I just finished watching the brig and it was great. The reveal that Cooper thought he was in hell was a little shocking. I think the writers are intentionally misleading us into thinking the losties are in purgatory. With only a few more shows left this year I can hardly wait til next week. I don't know what Jack and Juliet were hiding from Kate, but hopefully we'll see what happens next week.

I felt the jack/Juliet secret should have been revealed, because kate told him how people feel about him what a jerk. That isn't to say it wasn't amazing, best episode ever, I wonder what problems people will find with the episode.

gotta say this was a great episode... a lot of answers and im glad im catchin the hints... i saw some things comin but i gotta say im impressed with the writers... theyve really been givin out the info this season... didnt notice a lot of it earlier in the season but when you go back and watch the earlier season eps knowin what you know now ... also like the fact it flashed to "3 days ago" and tied it in chronologically with the juliet recording and the 3 days till the attack for the pregnant women.... also liked the fact that johns dad was tied to a huge stone pillar of some sort... and finally my theory bout the box bein a metaphor and john summoning him there... but it still leaves me wondering about a lot of the happenings... specially coops statements one about how he got there and the other bout them bein in hell and dead kinda tying in with my purgatory theory... and so much more to say but ima stop rantin now

again big props to the writers of this show for keeping me guessing till the end... also for bein one of the most consistent, well made shows on tv, i mean the actual amount of well planned thought that must go into this show....

I wonder what problems people will find with the episode.

I know eh? Sometimes I wonder where the heck people get their complaints from. This was another excellent episode. Lost has been kicking some serious butt lately. I love Locke and Ben. Oh and yes, Jack is definitely a jerk. Hes quickly becoming my least favorite Lostie (at least at the moment). I still love Juliet though.

Wow...seriously thats all I have right now, I honestly don't know what to say. Absolutely AMAZING episode.

I may be biased because he's my favorite character, but I think Holloway just reset the bench mark by which all past and future performances on this show will be measured, all the pre-reviews that said he knocked it out of the ballpark were absolutely right. He was fantastic.

A great, great episode. I gave it a ten and even though I love Lost I don't give too many a 10! I loved the return of the Black Rock and Cindy and the kids. I feel like each episode is filling in the big picture, piece by piece. Josh, Terry, and Michael were amazing. I'm glad they didn't soften Sawyer so much that he wouldn't kill Cooper. His personality may have softened but the rage he has felt since he was a child does not simply vanish. I wonder what Danielle is up to with the dynamite. Blowing up some Others perhaps? :)

Simply amazing. This episode was HUGE payoff for anyone that's been following the show since the beginning.

We all speculated on the identity of Sawyer, and it's awesome to see that we were right. But the way it came together and the scene between James and the man he has hunted his whole life. Brilliant.

I bow to the writers and actors for this one, if you didn't feel something tonight you don't have a pulse.

I think Josh Holloway should be nominated for an Emmy for this performance. It was amazing acting.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole episode, with both plots. Didn't think Kate would go and tell Jack, a bit disappointed in her naivete, but still love her.

Really, really disappointed in John Locke right now. He's as bad as Ben as far as manipulating other people go.

What an episode!!! I want to watch it again, now!

Great dialoge, editing and direction.

We got a lot of our ideas confirmed and a lot more.

I think we can see how the final conflict is going to happen. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Really great episode.. I love the way Sawyer-Locke-Cooper story was finalized... After much theorizing that was the answer, it's good to get.... well, an answer!

Lots of new info from Naomi... More speculation about Jack... Great performances by the actors. All-around great episode..

Wow.

I will admit, I am more than willing to admit when the show drops below par, but this... was absolutely amazing. I can't go to sleep, I am so energized by this episode.

So much went on that I can't even process it.

For me, it's not a matter of this being the best episode of the season, it's a question of is this the best episode of Lost ever.

Wow - well done to anyone connected with the show who may see this post.

Great episode. How many well-written scenes with good acting can Lost cram into 42 minutes? Sometimes the show Lost seems to be over soon after it starts. The Brig seemed like a two-hour episode (and I wanted more). That's some good storytelling. Kudos to the writers.

Where to start? Terry O'Quinn and Josh Holloway were great tonight. Terry gave us some maniacal eyes as Locke was recruiting Sawyer to carry out his plan. His scenes with the Others and with Sawyer were riveting, even though I don't know what games the Others are playing with Locke. It almost seems like Locke was looked upon by some of the Others as a man who, by prophecy, came to the island to make great things happen. Ben seems to be threatened by the prospect of being upstaged by Locke. Was Locke more interested in having Cooper killed for revenge or to please the Others? I have no idea. Perhaps a mix of both.

Contained within this wonderful episode was Sawyer finally killing Sawyer (if Sawyer doesn't pull a Mikhail). I really like when they write dark stuff for Sawyer. Sure, it's nice when Sawyer pulls off some funny lines, but Josh does a really good job as an intense, angry Sawyer. I will not soon forget Josh's acting in the brig. His slow realization of why Locke solicited him to come along. His confrontation of Cooper. And the aftermath of killing the original Sawyer.

Perhaps the most twisted scene of the show was Danielle walking into the Black Rock. The music/sound effects contributed nicely. Locke appeared nonchalant as Danielle informs him that she wants some dynamite. Danielle makes no mention of the screaming from the brig. I think Locke and Danielle connect at some level. I got a chuckle out of the Locke's line about the dynamite being unstable. The dynamite was the least unstable thing inside the Black Rock at that time....funny stuff.

Kevin Tighe did a great job as Cooper tonight. They had to make him extra sleezy, so the audience would side with the killers; i.e., Locke and Sawyer. Kevin gets an "A" for his portrayal as a unrepetant con man. One thing odd, though, if I thought I had died and gone to Hell, would I worried about being killed? Would being killed even be a discussion in Hell? He believed he was in a traffic accident (like Juliet's husband?) and was given an IV (to knock him out for transportation a la Juliet?) as he was dying. Maybe he was brought to the island by Richard--maybe he was a black box wish by Sawyer or Locke--who knows?

The politics and maneuvering on the beach is perplexing to say the least. The ending implied that Jack and Juliet are on the side of the Losties but can't risk exposing it. How much does Jack know about Juliet's mission? Is she playing along with Ben as she betrays him? Has Juliet snuck into Claire's tent and swiped some DHARMA blonde hair coloring? What a tangled web we weave.

Okay, this is getting long--so only three more words. More. Lost. Now.

I have to say, best show in a long time. Lost has a tendency to drift away from the people we've come to know. Season 2, we spend half of it getting to know a different crowd. The first part of this season with so much of the Others seemed another drift. But lately, Lost has been delivering the people who hooked us, reeled us in and keep us tied to the TV every week. Got a little of them all tonight, Locke, Sawyer, Jack, Kate, Hurley, Charlie and some great scenes with Locke and Sawyer. I'd have to agree with the walkabout comparison. This epi ranks up there with it as one of the most intense and well acted.

Juliette also plays one fantastic mystery woman. You want to like her, want to believe in her, and yet.. you just can't. Dangerous lady, or could be. Ben is absolutely devious. I kind of got Lost with Lost for a while. It's nice to be back this season.

This episode ranks as one of my all time favorites!
From the interplay with Locke and Ben; Locke and his creepy dad; Locke and Sawyer; Sawyer and Kate; Sawyer and Hurley to Naomi and Sayid and Danielle and Locke, this episode ended up causing more questions that it answered but I have to say that I was very pleased that some many of our hunches proved to be true! Locke's dad is the con man who caused the death of James' parents! It was a heart rending episode and my heart was literally hurting for Locke and James before it was over! Although I disagree with Locke's method of getting James there, I do agree with him that it needed doing.
I also don't think that James planned on killing Cooper until the letter incident and he snapped. I hope that the board isn't filled with "Sawyer's a murder!" That would be missing the whole point of those scenes. What we saw was a little boy in a grown man's body who, although he's tried to come to terms with what happened with his parents, never has been able to figure out why he didn't matter enough to his father and why his father took his family away. Kevin Tighe was fabulous portraying the unrepentant “father” and con man. He thinks he’s figured out where he is but I think Sawyer showed him that he was wrong. Too bad we will never get to see his surprise when he arrives in Hell for real. :)
What we saw was a Locke who has been raised to revere life and honor his father even though he doesn't deserve and the anger that's built over the years because of that. What different paths these two men have taken to get to this point! How different their lives would have been if Cooper hadn’t needed a kidney. I liked how Locke seemed sad and resigned about the death of his father even though he's the one who brought it about.
Ben, as always, was great as the benevolent manipulator but it looks like he may have some competition from Richard, doesn't it??!
I was disappointed that Kate didn't keep the secret but I was kind of disappointed in her behavior in general in this episode and so it was more of the same. I have a feeling that she's going to be torn apart in the next couple of episodes which is always good viewing.
I keep going back to what Cooper and Naomi separately told the Losties, the plane crashed into the bottom of the ocean and all the bodies were found. What in the heck does this mean??! TPTB have obstinately maintained they aren't in purgatory and since we have seen that folks can actually die on this Island, I don't think it's Heaven vs. Hell either.
I'm sure I have more thoughts on this but these are my first ones after watching it twice. Great episode! Can't wait for next week! I'll be missing it all summer because, if they are leaving us hanging like this from week to week, what in the world are they going to do for the season finale??! :eek2: :eek2:

Why I liked it:

1. Sawyer + Sawyer
2. Some indication that there is maybe more than meets the eye in why Jack is willing to trust Juliet and bring her to the beach. Hope its enough to avoid a lynching after Sawyer gets back.
3. " Remind me not to rescue you"

this entire episode was fantastic. I was blown away, of course it was no shock to me that Locke wanted Sawyer to kill his father not Ben, I knew Locke didn't kidnap Ben. The scenes between Locke and Sawyer were great, but even better the scenes between Anthony and Sawyer. Wow!! I was so happy that a story that was opened in season 1 is finally closed. Big weight off of Locke and Sawyer's shoulders. A chain strangulation, we haven't seen that before on Lost! We've seen people die in just about every way, but the writers still keep coming up with ideas. I love Locke's line about being on his own journey now. Can't wait to see what he will learn with the others, I don't see him wanting to be one of them, I see him wanting to learn about the island.
Even though I like Locke off and on his own, I hope he does go back to the beach at some point. I know it probably won't be this season, but perhaps in season 4.

I really loved this episode and agree with the posters who've said it's one of the very best in the whole series. I've mentioned a lot of the things I liked in the "Rate it" thread, so I won't repeat myself. I just want to mention Sawyer and Locke...again.

I love the strange, sympathetic bond that developed between them over the course of the episode. Locke stripped James raw, starting on the trek with the mention of the killing in Sydney and then of what happened to James's parents. The trek alone was ample evidence of the changes that James has undergone on the island. His shame over his crimes was ill-concealed, his guilt over killing Duckett very much present in every mention of his unwillingness to consider killing Ben. That murder weighs on him heavily. Then there was the confrontation and James's realization that this man in front of him, this soulless monster that was Locke's father, was the man who'd brought about his own family's tragedy. It built up - hearbreaking, gutwrenching... and take-your-breath-away, all at the same time.

It warrants mentioning, however, that even while Locke was in control of this escapade from start to finish, he was not only stripping James down, he was also revealing to James all of his own pain and grief and anger, as well as his powerlessness to resolve it. There was great mutual sympathy between them in those last scenes that was so powerful and rare, and Josh and TOQ just conveyed all of that so well.

Poor Locke, he thinks he's free of his demons now, but he couldn't even face them down - he had to get surrogate to do it for him. He's never seemed more pathetic to me than when he hoisted his father's body on his back, ready to march to his destiny claiming he now has the price of admission. I can't help thinking the fact that it was bought for him by someone else is a cheat that's going to cost him dearly down the road.

Yesterday, I read one comment each from Josh and TOQ that indicated they were both excited about this script. I can't wait to hear more about what that was like to film. It must have been a tough week for them, especially Josh, who went from the vulnerability of the child rememebering his mother to an avenging angel of death, all in the space of a couple of minutes. It's no surprise people are raving about Josh's performance all over the internet this morning. I hope somebody tells him that - and passes along all the kudos to TOQ that are there as well.

What a payoff for that letter we first saw back in the Pilot episode. Congrats to Damon and Carlton for writing this material, and a big thank you for featuring these two actors together.

ETA - I don't know what it says about James that he has now killed THREE Losties' fathers. First he bought the booze that led to the demise of Christian, daddy to Jack and Claire, and now Locke's daddy. That boy has a strange fate. I just hope he gets some genuine happiness somewhere along the line. Sadly, it doesn't look like it will result from his relationship with Kate as I had hoped. Her Jack fixation is now beyond pathetic. :(

Another great episode this week. No usual (as in the normal format) flashback either, as it was all on island stuff, and I have to say I didn't miss it.

The B-story seemed a little neglected here, what with Sayid, then Kate, then Jack and Juliet finding out about Naomi, it barely advanced what was going on. It seems more like they needed to get to certain point for next week and dedicated much more time to the A-story instead. Especially towards the end of the episode, there was very little time for them. At least we saw Sayid I suppose. Having said this, when Sayid questioned Naomi, am I the only one who thinks she was holding out of him a little? When Sayid gets the idea somebody is lying, he's usually right.

It was nice to see what happened to Locke over the last 8 days, and definately interesting to see what was going on with the Others, even though we didn't get any real information. The Others see Locke as someone important, Cindy is fully integrated with them, and either there's a big con going or people are genuinly against Ben (I'm still not sure on this one). Nothing special with the flashbacks really, but enjoyable none the less.

But the main chunk of the episode was superb. Cooper thinks it's hell, although I'm pretty sure he's wrong. Anybody else get the feeling he was kidnapped (the mention of one of the paramedics smiling as they put him under, must be a clue)? Sawyer's agony really came out here, and he was fantastic. Danielle's appearence was a little surprising, especially since she didn't do anything. Having said that, she took a whole crate of dynamite for something, and I doubt it's for a fireworks display.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, 9/10. Only real problem I had here was things seemed a bit predictable. I hadn't read the spoilers, but I pretty much figured Cooper would be there, and he would be the original Sawyer. But I'm very excited about next week now, and the season really does seem to be going out in style this year, after a dissapointing start.

I'm still in shock and awe at how good this episode was. It drew a line in the sand, and took a flying leap over it. Every minute was a true adventure - one where you can't wait until the next scene, the next line. Josh and Terry's performances were the best to date.

I totally loved this episode.... the writers are continuing to kick butt with delivering the "goods" but still keeping us hanging..... I am surprised that Jack and Juliet didn't tell Kate the "secret".... I guess I have a week to speculate on what it could be.

"YOU WANNA GO TO HELL??!!"

I don't know about you guys, but they delved into the heart of what the show was about tonight. And when James yelled that out as he strangled Cooper, it left me breathless. Truly an amazing episode.

I had a feeling there'd be people on the forum today debating whether or not the Losties are in Hell. You guys have GOT to be kidding. Damon and Carlton have stated numerous times they are in no form of afterlife. Cooper said this because he couldn't wrap his mind around the concept that, when he came to on the island, he saw his son on his own two feet, and that it seemed John was going to kill him. We all have our own images of Hell, but I don't believe any of our thoughts on what it'd be like is anywhere near as close to what it IS like. Cooper spoke in a metaphor, just like the 'box' was a metaphor and some people on here were debating on what that was and how it works. I'm glad Ben said straight-up it's a metaphor.

If I may say so without ridicule, I honestly feel like I'm supposed to be watching this show, intently. And that it's a small part of what I'm supposed to learn in life. There are no grave mistakes, to me, in Lost, because how it's being played out (even though there's been some odd things here and there); that's how it's supposed to be. Nomatter what happens to the Losties or the Others, nomatter who dies, it's supposed to happen. Life is much like the show; we believe that there's many things that shouldn't happen to us or our loved ones, but they do, and it's because they prepare us for the next challenges that lie ahead. And we can take these challenges with a grain of salt, or become bitter, hateful and angry inside for the rest of our lives. Thank you, to the people of Lost, for not making this some run-of-the-mill TV show with no real ending.

Season 3 (including the first 6 episodes - seriously) is better then season 1. Without a doubt, I'm buying the DVD set.

I am a total emotional wreck after that episode! I was so totally nervous all the way through work today and then when I watched it when I got back I was so tense all thw way through. IT made me cry, twice...just so sad and amazing and mind blowing.

I have never loved a tv character like I have sawyer, sure he's great to look at, but I was automatically intrigued by his emotional intensity and just how terrible what he went through was, and how it shaped the man he became. And I just got a massive pay off, because that scene was amazing.

I have to be honest, I was routing for him to walk away, but when Cooper even refused to read the letter and tore it up and said all that stuff about his Mum, I would have done the same damned thing as James, and I think most of had as well. In retrospect, I am really pleased with the way the writers portrayed James' attitude thorughout the episode (adamently declaring they would take ben back to camp, "I aint killing nobody" even though it was obvious when he said that he would :/ ) and the way they portrayed what a complete and total unrepetant (insert rude word here) Cooper was and how you wanted James to do it, and also the way they gave the impression all james wanted him to do was read it, and he killed him in a crime of passion, not out of cold blooded planning. I also was glad we saw his reaction as being so severe.

But I definetly think we are going to see the "old" less cuddly sawyer for pretty much the rest of the season, maybe in the finale we might see different, but next episode at least, I think we are going to see a very dark and tormented James. He is going to relish outing Juliet, and probably manically go about setting the camp againt her and Jack.
How this will impact on his relationship with kate, I do not know, but I'm guessing he will diostance himself from her, if only so she wont know what happened, because I think if he talks about it he's going to break down. But kate can't judge him for it, after all she did the same damned thing to her own father.

While I totally understand and do not fault James for killing Cooper, I don;t know if it will bring him relief or not. I have a feeling it might down the road, but for the moment I think it's going to make all his old demons rise to the surface and his self hatred to grow. I just hope that if he is wrong about Jack and Jack comes out the golden shining hero in the finale, then I hope sawyer gets some respite. Out of all the characters on the show, the writers sure do like setting him up for a fall, and I hope that is not what's going to happen the rest of this season.

Great episode. Flat-out, great episode.

*Something important happened in nearly every scene. There was an almost complete absence of filler.

*The flashbacks were just as integral to the episode as the "island-time" story.

*The potential plot-line that Naomi brings has so many possibilities (rescue, alternate reality, time travel, etc., the nature of the island itself and how it can remain invisible to the outside world, etc.) my head can hardly grasp what's going on until I get more information.

*Locke was amazing. The final exchange between him and Sawyer was the defining moment of Locke's character in thi series. Although it doesn't make up for the damage TPTB did to his character during season two, it certainly made it easier to forget, and instead connect with season one Lock. Locke isn't undercover, but he will help his friends if he can. He's on his own journey. Locke has resumed a relentless pursuit to understand the island's secrets and his seemingly mystical connection with it. (And even if he couldn't kill his father with his own hands, he's learned enough to manipulate a situation so that he ends up dead anyway. And there's no regret afterward, because "he had it coming".)

*Sawyer's rage toward the "real" Sawyer was palpable. Again, it connects with the Sawyer from season one, and makes it easier to forget "cutesy" Sawyer of season two (and some of the junk they've tried with him in season three). Brilliantly acted. And the fact that Sawyer killed "Sawyer" with no hesitation -- that's our boy. When he pulled out that letter (I hadn't forgotten about it, although it seemed TPTB had), you knew "Sawyer" was dead. And he had it coming.

*I think it was pretty obvious, but it appears we have met "Jacob". In any case, Richard's scene with Locke was brilliant. His ominous tone toward Ben was terrific. And we may well be building to a re-set of The Others that will erase the Others as clean-cut suburbanites junk we've seen this season (where TPTB seemed intent on neutering this once fearsome and mysterious enemy). The implication that there is more to the Others activities than a "fertility problem" is news to many viewers ears. And the looming power struggle between Locke and Ben is delicious.

*The ancient column. All I can say to TPTB is: Keep Going. For everyone who was disappointed by what was inside the hatch and the introduction of the Dharma Initiative as the seeming answer behind the mysterious nature of the island mystery. Keep going.

*And Jack isn't a dope. Finally at the end of the episode we see that not only is Jack not being manipulated by Juliette, she is complicit in his plan. Way to be Jack. I for one never doubted you. While on the flip side, the 815ers distrust of Jack (even extending to Charlie and Hurley builds momentum toward the finale and places Jack in an unusual position from which it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

*Combined with the last few episodes, TPTB seem to have committed themselves to the sci-fi-ish idea that the island has healing powers after hedging for so long. Lock'e paralysis really was physical and not some mental condition. Jin is the father of Sun's baby as the island's powers cured his infertility. All we need now is for Jack to medically confirm that Rose's cancer really is in remission and we have a jackpot.

There are alot of balls in the air heading into the final three episodes this season. The last couple season finales (especially season one) have been very underwhelming. It's hard for me to put trust in TPTB, but with the looming 8-month hiatus in mind and chatter from media and fans that more answers need to be forthcoming, we get something truly spectacular that regenerates buzz for this show.

Edited to add: In case I need to clarify, this post is not sarcastic. I really liked it!

I very much LOVED it!
Even though I thought that the Locke and Sawyer parts were some what predictable. For example, I thought that Locke had his father not Ben in the brig, and that he was The Sawyer that James Ford was looking for. I didn't mind that at all. The show was still great!
Every show just gets better and I want MORE!

The total number of viewers went back up again this week, and things keep getting a little better, now that people are starting to realize that the series is still going strong. As usual, the more the writers focus on solid character development, the better the show gets. It goes without saying that this is one of my favorites of the season, and it's worth noting that only one episode this season has been below average...despite the conventional wisdom.

Here's my review for Lost 3.19: "The Brig":

http://www.entil2001.com/series/lost/season3/lost3-19.html

Overall, this episode continues to resolve long-standing issues by focusing on character exploration. Beyond that, the plot continues to build towards the season finale, and for the most part, that progression is excellent. Contrary to popular belief, the series has been answering questions at a blistering pace of late, and while some of the answers lead to bigger questions, those with faith in the production have been well rewarded.

I would like to echo pretty much Malachy's entire post.

I'll add that not only was this episode a perfect balance of mythology and character story, but the writing and acting were just off-the charts good. Josh Holloway has been playing Sawyer as a caricature most of this season (not sure if that's the actor's fault though) but his performance in the brig was amazing. It almost turned it into a Sawyer-centric episode for a bit, which was a welcome surprise. Having Locke and Sawyer's stories after three seasons of speculation exceeded my own expectations. Kudos to Terry O'Quinn for pulling out another stellar John Locke performance. I love where they're going with this... I'm honestly kind of giddy. Can't wait for the next episode.

Josh Holloway's finest hour. Brilliant bit of acting in the brig....the guy that plays Cooper too - what a believable nasty piece of work.

This just had such a compelling arc to it it held me spellbound. Season 3 is finally ruling the series for me.

That would be missing the whole point of those scenes. What we saw was a little boy in a grown man's body who, although he's tried to come to terms with what happened with his parents, never has been able to figure out why he didn't matter enough to his father and why his father took his family away.

And that really is sitting at the crux of James issues, isn't it? Why didn't he matter enough for his father to choose a different way of handling what happened? All of that emotional destruction and chaos over $38,000. How tragic.

What a gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, twisted yet beautiful episode. I'm still trying to process what transpired, and probably will for a while. Terry and Josh were absolutely brilliant in their portrayals, especially Josh. The anguish, guilt, vulnerbility, desperation and anger he managed to display in his silent, sympathetic exchange with Locke just floored me. He has done a wonderful job with Sawyer's character, and I'm glad the writers remembered that the man has some serious range in his acting skills. Squishing tree-frogs this was not.

Terry...well, what can I say that hasn't already been mentioned? He's flawless, and after what the writers did to Locke's character in S2, it brings me much joy that they remembered what they have in this actor. His character is the heart and soul of this show...and that was very much on display.

Michael Emerson...I love you. So duplicitous, so creepy...so frakkin' brilliant.

Naveen...I certainly hope you're around next season, because you are always wonderful to watch.

Best lines of the episode:

Locke: Rousseau.
Rousseau: Locke

Naomi: What did you say your name was again? Sayid? Remind me not to rescue you, Sayid Jarrah. :biglaugh:

I agree this was an awesome episode. I rewatched it and wonder if anyone is thinking the same thing.........Ben never does anything unintentionally. Tom came and told Locke that Ben wanted to see him, when Locke arrives, he hears the tape recorder and Ben tells him about Juliet and then proceeds to put the tape recorder away in front of Locke. At the end we see Locke telling Sawyer about Juliet and her plan with Ben. It seems to me that Ben wanted this to happen, but I can't figure out why. Any thoughts??

Punishment for trying to kill him would be my guess.

But why would Ben want to anger Juliet any more if she is getting information for them? It seems like he wants the conflict to occur, but to achieve what end result?

Let me just say this:

LOCKE's episodes rule. I wish Locke had a finale or season opener. His episodes have been the best so far this season. And Sawyer complimented the whole episode nicely with fantastic acting by Josh.

Seriously, the TMFT and The Brig have all warrented 10s from me. A rarity.

Maybe his entire reason for sending Juliet to the Losties camp as a mole was an even more elaborate to get the Losties to off her for him. Just a guess. Who knows with Benry?

I did like the episode. Josh is amazing. He's an awesome actor and he's showing it in every episode.

I hated Locke and his behabiour manipulting Sawyer's inner demonds. And disliked Kate for go running to Jack and betray Sayid, Hurley, Desmond and Charlie trust. It breaks my heart and makes me sad but she got what she deserved though, just what she always get when running to Jack, being treated like crap.
I so wish she'd just WAKE UP.

I was literally punching the air in celebration as James pulled out the letter and demanded that Cooper/Sawyer read it.

I love it when the 815ers get angry, especially Jack and now James too.

THIS EPISODE WAS THE BEST EVER:
Perfect flashbacks, perfect doses of Others and Losties, beautiful characterization, the best interplay of inter character politics (Locke - Crazy Lady, Locke - James, Jack - Kate - Juliet, The Fantastic Four - Jack, The Fantastic Four - Sayeed) and best of all, they brought up and answered many questions we posted in this forum!

I thought that this episode was one of the best of the season! Terry O'Quinn and especially Josh Holloway were unbelievably great! Excellent performances. They made me squirm, gasp and FEEL for them. I felt so bad for James. What a horrible thing to go through! The funny thing is, I don't think less of him for doing what he did. Huh. The actor who played Anthony Cooper was also very good. I really HATED him. He gave a whole new meaning to the word "evil".

Sayid, Desmond, Hurley and Charlie made a cool team. It's starting to get a feel of "us against them" but I'm not sure exactly who the "them" is yet. I don't think they know either. They don't trust Jack, and frankly neither do I. Unless Jack has one HECK of an explanation for his odd behavior lately, it looks like he and Juliet may have to set up house in the abandoned caves. Kate's behavior is making me crazy. She couldn't wait to run to Jack to tell him what Sayid had just asked her not to tell ANYONE! I only hope that her blind faith in Jack's intentions doesn't have dire consequences for the beachies, and that her blind faith has limits. Like I said, I don't trust Jack.

Overall, I'd give this episode an 8/10, and the scenes with Josh Holloway a 10/10. He hit it out of the park.
