rubyscarlett 04-26-2007, 12:06 AM Solid episode. Nice how the story on the island with Sun dovetailed nicely with the flashback and how Jin's paternity was up in the air.
BillToons 04-26-2007, 12:12 AM I loved it. The Mikhail (sp?) coming back to life. The fact that they are all presumed (i say presumed) dead. Of course Jin is the daddy and the others are hell bent on pregnant women and Juliet is unwillingly complicit.
GettinLost 04-26-2007, 12:14 AM Thought it was a Great episode! I always like the Sun/Jin stories!! And I just LOVE Jin's father! The Actor who plays him is WONDERFUL!!
TheDome 04-26-2007, 12:16 AM Angry Charlie and Kungfu Jin? Sounds like a winner to me. Great episode.
TheBeastIsMe 04-26-2007, 12:21 AM I thought it was excellent, and if the final 3 are even on par with this, my head will explode.
Mikhail is alive? I am very curious how they're gonna 'splain this one...
I've never been a huge Sun and Jin fan, but this eppy made me do a 180. Go Mama & Papa Bear!
Kate singled out for medical sampling? Did the Other's plan our little Skater Love Connection after all?
And, I always kick myself for peeking on the spoiler thread, but darned if the last 30 seconds didn't make my heart flutter just a bit, after hearing it! Best ending since Two for the Road.
Bravo, and a special thumbs up to Frederick E.O. Toye [episode director] and his cinematographer this week as well. LOST hasn't looked this good in a while, in all senses of the word.
lockesmithe 04-26-2007, 12:47 AM It's funny--over the past two seasons, I have not looked forward to the Sun/Jin episodes. However, each time I have really enjoyed their flashbacks. I think Sun/Jin have had the most consistently interesting flashbacks of all the Losties, yet I tend to forget this in between the flashbacks.
The Sun/Jin flashbacks have three things going for them. First, I think, the actors portraying them are quite good. Next is the fact that you have the story line of the daughter of a powerful and corrupt industrialist marrying someone below her social status. And finally, it's just interesting to see another culture in flashbacks. I think this flashback eclipsed the action on the island for me.....a rare Lost occasion. One more thing, Sun is a good-looking woman, but she was absolutely beautiful in the flashbacks.
The island action was decent, and it had a couple of WTF moments. Oh, and a gory scene. Enough to maintain my interest until another flashback popped up. The DOC action was rather drawn out, but I'll give the writers a pass on that because I was spoiled for this episode. I watched this with two other Lost fans, and they both thought that Jin was NOT going to be the father. So the suspense worked for them, my unspoiled friends.
The ending will give rise or give ammunition to many a theory. What to make of that?
It's odd--I think Lost is the only show I ever watched where I feel good when the actors get a chance to show up on the screen. I don't mean that I just enjoy seeing the various characters they portray; I actually feel happy when I see the actors get some precious screen time. And I was happy to see Yunjin and Daniel get much deserved screen time tonight. Job well done.
care_n_jim 04-26-2007, 01:01 AM GREAT Epi I loved it - but now I can't sleep because I can't stop thinking about NO SURVIVORS!
I love it! My heart was pounding and I was like RUN Sun Run - and the I HATE YOU - like a child to a parent when told to do something they don't want to but know they have to and that it is the right thing to do - now the big question is it the right thing to do!
Great job AS ALWAYS!
Save The Humans 04-26-2007, 01:02 AM Angry Charlie and Kungfu Jin? Sounds like a winner to me.
Seconded!
Yunjin Kim ROCKS!!
I'm sure Sun is thinking that the two-months-till-death sentence is her punishment for all the lies, and for getting Jin into the mess he was in with Daddy Paik.
I'm really getting Daddy Paik's past FB frustration with her. His precious (lying, spoiled, irresponsible, affair-having) little princess. . . .
LostLaura 04-26-2007, 01:08 AM This was a great episode. A good FB, really solid and actually told us new, interesting information. The bombshell about Sun causing Jin to be a henchman is huge and so sad. I feel so sad for their relationship. Lies upon lies upon lies. How sad.
Sun going on a little trek is fun, and it's exciting that her storyline is so scary and interesting now.
The whole plot with the parachutist is awesome. Jin, Charlie and Hurley were all awesome in those scenes. I was frustrated by Des, though.
And Mikhail's surprise return was AWESOME.
care_n_jim 04-26-2007, 01:10 AM Did your jaw hit the floor when Patchy showed up - I was like WHAT --
I almost woke the kids up!
dvd32355 04-26-2007, 01:18 AM Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
Guinevere 04-26-2007, 01:56 AM I thought it was a great episode that answered some questions and also showed how a chain of seemingly unrelated events can snowball and also left us with huge questions. Sun and Jin's story always have a poignancy that some of the others stories lack at times. I love that they write her as a strong woman who feels like she has to suppress her strengths in order to get the outcome she wants. I think a lot of women relate to that. I love how Jin loves her and how she really loves him at the end of the day. She's made terrible mistakes but she's also done good things so I think there's a balance in her character and she does try to learn from her past somewhat.
The scenes in the jungle with the "Campers", Mikhail and the parachutist were intriguing, fun and action filled. It seems everyone on that trek has found their voice and feels strong enough to ask questions whereas in the past, Hurley and Charlie kind of went along for the ride even to their detriment and Jin couldn't understand what was going on.
As usual, the writers left us on the edge of our seats. Way to go! :clapping:
outta_control 04-26-2007, 02:01 AM Amazing episode with an insane ending! What the heck does it mean? The plane was found? Need to tune in next week for sure. Lost always gets great when we near the season finale!!!
wolffootball37 04-26-2007, 02:08 AM Great episode!!! keep it up!!!
Baileysdad 04-26-2007, 02:09 AM Amazing with Patchy showing up....Sun DEMANDING answers and getting some...and that ending...WOW! Amazing. That alone made this a great epi.
The_Valenzetti_Equation 04-26-2007, 03:12 AM Mikhail is alive
Jin's father could be someone else
Jin is the father
Juliet still does hate Ben
KATE IS PREGNANT
Jin's mother is a jerk
They're all dead...or something
This episode was totally excellent, ten out of ten. Much better than last week's disappointment. I'm very very glad to see 16 posts here and only 1 post(the usual suspect mind you) in the didn't love it thread.
Fishy76 04-26-2007, 03:13 AM When that girl said that there were no survivors.. I was like no waaaaaay!! Can't wait to see next week's episode!
saratoga 04-26-2007, 03:17 AM Holy shit. I LOVE this show.
DrUrbino 04-26-2007, 03:35 AM Absolutely loved it...Can't wait until next week. :)
ventro 04-26-2007, 03:39 AM I'm gonna go ahead and say it.
Season 3 > Season 1
vangelicmonk 04-26-2007, 03:40 AM I thought this was excellent. Most people don't like the Sun Jin flash backs (I love them). But this one was balanced by the other story lines coming together with it. Juliet, Desmond, etc. Some questions answered.
CountChocula 04-26-2007, 03:48 AM I'm gonna go ahead and say it.
Season 3 > Season 1
I generally liked the episode, but the above statement is wrong.
I have friends who stopped watching during season 3, especially after that disaster which was the first six episodes.
adr55555 04-26-2007, 04:01 AM Awesome!!!! For the viewers who gave up, it's time to come back!!!
GoddessDictator 04-26-2007, 04:40 AM This is only my second post, but I'll say this. I loved it. My favorite ep this season is still One of Us, but damn, that was a fun ride. And i'm a Soon and Jin fan.
thedaveeyres 04-26-2007, 07:30 AM AWesome ep. Sun and Jin are brilliant in their scenes together. Great acting all round tonight - even down to MF's cameo.
For me, the only weak spot in terms of acting ability is Kate - she is often a bit wooden and doesn't hit the right notes. But it's a minor gripe, I think we saw last week (in the tent scene) why TPTB have Evangeline in the show.
TheBeastIsMe 04-26-2007, 08:08 AM I'm gonna go ahead and say it.
Season 3 > Season 1
I second that emotion.
lostlocke 04-26-2007, 08:54 AM How can you not love ANY episode of lost?!!! I love them all. This episode was pretty cool. Although more questions were asked than answered once again!! I'm so glad that Jin is the father of the baby. However what about Mikhail being alive and about what the girl said at the end?! Those things boggle the mind and the writers like torturing us!!
I thought this was a superb episode. I won't go as far as saying the season's best, but it's defiantely up there. The only real problem I had with this episode was the pacing seemed a little askew. Although a slow build up to the revelations (and they were bloody good revelations) at the end is obviously how you'd expect this episode to work, the first 2/3 seemed too slow for me, and I fully expected the episode to fizzle out. It didn't though, so I'm happy.
Although I've never been a fan of the Jin/Sun storyline (I think I figured out why too, Jin is essentially a flashback character who happens to be on the island. It's Sun flashback really, and as a guy, I feel less connected to them as a couple because of this), this one was extremely well made. There have been a few flashbacks this season that were unimportant, and even dull, but this one was one of my favourites. Yunjin Kim was fanastic, and really made me sympathize for her, while previously I had felt disconnected.
I liked Juliet again today. I think most would say although she has a bad side, she has a good side also. And that was shown today with her treatment of Sun (however false her intentions), and her comment to Ben.
Mikhail re-appearence would usually beg a few questions, but was totally upstaged by the parachutists comment at the end. Considering the amount of mentions (is this the first confirmation in an episode, aside from the Locke/Rose/Jin speculation? I forget) that people heal quicker on the island, I'd say we can assume Mikhail genuinely did go through the fence when it was on, but recovered. I was a little annoyed that Desmond let Mikhail go. It made sense to start with, but after he stole the phone, you'd expect he would've changed his mind. I guess taking two people back to camp would've been a task though (both for the characters, and for the writers), so although it wasn't a great moment, it's understandable.
And then we have our final revelation. If it wasn't enough that we found out Jin is the father, that Sun may only have a couple of months to live, that Mikhail cheated death, that Jin is a badass and that Hurley doesn't understand basic trigger mechanics, we then discovered that there were no survivors of 815. And they made it damn clear it was our 815, so who knows what this means. Game changer? You'd better believe it.
Overall this was a solid episode for the first 2/3rds, that grew to near perfection by the end. For me this was a 9/10 that has me extremely excited about next week. With a few episodes yet to come, I wouldn't be surprised if we now switched to Locke's story and the revelation is left to stew for a couple of weeks. Either way I'm happy, because both of these storylines are ones I'm desperate to follow.
Lockefan 04-26-2007, 09:27 AM Boy howdy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am loving Season Three beyond belief. I feel like this entire post-haitus segment of Season Three has been like a wild THRILL RIDE! To quote the great Ohio Players: "Roller coaster, of love, huu huu huu huu!"
I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOST is just in such a complete and utter class of its own. For once I'm speechless. I'll just leave it at "I loved it". And, to quote Locke: "We're gonna have to watch that again."
Bravo, LOST team, what a brilliant masterpiece you've created. ...Boy howdy.
Good Twin 04-26-2007, 09:30 AM I love every Sun and Jin episode but this one was the best. Sun + Jin = Great TV.
Kate731 04-26-2007, 09:45 AM I loved this one too. Sun and Jin episodes actually tend to be some of my least favorites, but this one was excellent, definitely the best Sun/ Jin episode yet. (Although I'd say this was basically a Sun episode with Jin appearing in her flashback.) We got to see such a strong side to Sun, with the way she confronted her father, Jin's mother, Juliet (thank you someone for demanding answers from her! ) and even Kate. I absolutely loved Sun in this episode, she is a wonderful character who I hope to see more of, especially now.
I still wouldn't say Season 3 > Season 1, (since season 1 on the whole basically had no weak points for me, while I thought season 3 had a couple minor ones.)
But I am thinking that Season 3 > Season 2. This post-hiatus stuff has been consistently excellent.
EkoJunior 04-26-2007, 10:52 AM This season really has been incredible. This episode offered so many insights into things we thought we knew...I mean, WOW!
And, that ending. My and my family always suspected it, but never thought it would come to fruition on the show. Awesome ending! Can't wait until next week.
Zatherran 04-26-2007, 10:56 AM awsome.. once again sunk my battle ship!
it was good to see sun and jin kick some b----..
alot to think about in this epi.. more puzzle pieces.
I dont trust julia, period.
Remus Lupin 04-26-2007, 11:39 AM Fantastic. Just. Fan-tastic. The Juliet thing in the end clearly showed that she clearly doesn't like her "mission". Either Ben promised her lots of things or is threatening her. I hope it's the former, because I don't want Ben to be made any badder than he already is.
And the flashbacks? Really #1 material. BRILLIANT stuff. And the fight between Jin and Mikhail was really intense and sure got my blood pumping! :D
fate108 04-26-2007, 12:01 PM Great seeing Mikhail alive! He's starting to be my favorite other. Loved the fight scene between he & Jin, Jin needs more action, he kicks butt!
driveshaft76 04-26-2007, 12:04 PM Awesome episode. Great flashbacks which paralleled really nicely with the island story.
I didn't think it was possible that I would like a Jin / Sun episode more than I liked Glass Ballerina, but this one blew it out of the water.
jam717 04-26-2007, 12:11 PM Loved it! Especially the "no survivors" part- can't stop thinking about that. Also dying to know what parachute lady was saying in the other languages- I am sure someone on here has figured it out so am excited to start digging. I was not surprised to see Mikhail, though, especially after the scene where Juliet turned the fence ON after running from the smoke monster w/ Kate a few weeks ago.
Melissa 04-26-2007, 01:59 PM This was one of the best Sun and Jin FB's. We now understand why Jin was doing the job of killing people when we first met him. I was glad to find out Jin was the father of Sun's baby.
best lines: I hate you (Juliet said to Ben) and Go away (Sun told Kate)
Evi (Kate) needs to take some acting lessons from Elizabeth (Juliet). Evi could learn alot especially since this is her first major acting job.
ravenmoon 04-26-2007, 02:36 PM I thought this was a really well written and well constructed episode.
The flashbacks were interesting and tied niceloy in with the original questions we had about the couple from season one, which many flashbacks don;t do, rather show new things and give us new questions.
I thought it was heart breaking that Sun was responsible for Jin taking the higher role in her father's company and a wonderful way of tying it all together.
The actress is truly beautiful in such a natural, refreshing way and her acting is fanstastic as well. So is Sun dead in a few motnhs? Or will her pregnancy be the first one that Juliet is able to prevent killing the mother? Is Kate pregnant? Or is the plan to try and make her pregnant? Are they just new test subjects for the others? Or are they genuinely trying to find out why pregnant women die so they can help them, therefore it being a mission for good? The fact that they may be trying to make Losties pregnant would suggest they are doing this for their own ends, but you never know!
What is the deal with Juliet? I love the way the writers are portraying her, showing as a cold b---- when they want her to be, yet showing such genuine emotion in her? I can't help but believe she wasgenuine in wanting to give Sun good news. But what exactly has benry offered her to make her an accomplise in this scheme of his? And, if it's a way of the island, is Jack involved too?
I was too spoiled for this episode really as far as the big reveal went. But my boyfriend who is slowly climbing back aboard the loving Lost train was really suprisedand excited about the reveal, so it was awsome!
baldlocke 04-26-2007, 06:06 PM Wonderful! was this the major turning point of the show announced by the TPTB?
1dimpleonly 04-26-2007, 06:25 PM Excellent epi!!!
I liked seeing more of what makes Sun tick,...I was not sure that I liked her, but now, she is one of my favorite cast members.
Juliet was another surprise that I enjoyed. She actually showed us her true feelings about Ben.
The whole epi was great!
entil2001 04-26-2007, 07:23 PM According to the ratings, after a slight dip for the previous episode, this week put "Lost" solidly in the winner's circle for the timeslot. And considering how good the show has been this season, that's not exactly a surprise. The writers have a vision, and for those who have been patient enough to let it play out, it's been one hell of a good ride. This episode was the first in a long time to get under my skin, and at the end, I laughed out loud at the audacity. This show continues to leave me begging for more each and every week!
Here's my review for Lost 3.18: "D.O.C.":
http://www.entil2001.com/series/lost/season3/lost3-18.html
Overall, this episode is another success for the resurgent third season. Several mysteries are clarified and connected in this installment, defying the popular stance that the series is adrift. The resulting character turns are more than worth the time, and the writers are building a solid case for the season finale.
Maalstrom Aran 04-26-2007, 09:25 PM Nicely done. There were a few surprises and the acting holds up once again. There's a reason I'm hooked.
Sayidfan33 04-26-2007, 09:51 PM Great epi!!! The backstory was well done and Patchy...I have no words to describe it!
Trevski 04-27-2007, 05:51 AM The Sun and Jin FBs are always amongst the best IMO - helped by the two fine actors who play them. They seem to have a certain tragedy to them that I find very touching. And the Korean sets and clothes are really very beautiful....its a pretty big advert for the country.
The big revelation for me, Mikhail returning aside, was the fact that Sun was actually the cause of Jin's path to the darkside. That really suprised me and makes me glad they've had the island time to try and resolve these problems.
Thrilling, engaging, touching...excellent acting from all again. All the reasons why Lost is still head and shoulders above anything else out there for me.
Captain_Falafel 04-27-2007, 05:59 AM Sun's happiness that the baby was Jins in spite of it meaning she only had two months to live was without doubt the most romantic moment of the season. Beautiful and heartbreaking. YunJin Kim is stunning in this episode. DDK is brilliant too, but I wish he had more of an emotional role in the island story rather than being an attack dog.
I'm still loving the B-Team trek! Hurley was delightful with his "Oops", his "Like I'd tell you..." and his "Ma?" The Desmond and Charlie relationship is still very powerful and fascinating even when they aren't doing their life saving routine. It seems ridiculous that Mikhail isn't dead, but I loved the tension that he created. The Charlie/Mik face off especially.
I love the parachutist character already. Another Brit! Well I am guessing from her accent at the end when she spoke to Hurley. She sounded Mancunian to me. But then judging by all the languages she speaks this woman is from everywhere!
wsprag 04-27-2007, 10:58 PM Loved it. These last few episodes have been some of the best yet. I'm still amazed at how long the writers can keep the suspense........well.........suspended. We still don't know the entire plot yet and we've had three years worth of TV full of clues. We're getting closer to knowing the answers. But, I feel, there are more questions to be raised before more answers come.
bananna551 04-28-2007, 03:57 AM Great episode! I watched it a few days late, but i really loved it. I have to admit - in the first few epis of season 3 I was somewhat doubting where the show was going, but now its back and I'm as addicted as ever. The idea of Mikhail coming back to life is a great twist - I can't wait to see where that's going. And I'm still so intrigued by Juliet and what shes up to, and whether or not Jack is in on it too!
boredmale 04-28-2007, 04:09 PM i wouldn't say loved it but i was more on the like then dislike side. I usually hate Sun/Jin flashbacks because they are pointless, this may have been there best one since the first one(not like that is saying much though). Enough to keep you entertained and move the plot forward though this episode to give it a thumbs up though.
I love every Sun and Jin episode but this one was the best. Sun + Jin = Great TV.
I like both characters but i usually hate when they front and center. The are better in the "supporting role" i find. i do agree definantly the best Sun/Jin episode but what do we have to compare it to? the episode where sun loses her ring? i consider tha the worst episode of lost ever and probably the first time i ever soured on the show.
Mr. Find 04-28-2007, 05:37 PM This episode was pretty good. I guessed right on the blackmailing woman being the prostitute and with the parachute woman saying that all were dead from Oceanic 815, so I should have not liked the episode for its predictability. (But, really, I was just lucky this week. :) )
And I should have not liked it because of the subtitles. But the Korean actors do a good job and it isnt subtitles for all 45 minutes (whew!) so no problem there.
A very solid 8!
nessjscott 04-30-2007, 04:50 AM Really great episode
Jin's father nearly made me cry, Hurley & the flare - great!!!
Mikhail coming back & the ending "NO SURVIVORS" :surprise:
evanesco75 04-30-2007, 06:34 AM Fabulous episode! Top notch. The continuation of Sun and Jin's past...the real love between the two, which can transcend all boundaries and issues... the fact that through that love, Sun unknowingly caused Jin to become her dad's henchman... her meeting with his dad (awesome scene!)... her threat to his mum at the end... her joy at finding out the baby was Jin's.. just incredibly well acted and depicted!
Then the Mikhail reappearance; his interaction with JIn and Charlie... Desmond's disappointment at discovering the girl wasn't Pen; and finally, the girl's revelation about FLight 815.
One of the best LOST episodes ever, IMO.
irish lost fan 04-30-2007, 06:39 AM Loved it.. another great Sun & Jin episode. And to think the writers neglected them for 6/7 episodes early on in the season. Yunjin and Daniel have such great acting talent. Sun & Jin should be on screen more.
Grasshopper 04-30-2007, 04:26 PM Also loved it! I love Sun and Jin anyways and it was good 2 see their flashback. Sad how it ended though i really dont want anything bad 2 happen to them or the baby and Juliet was good in the epi too.
talliann 05-05-2007, 11:28 PM I liked the episode.
Lost On Craphole Island 05-07-2007, 08:48 AM They have the best flashes, and have so much that can be done to them, unlike Jack, Kate, and Hurley.. There storys should be coming to a close... We need more charlie and Claire!
LOCKE THE HATCH 05-13-2007, 05:58 PM i gave it a 9. as usual yunjin's acting is emmy-worthy!
