I believe the truck that hit Claire and her mother was Sam Toomey's.(Sam is the guy that heard the numbers with Lenny.

This explains why we were told about Sam and his wife's accident back in Numbers.

Claire Littleton: Based in Sydney, a large city in New South Wales.

Two different states about as far apart as possible.

To put it simply, that is like saying someone in California probably had a car crash with someone in New York because they are both American. Possible, but not likely.

Sam Toomey and his wife moved to Australia in an attempt to escape the numbers. The did not originally live there.

It's a *possibility* but I believe that if TPTB wanted to established the connection, they would have made it clear. They would have given us a hint. They never skimp on FB crosses. So if they wanted this one to happen, they would have made it happen.

Yeah, but they moved to Kargoolie. Which is in the middle of the countries largest state, miles from anywhere. It really is 'the middle of nowhere'. And Sam was driving back from the local fair.
I just think that the connection is a bit of a wild strech, seeing as it would involve a lot of pointless explaining as to why he was on the other side of the country.

They change stuff alot of times on this show with no explanation.
Some examples of this :
Claire told her boyfriend in Raised By Another,that her mother would disown her if she knew she was pregnant.It is hard to disown someone if you aren't conscious as she was in this episode.

The details of Sara's crash with Shannon's father changed from Man of Science,Man of Faith to Abondoned.

Also Shannon's father's name changed between episodes.

I think they intended for this crash to be between Claire and Sam Toomey.Just because the details are off some doesn't make it impossible.They sometimes change things between episodes with no explanation why.

Til one night, bout 16 years ago, there's something in the static, a voice comes through, a voice repeating those numbers over and over again. A couple of days later we're at the fair in Kalgoorlie and some wally there has got this jar, must have been big as a pony, and it's filled to the rim with beans. I don't think this is possible. That accident happened 16 years ago from when Hurley visited Martha Toomey. (But who knows for sure now.)

Yeah, 16 years ago when Claire was about four, so I don't see that working out too well. Plus, I know that geography isn't a big deal for the US viewers, but when the show airs in Australia it is shockingly obvious. It would be like a New York character crossing paths with a California character with no explanation, it's just not right.

I think we are trying too hard to pin real time, past and present, to Island time.

IMO they are not moving at the same pace, therefore, the Claire-Tomey theory could be true, and most likely, is true.

At Sledgewebs they showed that at Claire's tatoo/piercing place there was a tattoo sign that says what looks like the word Hurley. Next to that you can see a mother tattoo.

If that does in fact say Hurley I do think it is a hint that we should look for a Claire and Hurley connection. What I have suggested here would be that connection.
I don't think the Claire and Hurley connection was supposed to be very obvious .I think it was supposed to be more of a hidden easter egg.

Well, not definately but a good possibility. Ray tells Kate his wife died 8 months ago and Kate stays at Rays for 3 months. It seems to fit timewise but Ray Mullen lives around Melbourne and we're pretty sure Claire lived in Sydney. The accident seems to have happened in Sydney. (Just for informational purposes.)

Ray: Melbourne's 100 kilometers from here. (TR) roughly 62 miles

it's been a while since i've watched those eppys, but they don't seem contradictary to me... so Adam stopped breathing at the site of the accident... brought into the er, they were unable to resuscitate him...

The wording about the SUV has led me to wonder if it was a 3 way accident. They present it as Adam was driving the SUV but later the Dr. says he was hit by an SUV. I've wondered if the 3rd person was Locke and he might have gone to a different hospital?

i pieced this together myself this weekend. i started watching season one over again and clare told jack when they crashed that she was 8 months along. in tabula rasa (sp), ray said that his wife died 8 months ago. could just be play on the number 8, but i think it was ray's wife in the accident.
