot was great, even Kate's flashback was entertaining. All that plus it moved the storyline along and shed some new light on the others. Much better than most of season 2, I'd say.
Cardielost 04-05-2007, 02:06 AM Hurley's con of Sawyer was one of many being set up here. I think the Others' departure was a bit of theatre to get Juliet ensconced at the beach. She was expertly sowing seeds of doubt about Jack's feelings for Kate (which moody Jack certainly didn't help) so she can wrap him around her little finger and do whatever she and Ben have cooked up. And who knows what Locke is thinking or if he plans to play the Others as the Island's right hand man. Clearly if he can get them out into Smokey's territory, there's going to be a lot of attrition. Smokey was so going to pulverize Juliet after "reading" her.
I loved the symmetry of the fb having Sawyer's former and future lovers balanced by having Jack's past and future on-island flames bonding in the jungle. Even if Kate's mom was crazy to excuse Wayne and still love him, I thought Kate needed to hear that she cold-bloodedly burned a man alive--not that she heroically rescued her Mom. And we already know that wasn't her real motive anyway.

outta_control 04-05-2007, 02:08 AM Great episode!
pacejunkie 04-05-2007, 02:15 AM I forgot to mention I loved the musical montage. Another reminder of the happy beach family that's about to be upset by Jack's return with Juliet. They even made more overtures to include Desmond in the group finally. It perfectly paralleled what Hurley said about everyone being happy for a day before realizing they're all screwed. I think there's big trouble afoot.
vangelicmonk 04-05-2007, 03:16 AM Rated an 8. So it's in the Love category.
CountChocula 04-05-2007, 03:19 AM Interesting analogies:
Cassidy = Juliet (each left behind / betrayed by someone)
Jack = Kate's mother (Kate tried to help each, but it backfired)
Thank god they're not showing more scenes of Sayid being tortured!
Usually Kate's flashbacks are poor, but this was all right. I don't think we need any more Kate flashbacks after this, however. Her flashbacks have officially run their course.
The first few episodes of this season were sub-par (culminating in the Jack in Thailand episode -- the worst of the whole series). But the writers have done a much better job since then. Does anyone know what happened and how they managed to "right the ship"?
Wonderful episode! I really liked the flashback story, Cassidy is a great character. I wonder if Kate's known all along about Sawyer's relationship with Cassidy. The on-island stuff was great as well. I wish Jack wouldn't trust Juliet, I sure don't. A lot to think about...good job!
No kool-aid for me John-John 04-05-2007, 03:26 AM Hurley's con of Sawyer was one of many being set up here. Cardie
Nice pick up on the possible game Juliet might be playing with Jack. Removing his stronger relationships so that she can have a stronger voice when it comes to some future decisions. And on Smokey, yes, that thing must have 'read' somthing really dark. Maybe she isnt 'redeemable' as well. Which is a scary thought, since shes going to be right back in the camp. Another Ben manipulating our survivors story? But this time its Juliet?
And damn, they must be really setting Sawyer up for a really dark turn now. They always get him to a 'nicer' persona and then have him plummet downwards into darkness. And considering how thick the 'Happy-Go-Lucky-Sawyer' plot is going, he must be headed for a very dark fall soon. I'll be looking forward to that.
lost168 04-05-2007, 04:02 AM I'm surprised that very few mentioned that Locke pretty much banishing the other Losties.
CountChocula 04-05-2007, 05:14 AM Loved it -- just wish they'd followed up on Locke's father..................
thedaveeyres 04-05-2007, 07:25 AM Really cool Ep - loads of new information... loved it!
lostlocke 04-05-2007, 09:05 AM Cool flashbacks. That's an important part of an episode. Great scenes between Hurley and Sawyer, I really enjoyed them. All in all it was a good episode.
wanders01 04-05-2007, 09:06 AM Smokey was back and it seems with some new interaction.....I got the feeling this was the firsttime he had been able to scan Juliet. Now as to what he found...ahh I don't know but he did seem to come back after them with a vengence...all in all a satisfing epi.
UncleHenry 04-05-2007, 10:43 AM I'm amazed! This was the only Kate flashback that I really liked! In fact, this flashback gave more insight into her character than any of the other previous Kate episodes.
Loved the scene at the beginning with Locke and Kate...Locke hasn't been that eerie since the beginning of season one, when we really didn't know anything about him. I was surprised that Locke leaving with the Others created a such a feeling of menace and uncertainty.
I'm also in the suspicious of Juliet category. Juliet drags an unconscious Kate into the jungle so they can bond while handcuffed? Jack is nuts to invite her back to camp.
Most of all, i love that LOST now has forward momentum again!
scarletdawn24 04-05-2007, 11:10 AM best show in awhile. it seems like all the shows this season have either been about the others or the losties but not both. last night it showed what was happening with all the losties at least. loved the whole hurley and sawyer thing. and the insight we got on kate. her thing is to help people even when they dont want it. this whole thing is definately about people coming to terms with their issues.
Simplist 04-05-2007, 01:23 PM Best Episode In Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trevski 04-05-2007, 01:24 PM Kate....Juliet....mud.....what's not to like?!
Actually I have my criticisms of this episode but this was enjoyable if slightly too fragmented in places. The transitions could have been better handled in order to create more ebb and sway in the excitement dept.
Helen_ 04-05-2007, 01:51 PM What a wonderful episode, I loved it a lot! All Kate's episodes are among my favourite. This one was so emotional, interesting, funny (Sawyer was awesome!:) ) and exciting.
sandleford 04-05-2007, 02:13 PM Though I'm really getting tired of the Others and their endless levels of deception, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. That was some of the best "smokey" action in the series. Even though it didn't tell us anything revelatory, I liked Kate's flashback too. It was a nice connection to have her and Cassidy work together.
The back and forth between her and Juliet was well acted, but I felt Juliet was lying through her teeth the entire time. She's pushing Ben around in his wheelchair one day with (a promised trip off the island), then the next day she's been gassed and handcuffed....:undecide: I don't think so. I'm with Sayid on this one, she's one of them.
sjb121590 04-05-2007, 02:21 PM After reading the "Didn't Like it Thread" and seeing people bash it for odd reasons, it's nice to go in here where I find people that agree with me.
I loved this eppy. The on-island action was great. And I have to say I trust Juliet. Sure, I know people are saying that this one is for the guys, but it exciting. The action was good, the storyline was good, the flashback was good. I loved this entire episode. It was amazing.
ame en peine 04-05-2007, 02:24 PM Another great episode. The con theme ran straight through, so at this point most of the major players are suspect. I love that, and trying to figure out who the baddies are.
Locke is very intriguing to me now (more so than ever anyway..). Juliet showed additional layers of deception. Kate and Cassidy backstories were wonderful.. Really not sure if we can trust Jack. Sawyer/Hurley interaction was hilarious yet moving. And Smokey's turning into a major player, with a personality all his own. Loved it!
I enjoyed this episode. Not a classic, but it's at the stage of the season where we're just ticking along until the final few episodes really (setting up the finale), so it's understandable. I thoroughly enjoyed the Kate/Juliet scenes, a great new (in this enviroment anyway) dynamic. The Smokey scenes were superb, and Juliet seemed genuinly terrified of it. It would appear that although the Others know about Smokey, they haven't a clue what it is. Which pretty much kills the theory that the Others control it, which is nice from my viewpoint. Unless of course Juliet was lying, but who can tell?
The flashback was a little poor. Kate's off-island story just doesn't interest me much. She's on the run, we get it. The main problem here, I believe, is we know she did it, we know why she did it, and we know she gets caught. There's really nowehere to go with it. It's like watching an M. Night Shyamalan (sp?) movie, already knowing the twist. The content is ok, but it doesn't hold up when we know it's just padding. I really wish we could see a pre-Wayne hating Kate (I'm not too informed on her back-story, but there has to be something to show that isn't all about him), to gives us a little character development.
The B-story was ok. Nice to see Hurley conning Sawyer, but it was a little too obvious. Especially when Sawyer spoke with Charlie. The second he went to mention the "vote", I don't think there would have been a single viewer who didn't click what was going on. Having said that, the scenes were nicely played, and it kept us "updated" on the beach goings-on. I do enjoy Sawyer in his comedy roles. He's defiantly at his best as the cool kid forced to hang out with Hurley and co.
The ending was not something I enjoyed too much either. Sayid seemed determined Juliet would not join them, but then backed down when Jack said so, which was a little out of character. The scene felt unecesary really, and the scene with Juliet, Kate and Smokey would've been a better ending in my view. Although I suppose this was required information, and wouldn't have fit in at the start of next weeks (unless the party spent the entire episode hiking back to the beach, of course, and who wants to see that [again]?)
Wow, this post has been quite negative so far for a "Loved It" response. Overall I'd say the Kate/Juliet scenes where up there with the best of them, and the rest was just standard. And the episode gave us a couple of extra bits of information, which was nice. As a piece of television, it was slightly worse than last weeks, but as a part of a series, I enjoyed it. 7/10, and left me looking forward to next week's more than anything.
Siobhan 04-05-2007, 03:55 PM Very solid episode. I liked the Kate/Juliet Kate/Cassidy parallels. Smokey was awesome. Sawyer and Hurley a bit obvious but fun anyway.
MarkKligman 04-05-2007, 05:58 PM excellent episode!!! i loved it, this may have been my favorite of the season. loved the flashback, love juliet and kate interacting, love sawyer being good, love sun giving the death stare, love sayid showing up at the end and laying down the law,
dont love having to wait another week to hopefully find out whats going down with locke!!!!
I loved it. Some interesting bits of info where revealed, and some questions also to ask about later.
I really liked that Sawyer wasnt a bad guy for one episode. Hurley's con was great. I would have liked more Jack and Locke, but thats just a personal preference.
The story surrounding Juliet and Kate was interesting enough, that occasionally chimeing in on other characters wasnt needed.
Way better than expose. Not much was revealed in that episode, and this episode was completely opposite.
Heidi 04-05-2007, 06:48 PM I really enjoyed it.
Loved the Smokey scenes. He's rapidly becoming my favorite character. I think that Juliet is lying about how much the Others really know about him. I think that Sayid is right to be suspicious of Juliet; he's a good judge of character.
Loved Kate and Cassidy's bonding.
Loved Hurley conning Sawyer. Loved how Sun isn't ready to let Sawyer off the hook.
see kate run 04-05-2007, 07:10 PM I must say I really enjoyed this episode too ! I loved the scene with Locke and Kate. I also loved Kate and Juliet's smack~down in the jungle..lol. And I was excited to see that the sonic barrier is there to keep Smokey out ! Oh and I definitly LOVED Hurley conning Sawyer !!! That was great ! Boy, he even fooled me !
netduo 04-05-2007, 07:14 PM givng sawyer the stinkeye...teehee! (Thanks Pacejunkie, that was great!!!!!) and yes, sawyer is a dork when he's good...
Maxum 04-05-2007, 09:57 PM I really liked this episode too.
I loved the Juliet and Kate interaction. Those are two kick-butt women, and it's nice to see that on a television show.
Seeing Mr. Smokie is always great, and I'm intrigued by the "flashes" of light it took of Juliet. What was that about?
I didn't see any coldness towards Kate from Jack. Heck, he just had an emotional scene with her the day before. His hopes of getting off the island to bring back a rescue was literally blown to hell by Locke, and he felt a bit defeated. I never saw him take out any anger against Kate. I thought their scene together was very credible. Jack acted exactly the way someone who's been through what he's been through (physically, psychologically and emotionally) would react. In the end, when he tried to stand up, Kate rushed to help him, and he accepted her help. No problem.
I thought the Hurley / Sawyer scene was just okay. I do enjoy anything that happens on the beach with all the Losties, however.
Locke is pretty much becoming what I expected, although there's enough mystery to still keep me guessing, which is why I love this show so much.
As for Juliet, I don't trust her, and I don't think anyone does, including Jack. Just because she's coming back to the beach doesn't mean that he's lowering his guard. It's smarter to bring her with them to pick her brain about what she knows rather than leave her behind. It's also smart to keep your eye on someone who may have an agenda.
Overall, a really great episode.
Another ep that had the feel of "old Lost". Very pleased.
Locke--wow, we're really *not* going to see him for a while, are we? (Well, for a few weeks, let's say...) And I thought I was imagining it...heh heh.
I finally realized how the "jungle" was going to "rumble" right before the episode. I knew something was a little off about it; just took me a while to put my finger on it. So sneaky, TPTB ;) And everyone was complaining about it last week...
Nice Close Encounters ref, I assume.
Hurley: nice to see him once again in classic character mode.
These have really been some strong episodes. It all seems headed in a really good direction. At this point I think TPTB should stop listening to us. If they haven't already ;)
jacknkate1 04-05-2007, 10:38 PM I really liked this episode too.

AMEN to like...your entire post. Loved this ep for the exact same reasons. Juliet and Kate have such an interesting dynamic and I can't wait to see more interaction between them.
Smokey and the fence was very cool!
And yes I totally agree with you about Jack. He was definitely not cold to her. Maybe a little distant and disoriented, but can you blame him? He was abruptly awoken and Kate laid a ton of information on him and then started apologizing. I think he was a little caught of guard and as you said feeling very physically and emotionally defeated. If he was going to be cold he definitely would not have accepted her help.
As for trusting Juliet I totally want to trust her because I LOVE her character but this is Lost, lol. I don't think Jack completely trusts her motives but he would never leave her behind. I'm more interested to see how this affects the Losties when they get back. Obviously Sayid doesnt trust her, and Kate is not too fond of her either.....Sawyer won't have much good to say about her either, so it should be fun!
And Locke is still a bit of a mystery. He's not the only lostie that doesnt want off the island but he's the only one to go to such lengths to stay.
ETA: How could I forget Sun's death glare of doom???? I loved it!
ToKyO 04-05-2007, 10:54 PM I didn't "love" the episode...but I really liked it..lol
I am glad they got back to the good kind of comedy they missed last episode..and I thought the stories were really good. And I was having monster withdraws...so I am glad they gave me my fix. Good episode.
8/10
Lady EKO 04-05-2007, 11:48 PM I give it a 9...everyone has covered the reasons why it was good. I would give it a 10 but I really dislike Kate and it would have been perfect if it was less of her.
I have to say, that Juliet is one tough chica! I've never dislocated anything and I sure don't want to *knocks on wood.:59:
tuesdaymorning 04-06-2007, 12:01 AM I really liked this episode. It made it easier to hate Juliet and easier to like Sawyer. But my frustration with Jack (and his bringing-along of Juliet, basically choosing her over everybody else, even though Sayid -- who is brilliant and is usually right -- opposes). I just wish we'll find out soon whether or not we can trust Juliet, because as she said, Ben likes to play mind games, and maybe she plays a part in it somehow.
andy_candy 04-06-2007, 12:58 AM After an obnoxious & downright distasteful Pikki episode this was a good one. I wasnt disappointed. Many plot-holes & irrational behavior on part of our protagonists, but I have come to accept that by now.
Over all a comparatively good episode.
Thats all.
ravenmoon 04-06-2007, 10:06 AM After that rediculous promo I was really dreading this episode to being more triangle tripe, but I was actually really p;eatently suprised! I've been on holiday all week but luckily my friend recorded it for me and I got to watch it really late last night when I got home.
I laughed my *** off with the sawyer trying to make "make nice" scenes. His scene with Claire was priceless, "your baby looks erm, less wrinkly than it did before" bless him her really is totally clueless on how to be nice to people isn;t he. Makes me sad for him even more though that he really has no idea how to have nice conversation with people. And when hurley asked him to apologize for calling him all those names, and sawyer said "you're worse than a girl." I was sitting on my sofa wwatching it on my laptop with headphones in and kept laughing out loud and my house mates kept looking at me wierdly!
I also loved the end bit where hurley said everyone wanted ot look to him as a leader, because as a massive fan of sawyers character, I have always thought that so much of his resentment towards jack right back from s1 was that deep deep deep deep down he would love to have that kind of respect, to be the hero and even if its momentarily, I loved Hurley for giving that to him. But this also should be interesting because when jaxck rteturns with an other in tow, are the rest of the losties going to welcome jack back as leader with open arms? I doubt it. Sayid has in ways always been dubious about jack's leadership, and is even more so now hes bringing back an other, so this episode makes me wonder if they're setting up any kind of show down between jack and sawyer, which would be awsome as those two havent has a scene together this season and I think one of the main draweback of the dreded trinmagle is that sawyer/jack interactions are often excellant!
The kate and juliet interaction wern't as bad as I thought, and some of their dynamic was quite cool.
It was awsome that we had an old style kate fllashback, not about her dads or her husbands/boyfriends and therefore people associating this with the triangle. Her friendship with Cassidy was excellant, and I really enjoyed it,
Overall I left this episode with a really awsome feeling, and I can't wait to watch it again, and there have only been a handful of episodes this season I;ve felt I can watch over again!
EkoJunior 04-06-2007, 05:18 PM I gave it an 8, mostly because episodes like 'The Man From Tallahassee" and "Flashes Before Your Eyes" deserve the coveted 10 rating - in my own opinion.
Love Kate as a character and always look forward to her her flashbacks 'cause they always feel like character studies.
talliann 04-07-2007, 12:05 AM Didn't hate the episode but didn't love it either.
Andok 04-07-2007, 04:03 AM Loved it. Thought this show did more to advance things than any so far this season.
1. Jack is "rescued"
2. A new lostie is added without it being somone totally random from the beach. (Juliette is now a lostie, whether anyone likes it or not)
3. Locke has joined the others for reasons yet unknown
4.Hurley has proved he can con a conman.
5. Sawyer changing his tune and being somewhat nice (Due to a con, but even after that he seemed to accept it)
6. Kate discovered Jack saw her and Sawyer, and it was (IMO) Jack that she really loved.
7. Smokey doesn't like sonic defense fences.
8. The underground tunnels from the map may come into play now
9.There are still boar left on the island. (When was last time they had meat? Season 1?)
10. 3 words- Female mud wrestling a new form of entertainment along with VW Van joyriding, golf and ping-pong.
redmaria 04-07-2007, 07:01 AM jUST FINISHED WATCHING IT.pardon the caps but im really thrilled!yeah,it was one of the best episodes of lost so far, even if Kate isnt on my top list neither is Juliet. But the comedy stuff between Sawyer and Hurley was top notch. It included some of the funniest dialogues in lost ever.(Dharma A1 and paprika???hahahaha)Damon did his thing again!!!alongside of course Elisabeth Sarnoff!the tension between Juliet and Kate was stunning too.and we got to see smokie again!Jack at the end,was really changed. He didnt even cry watching Kate.i mean, things are so different!!!im so thrilled!!!guys, this is trully one of the best Lost episodes!im really happy were back to the good stuff!!!Yippie Ki Yay!!!!hahahaa!

loved it!
evanesco75 04-09-2007, 03:34 AM Loved it! Great interaction and tension between Kate and Juliet... my favorite moments had to be Juliet's assertion that Kate had broken Jack's heart, the Monster moment and the realisation that Juliet had the keys all along! Quite sad, really, her fear of being abandoned again.... I thought Kate displayed a lot of fire, and also a certain degree of compassion in this one... I liked the fact that even though she was mad as hell, she wasn't unneccessarily cruel to Juliet... ya, she kicked butt when she needed to, but who wouldn't?
Yay, Jack and Sayid are rescued! I liked the moment between them during the end, regarding Juliet, who is FIRMLY under Jack's protection now. Is he being naive, by trusting her fully? We'll see, I reckon. But I wouldn't be surprised if Juliet betrays him or the Losties somehow... that woman's an enigma.
Locke!!!! My God! Knew he'd turn, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite so soon. Then again, he has an agenda (Dad) and he never really felt like part of a big, happy group; he's always been more of a self reliant operator, hasn't he? The bit when he spoke about how he'd tried to convince Ben etc that Kate was 'good', only to be told what she'd done, which made him change his mind... man! I wanted to smack him: how condescending! As though he was always an angel or something!
Poor Kate... I really felt for her in this one. SHe tried to help her mum, only to have her turn on her. Granted, murdering the man her mum loved wasn't exactly a great plan, but Kate honestly thought she was doing it to help. Which was exactly what she did when she went back for Jack; she inadvertently ruined his escape plan by returning, and the bit where she sobbed and apologized to him was some of the best acting in Lost yet! Really heartbreaking, and revealing in a sense: in her own way, and despite employing some pretty questionable methods, Kate also has a 'saving people' thing, doesn't she? First her mum; even the Aussie farmer she worked for (telling the Marshall to make sure he got the reward), and now Jack. His preoccupation with Juliet had to hurt at that moment!
Part of me feels Jack's just hurt, and that's why he's being a bit cold to Kate... especially after their meeting in TMFT and the bit where he spoke about how she convinced him to do the surgery for Sawyer.... but he also appears genuinely interested in Juliet, and they do have a kind of bond.
Sawyer vs. Hurley was brilliant! I just loved their interaction, and my husband actually called it long before it was revealed that Hurley'd been playing him. But wasn't Sawyer just too cute in this one? His face when he offered Claire the blanket!!! Lol! I was in stitches. And then his hunting trip with dear Des, who called him on it straightaway: "you haven't said three words to me, and now you want to be my hunting partner?"
Sawyer clearly wants a shot at being leader; he looked rather flattered when Hurley explained that to him. But he won't get the Korean vote anyway, and besides, Jack'll be back soon enough. I wonder whether there will be a tussle of sorts between him and Sayid... my vote would be with Sayid for leader. I love Jack, but Sayid wins hands down when it comes to clarity, strategy, and nearly everything else a leader should have. He's the best choice for the job.
Enough rambling; I'll just rate the epi 10/10.
damnthatracoon 04-09-2007, 06:16 AM Great episode! I still can't believe Jack trusts Juliet, at least Sayid, and Kate, have some brains. Loved the Sawyer/Hurley thing
Maalstrom Aran 04-09-2007, 01:55 PM I thought this was a pretty good episode. I wish the discussion concerning smokey was a bit more revealing, however this scene did prove we can't trust Juliet. Not to mention her having the keys to the cuffs.
I was very happy with Hurly's efforts with Sawyer. Hurly is one of the biggest instigators on the island and I love him for it.
Good character development and the episode flows well into the conflicts between characters in the next episode. I suspect that Sayid will not be happy with Juliet's answers and a possible rift could form, forcing Jack and Juliet to feel like outsiders.
The camp will not be peaceful.
I suspect that smokey is going to be busy until the end of the season.
G33K3Z01D 04-09-2007, 02:26 PM Another great episode. And goes to show that anyone who thinks this show isn't good anymore is an idiot.
WomanJate 04-10-2007, 01:52 AM I love this episode!
The Kate´s flashback was great!! Her relation with Cassidy is fantastic!!
The moment that Kate said "I´m sorry" to Jack is very emotional!! She said this for some more that her breack that Jack go on the islad. She love him!
Juliet and Kate for the jungle is wonderful!! I would that they have more scenes together.
Sawyer is very very funny!!!! He is the "bad boy comic". I think abaut He and Juliet make a good couple!! What think abaut this?
Congratulations Evangeline Lilly for you action in this episode!! It was exelent!!!
(Sorry for my english people!!! Not is my original lenguaje)
hoggle75 04-10-2007, 08:23 PM Great episode! Glad to see the change in Jack's attitude towards Kate is more prominent. Don't fully trust Juliet, but am excited about the information she can provide!
lovelost4815162342 04-11-2007, 12:23 AM I loved it too! But it wasnt as good as the past few, but those were all AMAZING! But i really enjoyed the juliet-kate interaction...will this be turning into a love SQUARE!!!??? haha hope not!
featsfanbob 04-11-2007, 02:15 PM And we already know that wasn't her real motive anyway.
Cardie
I agree that this was an excellent episode and that the Others purposely left Juliet behind to get another spy amongst the Losties. She's definitely not to be trusted. I can't figure out, though, if Smokey was after Kate or Juliet (probably Juliet, since it obviously scanned her).
Please excuse my empty-headedness, but what WAS Kate's real motive for burning her stepdad alive?
Auron 04-11-2007, 02:29 PM another good episode...Jack has two lovely women fighting over him!!
lucky bugger
there's going to be tension when the losties see an other walk into thier camp...
jheri 04-12-2007, 10:35 PM Loved it! I always like to see Hurley and Sawyer together. They have a good relationship that I'm having a hard time putting into words, but I like them together. Kate's flash back was good too. I enjoyed the episode very much.
